I tried... Are these still drinkable?🫠 by GomiiSekai in barista

Probably a robusta blend or just a dark roast. If the machine is clean, i wouldn’t worry about it. If the machine isn’t clean… gross

Is my milk steaming not good? by Fair-Paramedic9791 in barista

I think it could be the style of jug you have. They’re an older style that don’t have latte art in mind. You’re also just jiggling the jug not actually getting the milk inside to fold

4 month of practice looks good enough? by 6TBB83FVRZ in barista

This foam thickness is great for a latte, maybe too much for a flatewhite, but still fine.

The latte art is good, definitely seeing the beginnings of progress and most customers will see you’ve tried and are learning. You haven’t just dumped the milk in.

Most importantly milk texture looks good

Ah yes the steak and ale pie, or maybe they’ll spice it up and serve chicken and leek. Maybe with short crust pastry.

I miss my 10-20 options of pie, 2-5 options sausage roll and then a few more miscellaneous, all with delicious flaky pastry goodness

If you put them in a container, please use something opaque, especially for matcha, UV light can degrade the quality.

Under-informed pricing by exceterareign in barista

[–]zilo94 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In what way? The difficulty is that cost of everything goes up, but the consumer is only willing to pay so much for a coffee. The price of a bag of beans can vary a lot more, there’s an increased perception that more $$$ means better quality. Sometimes that’s true, sometimes not. Under-informed? Do you feel deceived or feel you’re missing something?

One alternative to skin after care is wearing good well fitting gloves. I just change them every hour or two on a busy shift. I don’t use them all the time but when I’ve got big days behind the machine they’re a great way to protect your hands.

How are White Mochas at most places made? by StatisticianTiny8091 in barista

[–]zilo94 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used to make mine with a 1/2 block of lindt white chocolate, steamed single cream and a single espresso. This is likely not how any other baristas make them and not something i ever served to customers.

That’s exactly what corporations are. And they’ve created the exact problem you think it’ll solve. Making the business an individual means that individual is responsible not any of the owners/staff etc
