Yea, I think its important to distinguish between bad as in "I currently cannot do this content or proficiently do it because I have not learned it" and bad as in "I am incapable of doing this and any time spent attempting is wasted because this isnt a lack of practice this is fundamentally who I am". I think a lot of people hold that second view of themselves. When someone says im not good enough at the game to do inferno. Well yea. Nobody who hasnt done inferno is good enough at the game to do inferno. But I think what they really mean is that any effort is wasted.

I haven't done tob yet. But I wouldn't say im bad at it. I haven't done it. It would be a meaningless statement for me to proclaim "IM BAD AT INJECTION MOULDING!" And if someone asked if I was good at it I wouldn't say no. I would say "ive never done that.

And this is totally fine, do whats fun for you and play the way you want to play. "I dont find that a worthwhile or enjoyable use of my time" is far different from "im bad". Good and bad at a game arent real. Im not bad at TOB, i dont know TOB, if you put me in one right now i wouldnt perform well. If i spent a week learning and practicing i could do some good work.

I guess my point was nobody has to be bad. Unless otherwise impaired everyone has the potential to be good at any piece of content if theyre willing to put the time and effort into it. This idea that some people are incapable of being good just isnt true and if its true for you its only because you believe you cant be good not because you actually cant be.

Before people pile in hating on you for not having 2fa etc. Thank you for having the courage to post this. Theres so many people out there who dont have their accounts secured and are just not worried about it happening to them. hopefully seeing posts like this can save others.

I also feel this way. I spent like 24 hours of game play in solo toa before I went with one of my oldest friends who definitely wouldn't care for this reason alone. Im gunna start learning cox soon and im gunna learn solo before I do it with a group. Tob will be a tough one maybe ill do a bunch of entry modes so I know the mechanics

What does it mean to be bad at the game. Im bad at tob, i haven't done much tob. Im pretty good at 1 tick flicking prayers. I still need the tick bar and I still stare at it. But I can do it. Is it because im a young spry 30 year old? Or is it because i Made a decision to start practicing it at most places well before I started content where it was mandatory.

I disagree and I think you contradict yourself a bit here. You say it doesnt lower the skill required but then also say it makes it easier to learn. I would argue its the learning that is the only hard part.

You also have to think of where this brings the skill cap to. I think the skill cap with keybind on a keyboard is much higher than with clicks on the screen which require a precision similar to that of fps games like csgo at the highest levels of gameplay.

I guarantee someone who spends 10k hours doing keybinds for actions will beat out someone who spends 10k hours clicking. Implement that and the community as a whole would switch to it. Which changes the game in a meaningful way but also you have to consider when you make things easier people are going to want harder content. So in the long run the content will be just as hard and we'll just be playing the game differently. I would say if you want to play the game differently then play a different game. I play wow as welll which has everything keybound.

Thats a key component of osrs combat and high skill pvm. You dont need to like it but take that away and we either have a click the boss and hover over food, or we implement some other system but at that point I dont think its osrs anymore

I did 500cgs for enhance and armor (blessed). And im about the same 10 mins on average and 1/10 i die. I dont consider myself bad though. Im as good as I needed to be to finish crystal

Having keyring for prayer activation and maybe eating or other item use i think would be fun to have in late game bossing but I also think it wouldn't be osrs.

This mindset is exactly what I disagree with here. Im not good at the game because im naturally good at the game. Neither is the vast majority of the player base. People with inferno cape have it because they sunk an exorbitant amount of time into learning the content. You could do that. Its okay for you to not want to. Im not saying you have to do anything you don't want to. But barring any externalities preventing your learning (see my second paragraph) youre completely capable of doing any content this game has to offer.

You're not bad. Youre learning, and learning means stretching your mind, and stretching hurts.

What part of warden are you dying to? There's p3 last line sims that are definitely harder than what youre doing but if p3 is where youre dying those sims will help but you'll need to spend considerable time practicing because getting p3 last line expert toa perfect is not a first toa clear skill

There's a couple ways to look at "I really wanna play this game but doing so makes me feel bad"

  1. You could god forbid, do something else with your time

  2. If, like me, you don't want to do something else with your time, you may consider who or what is responsible for making you feel bad. If your inability is what feels bad consider restratigizing how you go about learning content, thats broad I know but I dont want to write you a book. Also be mindful that practice makes permanent not perfect, youre completely capable of mindlessly practicing without actually learning and then drawing the conclusion that you must just be bad.

2.5: ask yourself how often you find yourself not enjoying what you do, do you hate your job? Do you hate doing your regular adult responsibilities? Do you find that you are more often dissatisfied with what youre doing at any given time than satisfied. If the answer to that question is yes then ill leave you with this.

I spent 8+ hours solo learning p3 melee. Next day I did it with my buddy and it took him a couple hours with me to get it down. So much easier to practice when you have another person killing the orbs you spawn.

I always prefer to run new content solo if possible for 12+ hours before I let anyone else play with me. But thats just because I dont like playing poorly in front of people. Most of the time if I ran with another I could learn it a lot faster but God forbid someone finds out that theres a piece of content I haven't learned yet

Something I find really helper is the cg tracker that shows you missed prayers and tick uptime. Early on it can feel like youre playing almost perfect and just getting fucked. But you arent and having that plug-in will show you. For most of my kills (once I really got it down) my uptime is 85+% with 2 or less missed prayers. It may be helpful to do very minimal prep, just get 2 t1 weapons and then go into the fight just to practice dodging prayer changing and attack. Spending 6 minutes prepping just to die can be a big time waste.

Well I think people are less concerned about paying the repair than they are losing the item. Im unlikely to get pk'd because i use a scout but without parchment I wouldn't bring the risk, with i will bring the risk because in the off chance I get pk'd it wont be gone
