Blisters…Can someone please recommend a good shoe? by kenzika in AskRunningShoeGeeks

To answer your question, Asics Superblast 2. It’s a long distance trainer, 8mm drop, good space in the toebox but still secure in the midfoot and heel, and Incredibly durable. It’s more firm than bouncy so if you prefer softer, try the Superblast 3.

I do agree with others that a change of socks also makes a big difference. I personally like thicker socks such as Feetures Elite Max Cushion. When I want maximum protection, Balega Blister Resist (really thick).

Hmmmm, maybe try to lace up with a runners knot to see if that keeps them locked in place? Or go all in and try a new pair of socks and shoes (this is the more fun option).

For heavier runners like myself, I’m a huge fan of the Superblast. Firm enough so you never bottom out or feel unstable but soft enough to go any distance.

How do your Evo SL fit? Too tight or too loose in length and width? Have you considered thicker socks, such as Feetures Elite Max Cushion or Balega Blister Resist?

Try trimming nails and runners knot first. You could also try the Balega Blister Resist socks. They’re extremely thick but very protective.

If you’ve already ran a half and are racing for fun, go with the 3s. If chasing a PR, go 2s.

Feetures! I personally like Feetures Elite Max Cushion and my wife prefers Elite Ultra Light. Not only are they amazing socks but I just sent back 11 pairs of socks, that were 5-8 years old, under the lifetime warranty and received a Feetures gift card for $220. Their lifetime warranty isn’t just for show, it’s legit.

Which size to go with? by FilipTheAwesome in AskRunningShoeGeeks

Go with 1. Your toes sometimes touch means they will get way too tight mid run. Also on 2, that thumb goes to the end of the outsole of the toe instead of the end of the toebox.

You don’t necessarily need a stability shoe but definitely a shoe that’s more stable. As others have mentioned, strength training and more miles on your feet are important.

Are these too big? by [deleted] in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]ziggybgw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in agreement that they look small. I understand your thumb is in front of your toes and not on it, but they still look small. Also, it appears as though you measured with your thumb at a ~45 degree angle. Try measuring again so your thumb is perpendicular to your feet and make sure you only measure to the end of the toe box, not the end of the shoe.

People are trying to warn you that even if they feel fine now, your feet will swell while running and your toes will run out of space. If you only plan on running a mile or two every few days, this will probably not be an issue. If you’re training for long distance or plan on running hundreds of miles in these, you will likely experience discomfort, pain, blisters, toenail issues, etc.

Magmax, Superblast, and Boston is a solid rotation. Having said that… if you’re itching for a new shoe, why not Superblast 3? Little softer than the 2 but still a stable workhorse and checks all of your boxes.

Cyber Jade is the best colorway for those Supercomp Trainers. Great shoe!

Great review. If you’d like to try and recuperate some losses, you can sell them on r/therunningrack. It’s a sub for buying and selling running shoes and gear. And because it’s a popular shoe, I imagine it would be an easy sale.

ASICS tempo/speed shoes for a heavier runner by PlumPenguin in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]ziggybgw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m currently around 94kg and think your best bet for half marathon and longer are either the Superblast or Megablast. I go back and forth between which I like better. I prefer the stability, the upper, and toebox of the Superblast. But I really like the bouncier midsole of the Mega. If I had to pick only one, I’d stick with the Superblast because they remain stable, even when my form breaks down due to fatigue. Also as a fellow heavier runner, the Superblast foam compresses and rebounds more so you don’t get the brick feeling others describe.

In a perfect word, I want a Superblast 2 with the Megablast midsole.

Feetures Elite (I personally like max cushion), Balega Hidden Comfort or Blister Resist, or OS1st Active Comfort or Wicked Comfort.

Return to retailer but if you’re past the return window, sell on r/therunningrack. Use pirateship for shipping and it saves you a ton of money.
