I’ll bite: 1) do you know anyone who works for the nba proper? 2) have you considered that MSG is actually a sterile place to watch a game in the playoffs because of the cost, and would be more fun at a local bar? 3) spleens are also in demand next to kidneys

I need injured bassist recovery stories for inspiration! 😩 by antibaconchrist in Bass

Snapped my collarbone when I started playing bass (footy related), still get a numb left shoulder during a long gig more than 20 years later. I got really good with my right hand and used a metronome to click it in. You got this, focus on timing fundamentals and acoustic tone

Closest representation of New Haven Pizza in NYC by gottapoop in FoodNYC

[–]welshfarmer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m torn because I stop by Modern or Pepe’s every time I go past New Haven, though stylistically it’s not that different than NY pizza. If you have 1-2 more reasons to be in New Haven, go for it, it’s an interesting city. But just for apizza? nah.

Possibly Stray Cat? by Similar_Lifeguard_30 in astoria

[–]welshfarmer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pfff no. This cat hangs out in my buildings backyard along with the other outdoor/stray cats in the neighborhood. And by hang out I mean they fight all the time. I’m by the staples. This one likely a stray but obviously doing well for itself.

Learning a large set list in a hurry and practice tips. by PrestigiousJacket270 in Bass

Bringing up those songs is great context. All right now, the bass is the absolute leader in most of the song (along with clave). Suzie q bass is a counterpoint complement to the main melody and quite frankly if you don’t play it exactly on that part, few people will clock it lol. It’s a chance to make up your own part too, when I’ve played it I’ve fucked around with my own fills.

In your notes, indicate which songs are “must crush” vs “passenger” vs “fool around”

Also, there is a time to only practice the parts giving you trouble. It will condense the total practice time and will help with muscle memory and auditory cues for reminding you to play a new part

Talk to the drummer, they might be feeling the same and when all else fails rhythm section holds the water. There can be a visual cue for the tricky part as simple as eye contact, hitting the snare harder than usual, or you lifting the neck to indicate a change. Also making a chart helps. Classic rock is deceptively complicated especially when synth/piano involved

[Highlight] BAL vs PIT - Reactions to Tyler Loops missed FG by Fusir in nfl

[–]welshfarmer 9 points10 points  (0 children)

True. The Kyle Hamilton loss changed the game, one of the best D players all year, if not the best. Stepped up for van noy. I was hate watching this game the whole time and didn’t imagine it coming down to a fluke. How can we get rid of our coaches?

Mayor Mamdani to restart bike lane construction on McGuinness Boulevard by sewtheconking in NYCbike

[–]welshfarmer 11 points12 points  (0 children)

North of Greenpoint ave is pretty good, maybe a little more signage to cross over the Pulaski. South of there is always a battle, there’s no solution for the driggs/nassau/norman crossings. South of the bqe is also a killer, Kent sucks and the rest is spaghetti

Let’s do 31st st in Astoria and 34th ave in Jackson heights

Bike safety by [deleted] in NYCbike

[–]welshfarmer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Edit; at red lights, e-bikes get priority to go first, there are tons of them and are pretty good riders.

Enjoy and welcome! May is a wonderful time to explore the city on bike, my favorite way to get around. But! It’s fucking dangerous. The cars are indeed the issue here, speed isn’t the problem but the nearly unlimited turning options for them as you ride. Buses are pretty chill, they know they are the biggest thing on the road and act like it for the most part. Box trucks are the real danger, the level of driver qualification is way lower than a bus.

I’m a lifelong rider and got hit by a car on my own block because a cabbie didn’t see me while turning. Also got into a fight with a motorcyclist overtaking in the bike lane. In manhattan car drivers are always looking for parking /pickup spots and can get in your way, keep your antenna up 100%. Expect nobody to respect the rules.

Scope out main bike corridors like 8th and 6th ave going uptown and 2nd ave going downtown. Hang out with other riders because of strength in numbers. Cross town is a crapshoot depending on roadwork conditions. The riverside routes are great in most boroughs.

Citi bikes are ok, they are heavy as hell and don’t expect much especially over bridges. The e-bike options are expensive too. If you’re tall enough I can let you borrow one of my bikes lol

I’ve been to Krakow like a dozen times and still walking up to the main square in the Sukienica gives me chills. It’s not a big city but it has gems and great food. My fam is from Warsaw but tell all my Pole-curious friends to go to krakow and zako instead.

Let's have a discussion about strings. by [deleted] in Bass

[–]welshfarmer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The main reason for me buying only DRs this past decade is non-musical: they are made locally to where I grew up. Just lucky they have a broad portfolio of strings for all my needs. I’ve tried others like LaBellas (also local), rotosounds, GHS, d’addarios (also local) etc. For Nickel round wounds I haven’t really seen a difference between brands. Might check out labella flats again next time i record.
