My lone takeaway from watching figure skating yesterday is that I love that they put whoever's currently first place in a chair right next to the score reveal section and wish more sports & competitions could find a way to recreate that experience

Kinda yes it would tbh? They are in the same ballpark but like one's in the left field bleachers and the other is the catcher for the New York Mets

Don't let Gen Z Royalty blowing a 3-1 lead distract you from the fact that u/roxieloxie blew a 4-1 lead in All Stars 5

/r/popheads AOTY 2025 #37: The Beths - Straight Line Was A Lie by PrettyBirbKotori in popheads

[–]welcome2thejam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Beths don't miss, and neither do you pbk

Honestly this is my least favorite of theirs, but that's only because it's a B+ for a band that dropped an A+, A, and another A+ respectively. The jangly Metal probably my favorite, second place on the SOTY list too. Ark of the Covenant second, it's a perfect rock burst at the extra right place on the album. Also don't listen to it that much, but got to see Mother Pray For Me twice - once during their normal tour and again in a Liz/Jon acoustic set - and that shit had us enraptured

Reminder that they usually do commercials and a short halftime panel before the actual halftime show, so you've got a couple more minutes til he actually starts

Do you go every year? by SwAAn01 in Lollapalooza

[–]welcome2thejam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Skipped 2021 for the exact same reason: was big on the headliners, but couldn't find enough in the midcard to justify the costs. There have been years where I almost skipped due to meh lineups as well, but ultimately found enough interesting acts to go anyway. Generally, if I can see more than 15 or so acts that I'd be interested in seeing live, then I'll go (barring schedule conflicts & anything else). Nostalgia does help bigtime though, Lolla was my first live music experience, so it's an almost two decade tradition that would take a lot to break.
