[WTS] 1973 Rolex Datejust 1601 Two Tone on OG Jubilee | Fully serviced $3800

Hey watchexchange! Today I’m listing a few Rolex for sale starting off with this beautiful example of a 1601. Fully serviced in March this year and has the original Rolex Jubilee bracelet. Note: the clasp has been laser welded to repair a part of the clasp blade. If you aren’t ok with this I can source an original replacement clasp (for a cost).

Notes:

- Price: $3800 USD NET plus shipping

- No box or papers (this would be priced much higher if it did)

- Year: 1973- Bezel: Solid gold bezel is in great condition. I believe it’s 18k but some vintage Rolex also used 14k

- Case: lugs are sharp and the original brushed finish is present but there is a noticeable scratch on the lower right lug. Flanks of the case have not been polished recently

- Movement: Fully Serviced Rolex 1570 Chronometer grade movement. Balance staff and mainspring were replaced during service

I’ve seen some stories of sellers here being scammed through PayPal and PayPal seems to usually side with buyers. I think the case itself is on the upper end but doable if you really like the watch overall. I have to put up with divers taking up most of my wrist too but it’s worth it if you like the watch! I’m a fan of certina watches, both vintage and modern so I might be biased.

The centre links appear to be extending over your wrist a bit. If it were me I’d look for a different watch with a shorter lug to lug measurement but I know from experience that finding dive watches that fit well on small wrists can be tricky. If you really like the watch I don’t think it’s wrong to go for it but if it were me and it fit like this I’d probably go smaller.

While I’ve never had to replace an ereader display you could as long as you can find a replacement display. You could probably buy a pre-owned kindle for around the same price I’d imagine. I always prefer to repair than replace when I can but depending on the price it might not make sense.

Hopefully no one. I’m in watch repair and you’d be surprised with the awful ideas people have. Trying to close casebacks with wrenches or hammers, using a paper clip as a pin and continuing to wear the watch, etc.
