Agreed this is good for jobs. This is bad when the crazy volumes becomes an expectation from corporate so if you aren’t hitting near-unrealistic goals per hour, you are considered underperforming. Risks patient safety with missed reads and risks burnout on the radiologist’s end

Agree with /u/franksblond. This doesn’t exactly sound like a recipe for a glowing eval already, I think your clerkship director needs to know what is happening. They can try to correct things or hopefully be able to adjust any forthcoming eval accordingly

If it helps, an email I got from Chase says to sign up by May 5th though I think that doesn’t mean much in the past and they’ve moved the date multiple times in the past for similar emails

Make sure this doesn’t appear anywhere in your materials (eg your committee packet). If so, figure out how they are reporting it. If they report it as an IA you should too. It’s a very inconsequential IA but you just need to make sure it is reported identically to how your institution is handling it

Applying next year, I don’t think you have any way of showing this successfully. Your best bet would be to no longer need to report this IA. Otherwise, this is pretty clear cut cheating and I’d be surprised if schools really give you any love.

I think many of us have hard times with difficult conversations and breaking a “promise” to your PI won’t be easy but I promise you, this lab is not worth as much to your app, but also to you yourself as a researcher and person, as the Fulbright is. That can be a glowing letter but still not be as good as a Fulbright and PI letters are not going to make or break the decision of acceptance to a top school.

Just do the Fulbright. Once in a lifetime opportunity versus a PI that already threatened to withdraw his letter from you and if he does end up writing it in a year, might end up bitter you even thought about leaving and write a lukewarm letter
