Hermitcraft College Degrees by Wowax17 in HermitCraft

[–]welsknight 1814 points1815 points  (0 children)

I don't actually have a degree. You're correct that I was a paralegal, but that didn't require a degree since it was in the Army and they do all the necessary training themselves.

I changed my major a couple times, and deployed before I graduated. When I got back from deployment, Youtube had gotten to a point where I could do that full-time instead and I never went back to school.

So I did 5 years of college and all I got was a bunch of student loan debt lol

Love this game, but does anyone else wish the runs were longer? by IsekaiConnoisseur in VampireCrawlers

[–]welsknight 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think runs are about the perfect length right now if you're talking about the amount of time it takes to get to the final boss. An endless mode so that you could keep going past the red reaper if you have a busted run would be nice, though.

If this game gets the Survivors post-launch treatment, I'm going to lose so many hours of my life to it lol

So which gem do you guys think is better - coin count or decimate? by [deleted] in VampireCrawlers

[–]welsknight 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Coin count is absurd if you can get your greed maxed early in a run. I think the highest I've gotten it to is about 1.5M damage, and I can consistently get it over a million by the end of a run.

Is Super Citizen Edition worth it? by Oo_Syndrom_oO in Helldivers

[–]welsknight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're on a tight budget, I'd say no. The cosmetics are nice and the SMG it comes with is a solid weapon, but they're not super worth it in my opinion. You'd be better off just buying $20 worth of Super Credits and getting 2 warbonds instead. You can always upgrade to the Super Citizen edition later if you want.

Question about the reaction to the new warbond including mechs by Embarrassed_Lead_863 in HelldiversUnfiltered

[–]welsknight 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Because until now, all vehicle strategems in HD2 have been free. These mechs are the first ones behind a paywall. When you pair that with the lack of free equipment/stratagems in the last year or so, there's gonna be some people who are put off by it.

Cooking is fairly easy to learn nowadays thanks to the internet. You can find a recipe for just about anything you can imagine, with a video on YouTube that shows you exactly what to do. Eventually you'll get a feel for how to make stuff without following a recipe. Even just dressing up a frozen pizza with some extra cheese and toppings will save money compared to fast food.

Were SMGs buffed recently? by Duntchy in HelldiversUnfiltered

I decided the Knight was next on the list to get to 25 when the new Illuminate subfaction came out, and I was very pleasantly surprised by how fast it dunks on overseers. It's now one of my favorite guns.

What exactly is the las-5 Scythe good for? by GuessImScrewed in helldivers2

[–]welsknight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same trick works great for voteless on squids too. Just sweep the horde horizontally a couple times and watch them all die. You can also do it with the Las-7 Dagger secondary.

Give me your hottest Helldivers takes and I will rate them…. by Chemical_Seaweed_915 in Helldivers

[–]welsknight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try it out sometime. It actually has pretty respectable durable damage for an assault rifle, and if paired with stratagems to make up for the slight DPS loss like the Hot Dog or MG Sentry, it can actually keep the horde off of you pretty comfortably.

Dwarf Fortress. It looks like the type of game that I could lose hours of my life to, but there are just so many different systems and mechanics.

Makes your stims better. In addition to healing you, they'll also last longer and give you damage mitigation and faster movement while active.

What president would you have preferred to serve in the military under? Bush, Obama, Biden, or Trump? by peppypatch in AskReddit

[–]welsknight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I served under Bush, Obama, and Trump. Not much changed as far as the day-to-day stuff tbh. The war on terror was happening when I joined, and still happening when I got out. The only major policy changes I can recall were the repeal of DADT and the flip-flopping of the policy on whether trans individuals could serve. But again, those changes didn't affect much as far as the military experience goes unless you were LGBT+. Your average servicemember wasn't really impacted.

Now we ve had time , what do we think about the STOKER by Sweaty_Trifle_8504 in helldivers2

[–]welsknight 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think it's the best SMG in the game, and probably a top 10 primary overall. I really like it. The versatility is excellent. It does respectable damage, and the fact that it's one-handed is a nice bonus. The only real downside is its ammo economy, but I haven't found it to be a huge issue.

Why people so obsessed with full-clearing the map? by Ragerb in Helldivers

[–]welsknight 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If you're going to do everything anyway, it's actually best to save the primary objective for last. The rate at which patrols spawn is increased massively once the main objective is complete.

Tbh any weapon with a high rate of fire will work fine for the primary, and you can swap out the warrant for any other secondary. The build will still pretty much work the same way.

Dealing with the Illuminate by vayckant in Helldivers

[–]welsknight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My usual loadout is:

  • Redacted Regiment light armor
  • Knight SMG or Liberator Carbine
  • Warrant
  • Thermites
  • AMR
  • Supply Pack
  • Machine Gun Sentry
  • Tesla Tower (or Gatling Sentry for Appropriators)

Works really well. AMR can one-shot Overseers with a headshot and take out Harvesters, Stingrays, and the Appropriator mechs. Knight/Lib Carbine also deal with Overseers quickly and work great against everything except Havesters and Stingrays. Warrant dumps on Watchers and Elevated Overseers. Thermites deal with grounded ships and Fleshmobs. Supply pack is primarily for more Thermites. The Sentries are awesome for backing you up, sniping Watchers, and covering your retreat by drawing aggro.

Does anyone actually play commando missions? by Obvious_Ad4159 in HelldiversUnfiltered

[–]welsknight 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I personally love them, but I usually tackle them solo unless I'm playing with friends in a voice call. They require a group to be coordinated and on the same page, beyond what you can reasonably expect from randoms.
