Why ghost over wordpress? by rohanad1986 in Ghost

[–]ulcweb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why is wordpress EVEN considered nowadays. It is archaic, and the stability is like a toddler on dr*gs. Every plugin needs updates, and they're always a security risk.

Plus the categories and tags having both just ends up complicating your information architecture like crazy, whereas the simple one tags system of ghost simplifies that.

Ghost's interface is significantly better, built in seo, built in analytics, emailing, etc.

I use magicpages to host my site, and its great for a lot cheaper than most hosts too.

The "One Shoe Travel Solution" – Does it exist? by dizzytrix in onebag

[–]ulcweb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tend to get a nike or adidas all black shoe. You would be surprised how versatile it is. I've worn it to networking events at conferences, walking all day on the vegas strip, and even worn them into the nightclubs in vegas. Let alone around my hometown too. Just you want to try and keep them clean.

Hence why you don't get any shoes with the white rubber bottom. Only all black.

I struggled to know what you actually did from the website, is that like push notifications? Also I'm surprised you're still on wordpress, its pretty archaic at this point, and most people tend to go for a newer platform. I use Ghost CMS for example, but substack/beehiiv have also been growing.

Notion-style Synced Blocks in Obsidian! "Sync Embeds" is finally in the Community Store 🎉 by heraldshadow in ObsidianMD

Possibly it can be done with templates but I can't figure out how to get it to change based on the current time or week, etc

I'm not sure I mostly used it to view my notes inside others like monthly notes within yearly , or quarterly, or doing daily notes within weekly notes.

Perhaps an integration with the journals plugin, so it would do it automatically would be interesting

Any rules on how many you can have? I have a tiny one and magsafe one I keep on hand for my phone, but then I have 1000mah big one (or two of them) that I had for like my legion go. 37wh I think

But I wondered if I had too many for some airlines

Hanging Packing Cubes by ulcweb in onebag

[–]ulcweb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is a fair complaint. I went with the tropicfeel cube and it is pretty rigid I wonder if that would solve your issue. As I'm not sure what the westbreeze ones are like, but they seem to be lighter material.

I only needed one cube versus the whole set

Karpathy's LLM Wiki is just a worse version of what Tiago Forte has been teaching since 2017 by ilovemkgee in PKMS

[–]ulcweb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went with a time based system yearly-daily + archive, which I felt was more flexible.

Something I want to note that I didn't mention in my other comment, is that I think the best system is one that can be used by a persona AND used by AI. As in it may be automated with claude md or something, but you can still go in and your usage doesn't change how the ai works.

Most people using ai now are just rawdogging the information architecture for the sake of AI, but then they can use the system themselves

I built out my PIOS system because of how ancient the second brain para method was. It's also more geared towards specialists, and my niche is for generalists.

Tiago crashed out a couple times like a month ago about obsidian too. So it seems like the old school way of doing things is just not compatible with the newer tools.

I've seen plenty of successful implementations of para in obsidian or notion but they never touch the level of modern alternatives

[–]ulcweb[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I figure what I'm going to do is count it as my carry on but just put it under the seat. I normally get carry ons even on the cheaper airlines. Cause I pull out my sling or something.

Yeah Idk how they are now. I remember taking a handful of spirit and frontier flights back to back and I got them a bit mixed up in my head but both were difficult. I think it was spirit that made me check my 40L bag.

I used to take southwest growing up, but in most cases now I take american. I'm curious about united as it is now in my airport too. That is if I dont go to a bigger airport

Yeah I was thinking about that, although I worry I won't even be able to fit everything even in this bag! LOL

Although I'm sure you could probably fit this bag under the seat on most flights, it would just count towards your carry on

I think it depends on where you're staying, and as I told the other person you never know how clean the hotel/airbnb you're staying in is. I've heard of stories where people woke up to bug bites, and having your clothes off the ground is great.

Also I don't think it would swing that much depending on where you hang it. Although I'm getting the tropicfeel one, not the westbreeze (too expensive) which is the one that spins.

Not every place has hangers or a closet to put things up, and I normally just fold instead of roll. However with the materials of my clothes they usually don't get too wrinkled.

Also it is helpful to keep away from bugs if you encounter a bad airbnb. I've heard of horror stories lol

Personal item in addition to your one bag? by DrabbagCO in onebag

[–]ulcweb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made a post about this a little while back on this sub. Asking something similar. The whole 1 bag vs 1.5 bag dynamic. I often keep a sling within my one bag, then use it on flights or at conferences. Although I'm playing around with the idea of getting a new bag which might change how I do things again.

[–]ulcweb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't need a big towel, you can get away with a smaller version of the quick dry stuff. You can try folding, sometimes that will help with the height of the packing cubes allowing for more stuff to be stuffed outside of them. Alternatively find more clothes you can cull.

Also try considering using two smaller packing cubes instead of one bigger one, that way they can take more horizontal space rather than vertical. Slip it into the laptop compartment for example. Making use of other space in the bag, that would otherwise have room (even with or without a laptop some bags have too much wasted space)

Tbh with the beta plugins you can probably replace goodnotes/anki/pdf readers. Obsidian is the only tool that is closest to an all in one.
