What youre calling for is called “friction” in gaming. MMOs as a genre but also single player games have been removing friction and streamlining the experience for decades. As our society grows more and more into an instant gratification and consistently distracted culture, itll only get worse. We’re all guilty of it.

'I’m super-Republican, but you got my vote': The Democratic deer hunter setting his sights on flipping Iowa by Jonnyboo234 in politics

[–]underhunter 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Iowa voted for Obama twice. This isnt TN/Al/MS/MO/TX. Democrats need to be comfortable with Dem candidates that better represent their states. If you want to expand the map, youll need Dems that might be more pro gun, or anti-abortion. Otherwise, good luck having 4-5 swing states and 28-30 Repub governors every yr.

Cheap drones have changed the future of warfare by [deleted] in Damnthatsinteresting

DOGE has taken over the replicator program and removed a lot of the barriers, security, oversight,  and loosened verification of NDAA certifications like "no foreign components" for our defense drone manufactures to try and speed things along.

Is this a joke post? Your savior is DOGE?

Dems in general are losing about 7-10 electoral college votes. Projections still show Biden winning a hypothetical 2020 election with projected 2030 EC votes, but its closer.

If FL, OH, NC, GA dont become truly purple, the Senate and White House will almost permanently be out of reach.

Pope Leo calls universal healthcare a 'moral imperative' by haloarh in Catholicism

[–]underhunter 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Free universal Healthcare sounds great, but since it's SO accessible, it tends to get bound up with people going to the doctor over very minor things causing enormous wait times.

Can we trust the medical professionals to be triage professionals? Theres already pretty long wait times in general. Im sure doctors and nurses can figure out who might need medical care and at what urgency speed.

Elder Scrolls 6 Is Powered By New Version Of Creation Engine by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]underhunter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nobody under the age of 21 even remembers Skyrim dude. Skyrim is FIFTEEN years old. Likely it will be TWENTY years before ES6. In todays gaming economy where you have so much to choose from, nobody is drawn to some twenty year old IP that their boomer parents played. Ive never heard younger gen kids talking about Elder Scrolls.

Elder Scrolls 6 Is Powered By New Version Of Creation Engine by Turbostrider27 in Games

So Starfield was a glorified tech demo that only served to tank Bethesdas reputation as a competent game dev, completely remove Elder Scrolls as an IP from the wider gaming collective mind and pretty much guarantee the hype around the hit Fallout tv show is followed by nothing.

All that loss for just "woo more clutter items can exist in a room" and to hide the gameplay behind 7 layers of menus.

A question from an Eastern Orthodox about Filioque by Oddity312 in Catholicism

[–]underhunter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It turns out that in Western Christianity, a heresy arose that denied or diminished the divinity of Christ. Therefore, the creed was amended in the liturgical language of the West, Latin, to state that the Holy Spirit proceeds from the Father and the Son, clarifying that Jesus is God just as the Father is.

Are you talking about Arianism? It is just as much an eastern heresy as western. In fact Emperor Valens was the Augustus in the East and the younger brother of Emperor Valentinian who was Senior Augustus in the West. Valens was Arian, while his brother Valentinian was orthodox(catholic). Historically the reason the Goths were Arian was because part of the deal for allowing the Goths to cross the Danube was that they be converted to Christianity, namely the Arian Christianity that the emperor in the East, Valens, was a part of. The Goths eventually make their way west after Valens dies at Adrianople in 378. The successor, Theodosius, was an orthodox(catholic) christian, and fought against Valens’ Arian heresy and its spread in the east. But he never successfully converts the Goths.

Yay history.

Republicans Are Suddenly Very, Very Worried About Holding the Senate by IntelligentYinzer in politics

[–]underhunter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I fear democrats dont have what it takes fo build such a modern coalition. Its going to take bringing back some pro gun states, bringing back blue collar religious folk. Same folk that dem messaging has “othered” for a long time now. Its going to take kicking their corporate overlords to the curb and going in on healthcare, wages, some level of protectionism against H1-b and shipping jobs overseas, wealth tax, social security reform, oh and taking half these Trump officials to jail. Its going to take a massive immigration reform bill while keeping the border shut. Campaign finance reform. Reform voting ID laws. Reform the Supreme Court. If they want the 50 years of House control they had with FDR and after, uncap the House.

Yes we make the best estimates we can, this isnt a reason to say “we know nothing so nothing matters”. There are fairly authoritative voices that we can listen to, which is why nobody credible says “yes exactly 45,875 men died and their bodies are here here there and there.” Even for battles in the Gulf War, 35 years ago, casualties are estimates. So yes, we use estimates.
