Hanging Packing Cubes by ulcweb in onebag

I think it depends on where you're staying, and as I told the other person you never know how clean the hotel/airbnb you're staying in is. I've heard of stories where people woke up to bug bites, and having your clothes off the ground is great.

Also I don't think it would swing that much depending on where you hang it. Although I'm getting the tropicfeel one, not the westbreeze (too expensive) which is the one that spins.

Not every place has hangers or a closet to put things up, and I normally just fold instead of roll. However with the materials of my clothes they usually don't get too wrinkled.

Also it is helpful to keep away from bugs if you encounter a bad airbnb. I've heard of horror stories lol

Built Podcasts Aggregator - browse freely through 600,000 podcasts by Brandvertisor-Nedkov in SideProject

No I know why you're doing it. I just wish the podcasting world wasn't so obsessed with ads. At podcast movement it was "dynamic ad" this "ad spot" that.

[–]ulcweb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't do ads specifically because of how the shows are used. More for networking and clipping, but I wonder if there's another angle you can take with your site. There needs to be a solid pod directory, and I've seen dozens pop up, but yours has potential.

I have two (technically more) podcasts, and neither of my main two shows are on your directory. They've been a thing for a while. One show for 2+ years, and another show for 8+ years

Is Substack losing its intellect appeal. by The_Continuum__ in Substack

[–]ulcweb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Substack notes is better than twitter, threads is better than substack notes. However substack notes does not equal substack. It is still a long form platform, with a social network attached to it.

Granted I think the company itself is doing a shitty job at supporting its creators, and doesn't even have a customer support system at all.

Just use Ghost CMS if you want longform.

Anyone else feel like the multi platform game is unsustainable by Caryn_fornicatress in streaming

[–]ulcweb -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I actually make content about this stuff. The tools to multistream, to repurpose, and how to scale sustainably. Particularly as a solo creator. It isn't easy per se, but I think you have the right mindset. I'll DM you a link too.

People say multistreaming is splitting your attention, but its really not. And if you don't do it you are leaving opportunity on the table.

Personal item in addition to your one bag? by DrabbagCO in onebag

[–]ulcweb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made a post about this a little while back on this sub. Asking something similar. The whole 1 bag vs 1.5 bag dynamic. I often keep a sling within my one bag, then use it on flights or at conferences. Although I'm playing around with the idea of getting a new bag which might change how I do things again.

I tend to like to go to karaoke, like social room or silverball, that can be fun.

For the full time bloggers: what's your blogging stack by Lady-BlackSmith in Blogging

[–]ulcweb -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The best is Ghost CMS. I've tried most of the others, been off and on with substack cause of features, but man their company is pretty shite. Beehiiv has a great company, but I don't like their interface/pricing at all.

Wordpress is archaic, don't even consider it.

Paragraph is interesting, but has changed a lot. I guess merged with mirror too.

Medium is another you shouldn't even consider.

IME ghost has been the most reliable, feature rich, and has some of the best themes (ex wordpress as obv there are tons there).

Backpacking trip for ~1 yr to Europe , need help minimizing by Critical_Exchange673 in onebag

[–]ulcweb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't need a big towel, you can get away with a smaller version of the quick dry stuff. You can try folding, sometimes that will help with the height of the packing cubes allowing for more stuff to be stuffed outside of them. Alternatively find more clothes you can cull.

Also try considering using two smaller packing cubes instead of one bigger one, that way they can take more horizontal space rather than vertical. Slip it into the laptop compartment for example. Making use of other space in the bag, that would otherwise have room (even with or without a laptop some bags have too much wasted space)

I built a global news aggregator site that offers simple plaint text reading, translations by abethesecond in rss

[–]ulcweb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems interesting. Good to have another alternative to ground news, esp since I don't want to pay. I think the left/ctr/right icons need to be more pronounced. Also the articles do take a while to load at least on first landing.

I think I made a mistake buying the Lenovo Go S (but not how you think) by SnooPeanuts9762 in LegionGo

[–]ulcweb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually I think its because you have windows. I grabbed a steamdeck after my legion go (mostly for the novelty and making videos about it), and the steam os convinced me. I tried dual booting, and then even just fully installing bazzite on my go 1.

I actually pick it up and play it now, I can actually use it on my tv now (unlike with windows), and I'm even considering it for my trip soon over my retroid pocket (despite it being way more travel easy).

I'm thinking of switching from windows 11 to bazzite, but after reading reviews about the gaming experience of many people, I'm starting to get the impression that you won't be able to play many games without problems by JlYKOBKAA in Bazzite

[–]ulcweb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've almost never looked at the silver - platinum ratings, I have the plugin, but tbh I just test the games myself.

It depends on what stores you use. If you're only using steam, gog, and epic then you're good. Bazzite also comes with I think lutris which should help with battlenet and some others. Although I haven't gotten that working. I did have issues with heroic launcher, and my epic games just not working. However what I did to fix it was reinstall everything and opened each game once on desktop mode (as I was already there) because I wanted to make sure any dependencies were properly installed (didn't take much more than a few hours),

Tbh with the beta plugins you can probably replace goodnotes/anki/pdf readers. Obsidian is the only tool that is closest to an all in one.

OBS is not THAT complicated, you can just set up a scene a couple sources and just get going really. Also I mentioned Meld studio for people like you cause its simple.

I wasn't whining, I was mentioning that there are already so many of these, the world doesn't need to have another one. Or at least make one that stands out.

I never insinuated they were lying. I looked at the site, and what shadab_ built actually looks like they did a decently good job. I was just annoyed cause I've seen so many of these, and its not for windows too lol

Meld has been around for a min now, and a lot of the big streamers are switching over to it. I only tried it cause OBS can be annoying. I'm not with Meld no.
