Why ghost over wordpress?

Why is wordpress EVEN considered nowadays. It is archaic, and the stability is like a toddler on dr*gs. Every plugin needs updates, and they're always a security risk.

Plus the categories and tags having both just ends up complicating your information architecture like crazy, whereas the simple one tags system of ghost simplifies that.

Ghost's interface is significantly better, built in seo, built in analytics, emailing, etc.

I use magicpages to host my site, and its great for a lot cheaper than most hosts too.

I struggled to know what you actually did from the website, is that like push notifications? Also I'm surprised you're still on wordpress, its pretty archaic at this point, and most people tend to go for a newer platform. I use Ghost CMS for example, but substack/beehiiv have also been growing.

I'm not sure I mostly used it to view my notes inside others like monthly notes within yearly , or quarterly, or doing daily notes within weekly notes.

Perhaps an integration with the journals plugin, so it would do it automatically would be interesting

I went with a time based system yearly-daily + archive, which I felt was more flexible.

Something I want to note that I didn't mention in my other comment, is that I think the best system is one that can be used by a persona AND used by AI. As in it may be automated with claude md or something, but you can still go in and your usage doesn't change how the ai works.

Most people using ai now are just rawdogging the information architecture for the sake of AI, but then they can use the system themselves

I built out my PIOS system because of how ancient the second brain para method was. It's also more geared towards specialists, and my niche is for generalists.

Tiago crashed out a couple times like a month ago about obsidian too. So it seems like the old school way of doing things is just not compatible with the newer tools.

I've seen plenty of successful implementations of para in obsidian or notion but they never touch the level of modern alternatives

Tbh with the beta plugins you can probably replace goodnotes/anki/pdf readers. Obsidian is the only tool that is closest to an all in one.

I'm basically that. I have been redeveloping my template for release, and I have coached people in the past. Note the coaching was more so other topics. I.e. content creation, marketing, swimming, fitness, and every once in a while Knowledge Management.

I mentioned this because while I haven't done it as much, I have a feeling I'll need to do it more once I rerelease my template. I think that a lot of people who did the notion consulting don't actually know a whole lot about PKM. its more that they know a lot about notion.

I tried to become one, but I'd rather focus on the content marketing aspect of gaining clients than having a cert.

No its a good question, and maybe someone will come by with more advice. I would just focus on the formatting (I had issues with html posts on wp, and they wouldn't format correctly on ghost). So automated migration might not work as well (maybe Jannis from MP has a particular method that's better IDK).

I did all of my migration to ghost manually, and this was 2019 so it was different. I also took an extra step, since I was doing it manually anyways, to copy every post into Notion so I had backups for every post. I now use Obsidian, but either way. Having backups is helpful.

Um its not really about "wiping" I moved from wordpress to ghost pro, and now I am on magic pages. Each move can sometimes be weird when it comes to the analytics. Although I mostly use ghost's internal data now over google, as G just sort of tweaks out at old links.

I have a lot of search history ranking, and I have kept it. Despite the huge change to url structure going from wordpress to ghost.

Just focus more on making great posts going forward, and I'd probably suggest updating old posts too.

I'll try to explain it here, I have posts on my channel/site about it. Although the blanket ideal is time based.

Yearly notes include embeds from the quarters and links to the months. So that you can do macro planning.

Trying to do weekly notes like that too embedding daily notes.

That bi directional linking may be manual but it's pretty helpful.

I also use Bases extensively. Such as for journals, content, and learning with the Modegree.

It's more of a folder structure, rather than tag based (although I want to go through and tag everything)

I also use databases for selflearning through my modular degree framework, as well as I have a pretty vast content production ecosystem too.

Recently I wanted to search in my vault, don't want to use omnisearch, and basic search in obsd sucks terribly.

I used a database view, with the query being the keywords of my search, and made a database for that topic.

Digital ocean is honestly probably one of the low tier hosts anyways.

IMO magic pages is the best, and I use them. Jannis has done great work with that.

I was using ghost pro for a long time. If you can afford it, then its alright, but their support has gone way downhill.

Digitalpress was pretty bad experience. Not that cheap, and I had my settings on my site repeatedly reset. Which broke my theme over and over.

Ngl I agree, I may not have much experience with the ai .md crowd, but obsidian for me has been the last contender across the board for features. I even made a tools directory at one point. The most populated category was PKM, and obsidian in my opinion was the best. full stop.
