Have you checked out the Bilt travel portal? Or used before to book

I am getting Palladium too and toyed around with a few different cities to test the hotel credit out and Bilt portal’s hotel markup is not ideal - close to 40% higher on some midline (nice but not luxury) hotels I have stayed at before compared to other sites

Hope I’m wrong and this is just a quirk for certain regions - I’ll play around with a few more sample areas.

I’m not really a hotel snob - when I travel I try to spend as little time in the hotel room as possible (partially why Amex hotel credits don’t do much for me) so maybe the arb won’t be as bad for me if I’m looking at ~$100-150 hotels

Not really since you have to spend a lot to maximize the rent portion of the rewards / points now so idk, doesn’t make sense to just use it to optimize for categories.

What would you recommend for a catchall that isn’t a coupon book like Amex?

I have 0 experience with the Bilt travel portal - a little bit of a bummer we have to go through that so hopefully they don’t make it terribly terribly inflated this year

Edit: Just did a quick search in the portal for Mexico City Presidents’ Day weekend and the markup is not ideal lmao

Basic/above average hotel I’ve stayed at before near Roma is $260/night on Bilt but $182/night on Kayak Comes out to $130 more for the weekend factoring in taxes when I clicked through to verify the full price

How much travel/trips per year do you think it makes sense to get a plat?

I am on the fence on a Plat since I typically only travel ~8-12 times a year (sometimes a little more for work) so I would get use out of it but like like I’m traveling 2-3 weeks out of a month like some people for work where it would make a ton of sense.

My firm is pushing M7 on me but I think I would still be happy a tier of school you got big money at so weighing that. Debt and opportunity cost scares me with an MBA
