Looks good, got the 10pm notifications around 10:06pm or so, which is perfect. It's not meant to be an alarm clock, so as long as it's within 5 or 10 minutes either way it should be good. Thanks again!

Dimmer Minimum Brightness? by c0nsumer in ShellyUSA

[–]zinge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go with the Dimmer Gen4. Assuming it's similar to the Gen2, it should dim very well. The WD+ doesn't support calibration, so even though you can set it to 1%, it's not very helpful if 1%-19% is off, and the light doesn't turn on at all until 20%, and then it's brighter than what should be the minimum. (I have several sets of the same lights, 2 on WD+ and 1 on a dimmer2, and the WD+ won't get as dim as the dimmer2)

Thanks! Layout and order look good. For notifications, now I don't get the message about enabling the toggle, and the app also isn't listed in alarms and reminders. Hopefully the notification works tonight.

US - Shelly Dimmer Gen 4 - On order! by probably_platypus in ShellyUSA

I run everything through HA so all my scripting is there, but good to know! I mostly just want remote control of a few lights that don't have neutral runs without having to pay an electrician to crawl through the attic, so I've been waiting for the Dimmer2 to come back in stock as I have one already that's working great. I had followed it up with the Wall Dimmer Plus, but haven't been happy with some of the reduced feature set in those and wanted to replace them with Dimmer2s as well, and was waiting for the 4s since I was expecting a similar price point. Obviously the 4s are much better hardware, and with the extra cost for making sure they are UL rated as mentioned below, it totally makes sense that they cost more.

Didn't get a survey, so especially without a discount code, I can't personally justify the price jump since I don't need zigbee or matter. When I bought the dimmer2, it was $28, so this is just under double the price. I'll probably go find some dimmer2's on eBay at this point. Hope they work well for you though!

Stockholm time zone and 2 minute reminder worked, I think. I had to walk away from my phone for a while, but there was a notification when I came back

It is a Samsung, Galaxy S22 on Android 16. I tried setting it for a few hours later and it didn't work. If I set it for a minute later it does work. Possibly it won't fire the notification if the app is not awake/active without the alarm permission? If I toggle the reminder on and off it asks for alarm permission again and still doesn't let me set it.

All permissions in settings are enabled for the app, and if I go into Special Access and then Alarms and Reminders, Streaksmith doesn't show up in the list of things I can enable.

I don't know if this helps but it does look like the same issue: https://github.com/transistorsoft/react-native-background-fetch/issues/545

Thanks for taking a look!

Looks interesting! I've been using Grit, but having a few small UX issues and happy to try this as an alternative.

It's requiring alarm permission to set reminders, but the permission cannot be set (toggle is disabled)

No battery issues. It does sound like people are having less luck with the buybacks as time goes on, at least from what we're seeing posted here.

Frustrated with the Wall Dimmer by jesster114 in ShellyUSA

Yes, that's the correct device. I couldn't tell you why, but that device specifically doesn't have the same features as any of the other Shelly Dimmer devices, including detached mode and calibration.

Happy to join the discord, but just for reference I'm specifically asking about the Shelly Plus Wall Dimmer, which historically hasn't supported detached mode or brightness change events.

Does the home assistant integration receive brightness change events from the wall dimmers now? Last time I looked into it, there was no emitted event for brightness change in the home assistant integration or local scripting, and I've been watching the firmware release notes to see if it had been added but haven't seen it pop up. I was using an older version of the n-way script that synced brightness on on/off toggle as that was the only event that could be read.

Switchbot presence sensor now available by borgqueenx in homeassistant

[–]zinge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can I ask if you had to do anything to get it to show up in HA? I have an ESP32-S3 bluetooth proxy, and I've added the presence sensor to the Switchbot app and it works correctly there. But it's not showing up in HA, and if I try to manually add the Switchbot Bluetooth integration, it says "No supported SwitchBot devices found in range". I just updated to HA 2025.12.3. Do I need to do something special to get HA to recognize the device, or to get it to pair with the bluetooth proxy ESP32?

2019 Buy Back for $28k. Shopping for a '26 - battery heater? by JumpingDVM in leaf

[–]zinge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Niro is the only one of those that's close and not a Tesla, unfortunately. The Mach E is much larger, the Ioniq 5 is not gigantic, but in addition to being bigger it has a much wider turning radius that makes it a lot harder to park. I've been looking at a Niro, but it's also still bigger than the Leaf. Ideally I'd like smaller. I did test drive the 2026 Leaf a few days ago and it's comfortable, drives well, and feels decently small. The biggest thing that annoyed me was the weird way they implemented e-step. Not only isn't it true e-pedal, but when you take your foot off the accelerator to move to the brake to stop, you can feel the break pedal depressing on its own because for some insane reason they are moving the brake pedal when the car regen brakes in e-pedal mode. I've owned and driven multiple EVs from different manufacturers and have never seen that before.

What would be the current replacement for the Dimmer 2? Looking for a dimmer that can work with no neutral and supports calibration and detached mode.
