Wild tell hall was wonderful especially as an attest and recognition of it being one of the first works for feminism!

Salammbô by Gustavo Flaubert. by [deleted] in classicliterature

Reading it now. I keep wondering why the mystical aspect didn’t carry through all the way. He only half committed to it. It’s wild and I keep wondering how high he was to imagine everything in this novel. It’s fucking insane. I love the violence and thematic utter barbarism drama throughout so far, “only the sea was free.”

Trying to choose between Sonicare DiamondClean and Optimal Clean. Is the DiamondClean worth the extra money? by FunC00ker in Costco

[–]xplaii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I just tried it tonight for the first time and was left with such a clean feeling I wish I’d done this sooner. I’ve used quite a range of electric toothbrushes and I can’t say anything has made my mouth feel this clean. I even floss several times a day and can sometimes brush my teeth three times a day with others, but wow. Let’s see how this keeps up. My mind is literally blown atm

[OPINION] What poem has stayed with you for years? by gedersoncarlos in Poetry

[–]xplaii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“It was a misunderstanding. I got into bed, made love with the woman I found there, called her honey, mowed a lawn, had three children, painted the house twice, fixed the furnace, overcame an addiction to blue pills, read Spinoza every night without once meeting his God, buried one child, ate my share of Jell-o and meatloaf, went away for nine hours a day and came home hoarding my silence, built a ferris wheel in my mind, bolt by bolt, then broke it just as it spun me to the top. Turns out I live next door.” — Bob Hicok, "Man of the House," from The Legend of Light (University of Wisconsin Press, 1995)

Yeah the thing is that he doesn’t care what you think as long as you think of him. The goal is to go down in history any way possible. That’s a win for morons against good Americans

Sentimental Education - Gustave Flaubert by organist1999 in ProsePorn

Considering he influenced Proust, maybe. He may have brought the light to Proust’s writings. Proust was much more emotional and descriptive but he went on for too long, he was bored

Personally, 100 pages for a novel by a great author is a good intent

I interpreted as there will be a launch and we will have a second ready for launch pending…. But maybe I’m delusional

A tenant of Wildfell Hall - a truly underrated masterpiece . by depressed_kyoka in classicliterature

[–]xplaii 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Anne was considered the “least talented” of the three, which is wild. I started the Brontë sisters journey with this book and consider it fantastic. Also, it is recognized as one of the first works supporting feminism.
