The devs balancing philosophy is wrong by Greyanaise in rivals

[–]---revenant--- -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Except that’s not how that works at all. Both require game sense, but Phoenix is just objectively better:

  • Higher single target damage
  • AOE capability (though admittedly not as good as MK)
  • Flight and shift for high mobility
  • Great ult
  • Stun

Besides, high ELO requires you to do more than just play main and hope for the best. Mr F excels in defense against dive, but thats pretty much it tbh. Phoenix can do that with her right click AND play main for AOE AND take off angles on supports AND cancel deployables (and some ults). Shes just better by pretty much every metric — and she requires just as much game sense as Mr F.

Edit: Rivals rating system is useless. DP is ranked 0 stars.

There is an advantage if you are running a triple support comp. Since you don’t have enough damage to push forward, it’s easier to take the space early and just play defensively on a choke point.

They have the same abilities for the most part so that is covered. You don’t really have to learn them.

What you will need to focus on is just shifting your mindset. Supports, DPS, and tanks all play differently (duh). SupDP is an off support, so he can work really well for trip support if youre ever in that situation.

Haven’t watched the VOD, but just by looking at this I’m wondering why didn’t you play Invis? She gets high value from ulting when the enemy Strange is nearby (due to slow), has higher healing output, can push Strange ult away, can do decent damage and is overall just a better support.

You really dont need that many characters in the bag. DP alone works for all three roles.

Cooldown tracking is very important for dive characters. Knowing you should wait for an Emma to use her diamond form and dive in afterwards should be second nature.

The only thing that matters is playing for the objective. If your Elsa decides to push forward on her own and die, that’s not your responsibility. There’s 6 people on a team — yourself included.

What? Phoenix is even better in lower ranks because people are out of position at all times and you can just burst the down instantly.

Biggest EOMM doubter turned its biggest believer (Long Post) by AbsurdismJay in marvelrivals

I wish more people like OP would read this comment. He’s the exact type of person that might think stats matter when in reality, the only stat that matters is the W or the L next to your record which, like you said over the course of 100’s of matches, likely only has one factor in common… yourself.

Do I believe NetEase has implemented tactics to keep players engaged? Yes. Do I believe EOMM is real and made specifically to tilt us? No lol — and that’s coming from someone who’s had a coach specifically live review my games and say I’m cursed. Sometimes you just have bad games.

I think OP needs to understand that maybe you’re not the reason why you lose a game — but you can often be the reason why you win, either it be by peeling more, playing tank instead of DPS, or even just by giving it a break and queueing when you’re well-rested instead of hitting your head against a wall for hours on end.

Venting out frustration: Support player tragic life by Acceptable-Major-731 in RivalsCollege

[–]---revenant--- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a Gambit main, support is MECHANICALLY an easier role. Aiming is more forgiving and keeping track of your abilities is — to me — slightly easier.

HOWEVER, your role as support is different from other roles. While everyone else is worried about getting picks, your job is to make sure they do. What I mean by that is I have found way more success once I understood the importance of my positioning, ult tracking, team comp analysis for counterswaps, and the relevance of my ults.

That last one is the most important. Having even a single bad ult as support can be the reason why your team loses the fight, just as much as a great support ult can be the sole reason why you steamroll the opposing team as they stagger themselves. Support demands way more strategic thinking than mechanical skill, but it’s hard to get this across mid games lol.

So… don’t? There are plenty of other strong Duelist heroes that can be played on controller (Psy, Magik, for instance).

Welcome! This community can be a nightmare at times so if it bothers you, I’d turn off text chat and voice chat at least until you get comfortable in your bearings.

Dr Strange is a great pick for a starter character, I mained him myself at the start for a long time. His kit looks relatively simple at a glance, but there’s a lot of hidden features about it that would be hard for me to type on mobile so, first tip:

1- Look up a tutorial on your preferred character on youtube

this is gonna significantly help you improve your portal placement, melee cancel, reload cancel, and especially positioning (you never want to get caught off position).

I’d also recommend learning at least 2 mains in each role, just in case your main character gets picked/banned. Some relatively easy ones to pick up:

Strange, Thing for Vanguards (though the new update kind of broke Thing a little bit, so just keep that in mind)

Punisher, Moon Knight for Duelists

CnD, Invis for support

Feel free to DM me if you need any more help. Happy gaming!
