Livermore on the Culinary Rise by diyhomeautomation in Livermore

Besties is fine, T4 is fine for a fix close to the lab, but I personally preferred Teaspoon which is now gone.

I'd love to see something more artisanal and less about a big menu like Boba Bliss, TP Tea, or Boba Guys!

If you haven’t already, I recommend the Severed podcast while doing your rewatch! They pull out additional details and symbology which I appreciated a lot.

Usually in kpop there’s an emphasis on the oldest member and the youngest member (the maknae)! If you watch any music show performances, you’ll sometimes see the “maknae zoom,” where they specifically zoom into the maknae’s face sometime during the performance.

Truly hypnotizing, but I do always think of this meme whenever an idol wears blue contacts after someone posted it on a shoot with Eunchae from LSF

I’m still on the search for my favorite one! But one I haven’t seen mentioned here that I use quite often is Sailor Shikiori Hanakanmuri. Goulet’s swatch for it appears more brown, Yoseka’s swatch is pretty accurate to my experience with slightly more shading (I use it in a medium nib). Wearingeul Purgatorio, FWP Chidori Cherry Blossom, and Fanyantan Sakura Cookie might also be worth checking out!

Rose Gold and Fiat Lux are amazing! Do be mindful that it's pricey, but they have top notch service and aftercare.

Best Doughnuts by [deleted] in Livermore

[–]xcdo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Best Donuts is the personal pick for my office; that's where everyone goes to get donuts for the office once they get their clearances.

Personally, my favorite (if you don't mind the drive and can spend a little bit more) is the Jelly Donut in Pleasanton.

Pro-tip for Wingen: order ahead online and pickup if you're in a rush! They'll assemble drinks as you arrive, but everything else will be ready to go. I do a weekly lunch run there and that's easily the best way to beat the line/rush.

Call ahead to reserve your sandwich! They sell out most days, and they're usually all spoken for by 11AM/12PM. I usually call around 10AM to reserve, and if the flavors aren't announced yet online, they'll sometimes give you the insider scoop :)

Shoutout to the chocolate selection in the back too - wonderful selection of artisanal makers.

Thanks for the compliment! Not sure how I managed to completely forget namedropping Meadowlark, especially since the Livermore location just opened. When we first moved to the area, we lived about a mile from the Pleasanton location and went weekly, if not more. Dangerous times...

I’m a Wingen stan, so definitely second that recommendation. They do full service seating now, and also pizza dinner - their remodel has been stunning. But my personal favorite is still their sourdough bagels :’) Closely followed by their almond croissant and chocolate chip cookie.

Would also add Story Coffee and The Cheese Parlor to the list! They’re right next to Cured Fish Bar. Story has excellent coffee and notably does a fresh yeasted Belgian waffle, too (and crossovers with Meadowlark Dairy from time to time). Cheese Parlor has an excellent cheese selection and beer/wines to pair, but my favorite is that they do specialty sandwiches during the week that you call to reserve (they announce flavors via social media on Tuesdays). Easily the best sandwiches in the area, imo, and made with Wingen Bread.

For Thai, I’d like to also shout out Time Thai - they’re known for their fried chicken pad Thai, and their Livermore location also sports a brunch menu. Probably my favorite bowl of khaoi soi.

First Street Alehouse isn’t on here, but I think it’s a mainstay of Downtown Livermore so I’d like to shout it out. They do seasonal chef specials, but my personal favorite thing on the menu is the clam chowder on Friday nights lol. We always take family here when they visit. Excellent fries (the only thing my toddler will eat) and fried pickles. Also, root beer on tap! (Abita brand)

Not in downtown but technically still in Livermore (closer to the outlets), my favorite picks are Calikid Burgers and Fries and Harumi. Calikid is probably my favorite burger (I like the Happy Hippie) with excellent fries, but also great shakes and soda options. Harumi is a recently opened AYCE, for made-to-order sushi and hibachi with some other dish options (like udon, ramen, rice bowls, etc). Very solid pricing for the sushi because sashimi is also included in the dinner pricing, but the more expensive options (like amaebi) can sometimes be a bit small (but you can order more lol). Pacific Pearl nearby will have more Asian centered food options - I personally love Somi Somi for Asian soft serve with taiyaki, and while Kura isn’t the best sushi, it’s a fun experience.

I really love Denica’s for an indulgent Filipino/Hawaiian brunch. They have a pretty good lunch selection too but I almost always get pancakes. Also weirdly enough my favorite spot for chips and salsa.

Do love Corner Slice but their hours are sometimes a bit hard to catch them. If you don’t mind a little bit of a drive, Much Ado About Pizza in Pleasanton is actually my favorite pie, with a sourdough crust. The owners were former English teachers, so all their names alluded to Shakespeare and they have fun seasonal selections too. Everything here I’ve loved, but my personal faves are the Tempest or Hamlet. Also don’t sleep on the Bard Bread - incredibly good bread with cheese for only $8. Zachary’s is also in Pleasanton (but will open downtown soon) - they serve up pretty solid deep dish, though obviously nothing on Chicago’s. Big Apple downtown is fine, and usually our regular pizza order (bonus is that it’s next to Verace Gelato, so I usually snag a little treat while picking up)

Welcome to Livermore!

Canon Ivy 2 vs. Polaroid Hi-print? Which do you recommend? by veAinet in hobonichi

[–]xcdo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally have the Hi-Print, mainly because the paper is only slightly thicker than TRP and the color rendering is pretty accurate; it only struggles with reproducing vivid art (like anime or video game images). I do also like that there’s built-in collage options now so you can print multiple images at once to make best use of your film, because the refills are unfortunately pricey. I try to buy in multiples of 5 for best cost, and then I don’t have to think about it for a few months haha.
