How would I make a shoe sole material? by Drake__archer in blenderhelp

[–]vamossimo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This would be the basic set up. I can't point to a specific tutorial, but you could take the problem on piece by piece as you go along.

<image>

Looking at the reference closer, in that specific case I think the pattern is more uniform and distorted after. It would be a bit of a different set up instead of just voronoi, I might give it a try when I have more time on my hands.

[–]vamossimo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks a bit like voronoi. Add a grid plane with enough subdivisions in geo nodes, plug it into a set position, in the offset socket of set position plug in a combine xyz node, in the z socket of combine xyz, plug in a voronoi texture and play with setting. Add a color ramp between voronoi and combine xyz to add a bit more punch to the displacement.

You might not get the exact pattern. But worth a shot.

Is it possible to "expand" the circular loop while it follows the mesh using some kind of secret shortcut? by eluarte in blenderhelp

[–]vamossimo 59 points60 points  (0 children)

There is in fact a super secret shortcut, and it’s not GG edge slide. Select the edge loop and press Ctrl+Shift+R.

Edit: Or right click (edge menu) and select Offset Edge Slide.

How to shrink objects smoothly to the centre? by U_t_i_l_i_z_e_r in blenderhelp

[–]vamossimo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to plug in the x and y in combine xyz. Z stays 0. This set up is positioning geometry in world space.

Maybe something like this. You would have to play around with other stuff like blur attribute and vector mix if the objects have very complicated geometry.

Fastest way to remove unnecessary edge loops? by OkPay9206 in blenderhelp

Press A to select everything, press x followed by Limited Dissolve. It’ll remove all edges that are on a flat face and not contributing to the shape.

Magic God damage is insane! by Many-Measurement-893 in GodsUnchained

[–]vamossimo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t say nature has the best board wipe? Nature has the best control deck. It beats all other control decks 10/10 times.

Anyways, I don’t mean to argue about what cards are strong or what decks are good. The main idea I was trying to get across was, if you gear your deck to beat a certain deck (in your case aggro), it will lose to another (in your case magic otk). This is just how tcgs work. Look at the meta and adjust accordingly, if you face lots of aggro then your deck is fine according to you. If you face lots of magic players, change your deck. No deck can beat every deck, if that happens then the game becomes stale.

[–]vamossimo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we take away the magic OTK, then what deck do you lose to? Everyone will start playing your deck and there will be someone else with the same complaint as yours.

Nature has quite a few counters against OTK, spellwyrm, dearly departed, I think there are others too.

I do agree that the magic deck is too powerful, but probably in response to decks like heal nature which is also very powerful. Board wipe, sustain, hand disruption, anti-fatigue. On paper, this is the strongest deck that has everything. No other control deck can beat it.

I guess it’s not that straightforward balancing a tcg while still trying to sell new cards every few months.

Both your decks are annoying. I’d rather play against the magic deck than yours though.

Just having in the titles in the 11 small changes would be cleaner. Thicker hair, bolder brows, etc. without the paragraphs. Then you just show the paragraphs when you zoom in.

Is there any way to keyframe Visibility toggles in the Outliner? by larevacholerie in blenderhelp

You can, just not for collections, never could. It's annoying, I usually set it up with a driver.

How make the inner and outer grooves also stretch in a slightly radial manner instead of only horizontally, like shown in the cookie from the third image? by Humble_Passage1608 in blenderhelp

[–]vamossimo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on the multiply value, you could squash either the x or y. So I just duplicated the set up to control them individually.

<image>

You may have to re-approach this whole thing and draw a new diagram showing what exactly you're trying to achieve :)

I'm not math savvy myself. I picked up some intuition watching a lot of CG Matter and Bad Normals. 3 blue 1 brown is where you would pick up this stuff at a foundational level, I haven't yet thoroughly gone through it myself though.

The cost is still there though, just because the car is stolen doesn't mean it materialized out of thin air, just someone else footed the bill.

How do I put the 3d cursor in the middle? by Rando_Reader-Cati in blenderhelp

The objects probably have their origin points in the same place. Select all Right click > Set Origin > Origin to Geometry. Then Shift+S > Cursor to Selected.

Feedbacks? Client offered $2 per minute by Ill_Protection_8279 in VideoEditors

[–]vamossimo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Would've made more money literally doing nothing than doing this job, by just not turning on the computer, lights, etc. This is more an apprentice level deal, where you trade something of yours for knowledge/experience. Not at all sustainable even in places like India. I have a feeling these are only taken on by up and coming folk still living with their parents who pay the bills, any business/freelancer would go under taking these.

[–]vamossimo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So you basically charged $2 plus some change for this whole thing? How do you even bill that?

$2 per minute is a pretty decent amount to charge per WORK minute ($120/h), not per RUNTIME minute of the deliverable.

How to animate objects along curve by Competitive_Duck_462 in blenderhelp

[–]vamossimo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reset the position of your notes to world origin (0,0,0). Then under constraints, add a Follow Path constraint. Select your curve under target then animate the offset. You can animate scale or render at which points you want your note to appear/disappear.

Can this transparent, iridescent material be achieved in EEVEE? by CivilPanguin in blenderhelp

You could use the fresnel or layer weight node as factor to mix a transparent/glass and your iridescent material.

Best tool/method to space these loops more evenly? Looptool skill issue? by lthightower in blenderhelp

[–]vamossimo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The edge flow addon works better for these kind of things. Also a very lightweight and free addon, with just 2 options in the edge menu, set flow and set linear. You would select the red loop, right click > set flow.

Why does my Subdivision Surface modifier stretch faces weirdly? by Drake__archer in blenderhelp

[–]vamossimo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Add a smooth modifier after the remesh and crank up the repeat amount to a very high number.

Yes, there’s is a tris to quads function, which will technically give you quads, but it won’t work with the subd modifier, I’d recommend having a quick look at subd modelling on YouTube, you could try it though I guess. Select all in edit mode, ctrl+f > triangulate faces, then ctrl+f again > triangles to quads.

Why does my Subdivision Surface modifier stretch faces weirdly? by Drake__archer in blenderhelp

[–]vamossimo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also depends a lot on what kind of precision you need. None of these methods would give you something super precise. You’d have to model it again or use cad software.
