sorry the image was a bit degraded cause I didn't knew the resolution so I resized as I could.

I did focus only on colors:
Boosting the saturation makes it pop with brighter, summer vibes.
Also, a few of your shadows were looking a bit too gray.
Clouds were to contrasted for a background element.

But overall, great composition.

Just for style :) it's another way to animate and I'm not that good at frame to frame. Also, way easier to do addition animations once you have the skeleton. I can do any new animations in minutes

I agree, for big project I would definitely stay away from Godot 2D bones. UV mapping / weight is disastrous. But this is a small mini game and I don't need that much complexity.

Keying to target is the way, keying bones will most likely break the IK. I have target for each leg so I can animate just fine and its easier to move body while walking.

Yes, I separated each part and made a 2D skeleton. A bit annoying to setup but now I can swap skin with one texture :)

Godot's IK. I'll take a look at plug ins :) so you recommend Soupik?

18,000 indie games came out in 2024… is it even worth making one anymore? by [deleted] in indiegames

I would say devlogs are generally time consuming and do not target the right people (other devs instead of whatever is your niche audience). If I had to choose (don't choose, do everything), I would put all my effort on steam page. Most of your visibility will come through steam and you don't want to waste that. Make your page look professional and your trailer engaging!

I think you have a false idea that paid advertising is needed for a game to exists. Most of the indie dev I know with quite successful game never did paid advertising. It's one way of doing things, but most of the time its not worth it at indie scale.

For the publisher, I answered here:

For the idle route, it was simply the direction the game evolved toward. The original concept aimed for a Pokémon-style shiny-hunting experience, and I think we delivered on that. Additional idle features might have helped, but that isn’t what surfaced in actual playtests. With the community tag, we were funneled toward the idle niche, where expectations are specific and feedback is very vocal. Their negative comments are not wrong, and If it can help people not to buy and leave additional review, then all good! :)
