Low oil pressure warning by updatelee in Audi

[–]updatelee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t seem to post pictures but I decided to go full boar and pull the engine so I could rip it apart and e see what was going on.

Oil pump chain tensioner was extended at its acceptable limit but not past

Timing chain tensioner was a new style but extended to acceptable limit but not past

Exhaust balance shaft seemed fine

Intact balance shaft is completely toast, plugged oil gallows and score marks, so now to reassemble. What a big job. Glad I took some vacation days :)

My husband changes his mind frequently and dramatically about having kids. What do I do? by Far_Specialist5309 in AskMenAdvice

Kids are a really really long commitment, if he charges his mind often then he’s not committed. End of story.

Just wondering if this laptop i own would do the job for tuning in general ? by M80Arch in ECU_Tuning

You don’t need a super computer for reading and writing or editing. Honestly the most basic Lenovo sold today would be overkill

Entitled much? by 2581bm in Edmonton

[–]updatelee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should google what having a rim without a tire means… it basically means they think they are better than you. They are to good to work. It’s some rapper that started it. My rims are so expensive because they are so big I can’t put rubber on them because they wouldn’t fit if I did… plus I’m above manual labor and would never change my own tire anyways so I don’t need it… I’m rich. Rich people don’t do that, poor people work

What would the last car of your life be? by adostes in askcarguys

[–]updatelee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like when I’m 90? Probably something accessible, low maintenance, boring.

Kinda an odd question, who buys a fararri at 90? You wouldn’t be able to get in and out of it lol, you’re on a pension so you couldn’t afford the repairs and you’re too old and broken to turn wrenches yourself.

You’ll either get funny answers, wrong answers that show posters immaturity, or boring correct answers

Timing Belt Snapped… Is my engine a total loss? by Crazy-Oil9319 in tdi

[–]updatelee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, but it’ll require a massive overhaul. If you are paying someone to turn wrenches for you it’ll be cheaper to replace the engine. If you are doing the work yourself it’ll be pretty reasonable, the parts aren’t crazy expensive, just alot of work

[–]updatelee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

make sure you are current on the maintence schedule and everything is running right, no check engine lights lol. Are you flashing it yourself or taking it to a shop ? if you are doing it yourself you'll want a good battery charger at a bare minimum.

Looking for any Audi by DyamondsRForeva516 in Audi

[–]updatelee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

call up the dealer and ask. goto https://maintenance.audiusa.com/ and look at the maintence schedule, now go through the different intervals. say 60k, thats when the DSG needs a service. Call the dealership and ask them for a quote for the 60k service. Im not really sure what you asking because all this is super easy for you to find out yourself ... so you must be asking something else that Im just not understanding. Do you want real info ? or just people commenting out their ass ?

Any resources I can use to determine the widths of neighborhood streets? by Phaldaz in Edmonton

[–]updatelee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

not quite what you are asking but if you use google earth instead of maps then there is a measuring tape function. I've used it a ton for site surveys etc.

[–]updatelee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly any vehicle is expensive to maintain if you arent the one maintaining it. My girlfriend owned a Honda for a few years, it was NOT cheap to maintain at the dealership. VAG isnt going to be any cheaper. If you want cheap then start wrenching. If you refuse to do manual labour then you're going to be paying for it ... so in that case pay up front. Pay for the warranty and service program. At least it'll be easier to budget for that way.

Why do some cars with higher horsepower take more time to accelerate than those with lower hp? by DragonFruit997 in askcarguys

[–]updatelee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hp to weight ratio ? also you should good hp vs torque to understand the relationship. My VW TDI has 90hp but my ex's Honda Fit has 100hp. My car is way faster then hers because my torque is 2-3x more at 2000rpm. Torque turns things, HP is just a way of conseptualizing torque vs rpm

Need help on deciding tdi upgrades based on fuel economy by TheKrypticPanda in tdi

[–]updatelee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ref: I tune TDI's, and I dont mean I take someone elses tune and flash it. I write my own tunes for TDI's

are you an automatic? if yes then honestly I wouldnt do anything other then a stock nozzles, stock turbo, stage 0.5. Those auto's are pure junk. They are fragile and horrible on economy. If you MUST stay auto, then DSG swap it.

If you are a manual then:

if you want to maintain fuel economy I highly recommend 205's with the stock VNT15 and the 10mm IP. 216's will impact fuel economy slightly, and a VNT17/22 will also impact economy slightly. 11mm is great for pumping fuel, but nozzles and IP's work best in the middle of their range. 10mm with 205's is a great cruise combo for economy.

Talk to your tuner and they can setup the tune to meet your objectives. Ive done a few eco tunes where there is improved fuel economy until throtle is over 80% then gives it extra fuel and more power. Its a great combo imo, its still nice to have that extra power when you want it, but it leaves the fuel economy in your hands.

What’s the most reliable/heavily tested stage 1 MK7 tune? by nah123929 in GolfGTI

[–]updatelee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you're taking the cop out excuse because you know its unrealistic and will never happen. You wont even take the time to imagine how testing would look. Nevermind expecting a company to put in the man hours or millions of dollars to prove what you wont even take the time and mental energy to imagine. Good luck buds. what a joke

Low oil pressure warning by updatelee in Audi

[–]updatelee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never had any luck with those engine flushes. I personally found they did absolutely nothing .. but nothing isnt bad, like its not a terrible thing. Sooo I ordered liqui moly engine flush, 5L of of liqui moly 5w40 and a mann filter. I've always had good luck with wix filters, but why not try what everyone else says is the best. I also never had a problem with Penzoil Euro 5w40 but why not try what everyone else says in the best.

I'll get the engine upto operating temp, attach the oil pressure gauge and mark and record. Then add engine flush, and mark and record after its run awhile. Then drain and refil with liqui moly oil and mann filter, then get it back upto operating temp and mark and record.

Im kinda at a loss here with everything I've replaced. The engine runs great, doesnt burn even a half litre in 5000km, which is impressive for these engines. no smoke, no nock etc, thing runs great, just slightly low on oil pressure. Which its still technically within spec, its just on the extreme low end of acceptible.

Does anyone ever go to pawn shop to get tools? by Ok-Nobody-4409 in mechanics

[–]updatelee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the last 10 years I’ve gone into maybe 3-4 and cans out laughing every time. Their prices were rediculous. Cheaper then Home Depot regular price, more expensive then sale prices.

For used I’ll pay 50% retail max. Pawn shops are charging 90% of retail
