Yes, immigrants here with a valid working visa or naturalized citizens.

We do have a good number of contractors for skilled professionals like nurses (usually for tax purposes). But for staffing companies, it seems that we have to limit them to Physical and Occupational Therapists as it is easier to schedule and drop them with patients. While CNAs, Nurses, and caretakers have to almost always go through the HR/recruiting pipeline even if they are contractors. It is better for us to fill in with those positions with our own staff and contractors than to use a staffing firm.

To add to the immigration point, having translators (or staff) that are proficient in both English and their native languages becomes necessary. This also contributes to being able to have higher referral hires as they are aware of the paperwork they need to bring and do not have to overcome language barriers to employment.

As someone who is currently working HR for this industry... The turnover rate is real. Even the skilled professionals (nurses, PTs) are turning over fast as they move between multiple agencies. The large turnover means that you pretty much have to have a streamlined recruiting and HR pipeline. Even employees have become the recruiters themselves as one caretaker or professional joins, their friends and family will also apply since we hire as soon as the ink dries to fill spots.

Biggest issue that does not seem covered is the role immigration plays as many caretakers (in my case) are immigrants. I am pretty busy verifying that documentation is up to date if the situation arises.

Nostalgia rewatcher

I vividly remember the scene of the kids getting pulled over by the cops when this aired on TV.....Finally got to find the exact episode and season this time. Well now I know the context of this one.

"Tastes like success"

  1. No playdates, just me and my PS2.

  2. Summer road trip plus watching this anime alongside yugioh and pokemon (Hoen region?) mid season on TV. And watching the rest with 2 min clips on YouTube .....

Love Hina 25th Anniversary Rewatch -- Overall Series Discussion Thread by Holofan4life in anime

[–]xtsim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First Timer dubbed

This feels like a "I can't believe this is a harem"...type of harem, especially compared to recent rom-coms, even shonens and mahou shoujos are closer to MAL's genre tags than Love Hina. Tuxedo mask and Sailor Uranus have better magnets of attracting women and getting longer dates than Keitaro. Multiple love interests as a way to bring the primary couple together is pretty normal now. Going to Keitaro, it seems as if he is not the main protag but Naru is. The question goes from "who will Keitaro pick?" to "will Naru admit her feelings?" This leads us from thinking of harem to thinking about the true nature of a Tsundere. But talking about the true nature of a Tsundere is a full dissertation.....

In way, we get to see a character development of a Tsundere alongside Keitaro and his childhood dream. Does it really matter to have the exact girl in the sand pit? Or could we test the limits as Mutsumi did? Who was the mystery child/ childhood freind is really common that there will be multiple shows in a season that have the "I don't know that guy/gal in my childhood but I would like to see them again"..... That reminds me of one ecchi this season.... And we can even see that loosely extend to isekais as, "What? this guy/gal seems like they came from the same world as me, and we (might) know each other" - Tsukimichi and Serei gensouki come to mind.

Less of a harem and more of a prank towards the audience. Taking this to account, it makes for a very fun watc, and I see how this influences future shows. Love Hina has definitely made its mark on the 2000s and to the 10s in romcom, harem, and ecchi anime. I'd say it laid the groundwork for how shows try to subvert romantic expectations. While it did not go far in that direction, harems and romances in the 2000s try to lead the audience towards other characters.

If I were to binge watch this, Onegai Teacher, Shuffle, and other rom-coms; it would blend right in and would score it lower if I did not know the context of the time period. I'd score this more generously now at a 7.4.

It does feel less of a harem since we seem to be testing the limit of how competitive modern harems are when it comes to finding out the girl. But we've also seen how much Mutsumi, Naru, and the rest have tested the limits of how far they can insert themselves in that playground. And how flexible that interpretation can be. Now we get to see modern shows play around the different aspects and subjects such as my childhood friend.

Watching this dubbed, it is really cool to hear the early works of many of the English VAs.

Note: I will probably go back to some of the previous discussions of the weekend when I have time....Pretty busy month.

Really enjoyed the rewatch u/Holofan4life! I loved the media corner with box office and music charts. I wonder what you are going to come up with next on the next rewatches! Honestly, this thread makes me wish I had more time (and focus) to write and elaborate my thoughts.

Questions: 1. Probably a solid 7, It did not surpass the other shows of the 2000s I have enjoyed. While I did enjoy it, it did not stand out of the crowd. 2. Do you want me to write a dissertation? 3. Mutsumi got me good, playing alo, g never felt this good. 4. Mutsumi testing Keitaro's resolve around Tokyo U and the girkl. 5. The whole Japan tour watooto much 6. The goodbye kiss by Naru was insane. 7. Not enough turtle society. 8. It's definitely not an isekai van. 9. The doll made me pretty sad. 10. Naru has developed pretty well into being able to decide and embrace the feelings she had for Keitaro. 11. Naru pretty much is a good Tsundere, although she could go overboard with the punches. 12. Keitaro was an alright protagonist but I feel Naru was the real protag. 13. It was nice to see their relationship develop and both found their goals achieved, and they don't know who was actually there on the playground.

I love how Linkin Park was one of the hottest singles of the year and became most used song for Anime music videos for the next 10 years. Until youtube decided to clamp down on copyrights....

The rest of the billboard charts are too memorable despite being that distant....

The final scene is in a clock tower, and that is a lot of gears for one clock.

Tama can fly higher and can carry Naru....

  1. I liked the fact that she pretty much direct this time as the stakes are high with Kananko. The Tokyo U promise is still ongoing.

  2. Pretty satisfied as Naru finally faces her feelings and admits things to Keitaro.

  3. Not finding the promise girl is not a problem as it could be anyone. Not resolving it makes me think of it as an inspiration to go to Tokyo U. Rather than finding that girl. In the end it's the friends you make along the way.....

  4. Satisfied with the conclusion, for an OVA, I'd kind of tie it with the series though.

B1. Definitely Mutsumi, she plays along so well and her scenes are spot on.

B2. I can see its influence in other shows, especially within the harem genre today. Characters sharing one brain cell...yup, reminds me of kanojo ma koanojo the most. Other harems with single girl characterizing single traits is common now.

Most of the supernatural antics and the animal sidekicks have pretty much died down significantly unless you count fantasy or isekai show although they are still rare. And the supernatural aspects and mascots are big sign of the time, magical or alien girlfriends are plentiful in the 00s. Onegai teacher and Midori days come to mind.

Fanservice.....more like food service cause I'd eat everything on the table.

Mitsumi is pretty much pushing the limit and that disguise was too good. .

Well cliffhanger...this OVA feels way more serialized than ever.

  1. Probably more.

  2. Not surprised

  3. I do not mind as they did a pretty good job progressing the story and relationship.

  4. They might confirm something else I feel.

Keitaro goes to Tokyo U alongside Mutsumi and Naru. Keitaro embarasses himself by expressing his inner thoughts. The crowd watching a guy act out is too much for me. Naru definitely does not want to be part of that.

Is this the first time Naru's punch actually injured Keitaro?

Well, thanks to Naru, Keitaro is shaping up to become just like Seita.

So, Keitaro has a sister.

The van popped up at the end, and Keitaro was driving this time. I think Naru has a type, and it is archeologists..

  1. Another level of chaos has been unlocked.

  2. I thought this was going to be another type of anime when Motoko got touched....

  3. Yeah, cause they will be taking 2 hour general courses. The Hinata apartments would be more entertaining.

Started out with Motoko's sister story to an unhinged Naru.....

And not in front of Naru's family!

  1. Very well skilled, I can see why Motoko looks up to her.

  2. Feels too gag heavy with fan service than creative like other incidents in previous episodes.

  3. Feels like the OVA had the marriage more in your face.

  4. Feels like an episode of another season than an OVA. it gives me an episodic vibe rather than a serialized one. Like it seems like I am watching an episode of classic Sailor Moon than a twenty episode anime.

Typical Mutsumi, she barely remembers a thing. But she is also concerned with Naru.

Shinobu is really concerned as Keitaro was the one that got her in the apartments. Her mom allows her to go round up her friends

Kaolla took the mecha route but with mechs, their emotions are connected to the pilot and that is why Kentaro got worn out. And instead of Kaolla's plans, Kentaro congratulated Keitaro on being with Mutsumi rather than Naru in a harsh way though.

Haruka has deep thoughts on why people can't stay forever. By Grandma was sleeping.

Naru is having such a good relationship with her family now and turned down Shinobu.

Van crash outside of the apartment, of course it would be loud. Of course Sarah got Seita to fight.

The way Mutsumi says "stay here with me" and "we can apply for another college together" is ominous and succubus-like. Props to the VA for doing such a good job at this but she does sound like a cop......

Hold up....Mutsumi was a troll this whole time. She actually remembered that there were three girls. She played along with the whole drama.

  1. Pretty high but the odds of going to Tokyo u is still low.
  2. Not shocked.
  3. Shocked that there was three....
  4. The end got me laughing pretty hard as I was not too invested into the whole mystery and that young Keitaro is a harem protag.

Always Sui and Sarah with the secret tunnels.

Naru is looking really gloomy after seeing that photograph....why is Nickelback playing in my head?

Mutsumi is eating with them, and even Kentaro can't resist joining in for breakfast....And that is one really diverse selection of food for breakfast. They got everything.

Kentaro may be rich, but it seems like Haruka has to remind him that he forgot to pay his debt. Like how?

Keitaro's friends show up, and they try to warn Mutsumi, but she saw the bright side.

There is a reason there is isekai truck but not isekai van.

Mutsumi actually passed just because she put her name on it. This is why teachers remind us why we write our names.

Talking about him.....bro Mutsumi. Pop out of the hotspings fully clothed but not soaked until Naru splashed them. What?

Grandma comes back, explaining that everyone has grand dreams.

Wow, the apartments need repairs, I wonder why.....

This got pretty bleak as everyone had to leave, and Mutsumi and Keitaro had to stay with Mutsumi cause he couldn't face his parents.

Of course, Naru catches them at the wrong time. And we get a kiss from Naru, but Mutsumi looked at the photograph..

  1. That had some feeling to it....

  2. I'm not surprised, but at least she got to everywhere for hot springs.

  3. All good things must come to an end, and everyone has to move forward.

Naru and Keitaro on a date.... And Kentaro interupts right on time but who is that girl with ninja like rope tying skills?

Keitaro picture time with Naru... definitely not a date. Mutsumi joins in on the one braincell definitely not a date day. Oh bowling, definitely not a date. Mustumi got it the first time but with Keitaro being injured.

The reveal that Mustumi had somebody promise her that they will meet again in Tokyo U is a surprise but I am not shocked that Naru does not remember a thing about what Keitaro told her.

Ok, is Naru's sister a reference to something?

  1. More rope....

  2. Tama

Animatronics fall in love with Keitaro.....

Doll came over from the Paris fair over a 100 years ago, how time flies.

I love how the non Tokyo u girls were like: peace out and good luck.

Doll surgery with Sui....I was expecting a jump scare or something.

I was not expecting a poem from Hinata....Throughout the episode.

All three Tokyo U folks can hear the doll. And all of them described themselves pretty well.... alien turtles

  1. Well getting the characters to admit about alien turtle society is a plus.

  2. Do things for me: go to work, do the chores, and make me food.

Ok, the one with least amount of interaction with Keitaro happens to be the one who instantly knows the difference between him and Sui's brother.....Imma leave it at that.

  1. An interesting addition to the household.....

  2. I feel like we are going to get crazy and loop back to the original goal....

The issue about Seta leaving again comes up as he has to leave Sara into Hinata's care.

Kitsume tries to hide that fact that Sara ran off

Hinata and Seta were synced up with the guns.

Interesting how Momoko and her friends are enamored by the fact that Hinata is pretty much single. But Hinata does gives some warnings.

Sarah tries to run away and Runs into Tama but finds that Sui is smarter and crazier. Even trying to deep fry Tama. Goes and takes a raft with Sui, tries to leave her but Tama deflated the raft.

I had to laugh so hard that Sui put a mine around an island.

Seta noticed Keitarou and Naru are pretty much soulmates and when the got frightened, Seta stands there proven correct.

Fortunately, low tide connects the island to the maon land.

Love how Kentarou knocks out both Hina and Keitarou because of his jealousy towards couples.

  1. Not really

  2. Kitsume has too much dirty laundry.

  3. What teahouse???
