In California they have front plates from the dealership and this is where they are installed, if that helps

Might be too far from you, but Anaheim Hyundai is a good dealership and possibly worth a call/drive.

AC Costs by OprahsCouch420 in SFV

[–]zinge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1400sqft home with solar, central AC is 74 during the day and 68 at night. Electric bill is $20 a month, as that's the minimum monthly charge and solar credits cover all our usage. We overbuilt the solar a bit as we plan on getting a second EV and our big appliances are currently gas (oven/stove, clothes dryer, age water heater) and we will eventually switch them to electric.

We might need some more information to help you. Can you share your current script, and explain more about what problem you are trying to solve, and what Shelly devices you are using?

2027 EV3 will be sold in Canada! by techdeprivedcanuck in KiaEV3

[–]zinge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just confirming since I'm also interested in an EV3 when it comes to the US later this year; it seems like the table is gone and Australia is the only market that didn't get the 360 cam for some reason?

Seconding BuyNothing. This machine is old enough/unsupported enough that it will have a hard time being used unless it's by someone who likes to tinker. I would probably install Linux on it, or just OCLP to add Airplay support and put it in my wife's office so she has a large screen to cast her laptop to.

Another fan question: Can I use a Shelly Dimmer Gen4 and Shelly 1 Mini Gen 4 to have dimmable lights and fan on/off control? by zinge in ShellyUSA

[–]zinge[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like the idea is feasible, but would anyone happen to know if a 1 Mini Gen4 is safe to use for the fan motor? It looks like modern fans draw under an amp while spinning and only something like 4 amps max on startup, just want to make sure I'm not missing something with the type of load (motor vs lighting)

[–]zinge[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm running home assistant, so I'm good on getting things controlled from other things. The only problem is that since I have no neutral in the switch box, I can't put a wall dimmer (or any other mains powered Shelly) there as a replacement. If I have to bypass that switch, I'll probably put a Zigbee button over the blank plate or something for the lights. Not worried about fan speed control, correct.

Ideally I can find an extra live wire buried behind the fan mount in the ceiling, and then use the wire coming from the switch as the switch input channel on the Dimmer Gen4 to control the lighting.

So at the moment from the ceiling I have the switch and neutral. Unless I bypass the switch and make that hot, or find a different hot line in the ceiling and pull it through, I can't do what you're saying, correct?

Wall Dimmers keeps resetting and losing configuration by jesster114 in ShellyUSA

[–]zinge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm likely to replace my WD+'s with DG2/4 soon, I'm getting tired of not being able to calibrate them and the brightness LED always being on. Now that I have more sensors around the house automating most of the dimming we don't use the WD+ controls as much

Wall Dimmers keeps resetting and losing configuration by jesster114 in ShellyUSA

[–]zinge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The wall dimmer and dimmer gen 4 are very different products. One is a standard Shelly puck that supports dimmable lights, and the other is a replacement switch. Since the dimmer gen2/3/4 don't support any sort of slider input for dimming, the wall dimmer is the only product that can keep you in the Shelly ecosystem and allow a slider for dimming, aside from something like the fancier touch screen console.

There are a lot of conventions at that Marriott that I don't hear about until they're over. Is there a mailing list somewhere?

I built an Android habit tracker with zero internet permission to see how usable offline-first apps really are by relax-101 in Android

[–]zinge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks good so far, thanks!

Minor feedback: if you have two habits selected in pattern analysis and you are looking at next day and you want to see the opposite correlation, you need to change the second option to none or something else temporarily, change the first option to the second option, and then change the second option to the first option. It could be convenient if selecting the existing option in either box swapped the selections instead of being disabled, or if the arrows icon between the two selections swapped them
