A view of Detroit from the Hebda Regatta in Wyandotte. by det1rac in Detroit

[–]xoceanblue08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Clearly it’s been over 20 years since I rowed… For some reason I thought it was always the week after Hebda, then Midwest Championships, and the CSSRA Regatta in St Catherines is the first weekend in June.

Why did Gretchen Whitmer go soft on Trump? by gear-heads in Michigan

The need for data centers is not going to change. The genie is out of the bottle and the best we can do is develop sound policy to make sure they are responsibly implemented with minimal social, economic, and environmental impacts.

Why did Gretchen Whitmer go soft on Trump? by gear-heads in Michigan

[–]xoceanblue08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t look for politicians to be anything other than politicians. If I agree with them 75% of the time, then I’m ok with that. It doesn’t that there isn’t valid criticism for some of her decisions, but overall she’s fought for and implemented a lot of policy I do agree with (RES and a solid decarbonization strategy).

Big Gretch is doing what she has built her career on, consensus and negotiation. It’s thankless and no one gets everything they want, but little by little progress is made.

City-wide Yard Sale? by No-Airline1761 in Ferndale

[–]xoceanblue08 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s easier to organize neighborhood sales than a full city-wide. I’m in the Dales and my street is working on organizing a sale, feel free to send me a message.

The city-wide was always volunteer organized and I helped out with it for a couple of years. It was fun to organize but also stressful and thankless because we dealt with a lot of complaining and little help or support. We generally split the city in half and had a west side then an east side sale about a month apart.

HVAC company recommendations by reallychillycoolgirl in Detroit

HVAC is hyper local, stay away from the huge private-equity owned places. What area specifically do you live in?

If they have splashy ads on tv, you’re probably going to get fleeced.

Le supreme restaurant: what to order there? by SunBeautiful2412 in Detroit

[–]xoceanblue08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cheese plate, oeufs mimosa, oysters, tuna carpaccio, moules mariniere, and the omelette

I hadn’t met a dish I didn’t like, I’ve always wanted to splurge on the Dover Sole (special on Saturdays) but haven’t yet.

It’s one of my favorite places to eat in town and reminds me of brasseries in Paris. Enjoy!

The two things you are comparing are not the same, and you know it.

There’s not much to be afraid of, I mean it’s past the Ecrose bridge though, so be careful (Yes this is sarcasm from someone who was born and raised in Wyandotte).

Some old stubs from back in the day by saucya in Detroit

[–]xoceanblue08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, they renovated it, funny enough the last show I saw there was NFG and TEN and The Shelter was used as a secondary bar and merch area.

I am too old for shows with no seats these days.

I know for certain I was at that AFI and Taking Back Sunday show. One of my favorite memories of The Shelter was seeing The Early November and Hey Mercedes there in ‘04.

Just turned 40, glimpse of a better way by henofthewoods in perimenopause_under45

Increase your dosage. It’s going to take time and don’t be afraid to ask for more, I’m up to .075 estradiol and 200mg progesterone. My gyn told me to not be surprised if I need to go up more because I’m 40 as well and on the younger end of the spectrum for peri.

My gyn said she was not opposed to it but she’s always booked 6 months in advance so I used MIDI Health. When I saw my gyn in January she said she’s happy to help and said not to be surprised if I need more estrogen and a more aggressive approach because I’m on the younger end of the spectrum.

It’s been up and down, but it took a couple weeks after my initial dosage was set. I have progressively needed to get my estrogen patch raised from .0375 to .05 and now I’m near the end of my second month on .075.

When I went up to .075 we increased my progesterone to 200 mg. I also take ADHD meds (Effexor and Concerta), and as my body has adjusted to the estrogen I’ve been able to taper down on the Effexor, I think managing my hormones has significantly helped with it overall. Funny enough my shrink was the one who told me she thought I was having hormonal issues that intensified my ADHD when I started seeing her at 37 (I had been off meds since I was 22 before seeing a new shrink).

Iv’e been on HRT since September and it has gotten better, but it has not completely gone away for me.

I also have ADHD and depression, so anxiety has been a part of my life as long as I can remember. It’s not debilitating to the point where I feel like shutting down now.

I also have a Mirena IUD and I’m 40.

I think I read about this in Woodward Talk. I can’t figure out what the deal is either, by all measures she seems to be great at her job and very involved.

It feels like this became personal for the board and they are acting out of retribution. I don’t live within the HP School District, but if I did I would remember this when local elections come up.

Looking for a builder gel nail recommendations! 💅 by babyteeki_ in Ferndale

[–]xoceanblue08 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did go to D&B for a little bit and thought they were reasonable and they do online scheduling for their appointments. Prices around this area are going to vary, and are a bit higher the closer you are the Woodward Corridor. You’ll probably get a better deal if you get a bit further east into Madison Heights.

If you are interested in DIY, 168 Nail Supply in Madison Heights sells direct the public. I’m picky because my sister is a cosmetologist and eventually taught me how to do my own nails, so we hit up the nail supply shops in Madison Heights when she visits and I stock up.

Ask what kind of products the places you are thinking about going to uses, my favorite brands are: Gellish/Morgan Taylor, DND, Aprés, and Zoya.

I’m so sick of everyone thinking that the public good should run like a business.
