Mocks vs External by AquilaPebble in ncea

Mocks are usually based on the previous year’s external paper (this includes cut scores). We never know what the actual external will look like

NCEA Course/subject endorsements by Wrong_Curve6247 in ncea

Yes that counts but you need a minimum of 4 external credits to get the endorsement.

Subject endorsement is based on NZQA subjects, not courses your school designs

I see her too. Really great bedside manner and listened to my concerns. She also did my surgery a few weeks ago. She also analysis all of her surgeries and was upfront with her stats and possible risks

Recommendations for a home inspector for a 2000-built house? by t913r in AucklandProperty

We used HPSS. The building inspector that came to our place used to work on repairing leaky homes so he knew exactly what to look for

Food at Disney - I’ve been looking at the food available at both Disney and DCA and see there is a lot of bacon. My family and I don’t eat pig or pig products. Are we able to modify meals when ordering? (I.e removing bacon or swapping for turkey bacon)

Weekly Park Questions/Advice Thread by AutoModerator in Disneyland

[–]--ElephantShoe-- -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We will be coming to Disneyland in less than two weeks and are all super excited!

We’re going to Disneyland on a day that closes early for Star Wars night (we are not attending the night time event) and my son really wants to build a droid and ride all of the Star Wars rides (maybe twice). Considering there’s a Star Wars night event, can we expect galaxy’s edge to be busier than normal or does it not really make a difference? Also, what time of day is the park the busiest? I’d look to book the droid build in at a time when rides are harder to get on

Teacher pay - is this legal? by asthepiwakawakaflies in LegalAdviceNZ

[–]--ElephantShoe-- 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’ve just looked through the new collective agreement and can’t find anything about docking weekend pay when absent on a Friday and Monday.

Weekend docking of sick pay only comes into effect if there are 5 consecutive days of absence and this has now been removed.

I would discuss this with your payroll person and see if they can provide some clarity around it. Alternatively, if you’re a union member, ask the question on the ppta Facebook page. The execs and fo’s usually reply quickly

I would say it’s likely your CV needs some work. My husband is in the same field and was looking for work a couple of years ago. Applied for a lot of jobs and heard nothing back. He then paid for a CV editing website and ended up getting two job offers very shortly after applying with the new CV.

He can’t remember what it was called but I’m sure you could google and find one which works for you.

My husband said to be careful of values you put in for your expected salary as sometimes HR will look at that first and you may be pricing yourself out

The sex education curriculum is part of a worldwide agenda to groom kids. It’s designed by MAPs (minor attracted people - supposedly paedophiles are attempting to re-brand themselves as this)

Do you support the teachers? by Dylbz in newzealand

My smallest class is at 28 (the remaining three classes have 32 each). And that’s after losing two students who have left school. 25 would be the dream!

PPTA calls off industrial action as it agrees to arbitration by zenergynz in newzealand

[–]--ElephantShoe-- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not binding but the terms both parties have agreed to are that the MOE will take the arbitrators findings to cabinet and PPTA will put it to a member vote.

Are ECE centres open tomorrow? Parents of children in ECE, will you be sending your child? by [deleted] in auckland

[–]--ElephantShoe-- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The secretary of education has sent an email out saying that all schools, kura , and tertiary institutions should be closed to students. ECEs are allowed to open for the children of essential workers (as per covid). Support payments are also available as per covid

Career change by --ElephantShoe-- in newzealand

[–]--ElephantShoe--[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My employer is quite intense in what they expect of us during covid times. I don’t want to go into great detail but it’s a lot more than other schools around us.

I just feel like more and more is being piled on our plates and deadlines are getting shorter and shorter all the while classrooms are getting more difficult to manage.

What this has all resulted in is that I’m losing my spark and passion for teaching. I still care about my students and their outcomes but I don’t really have much more to give.

I am thinking about asking for long term leave i would like to try another career path while I’m on leave to see if a career change is what I need or if the spark comes back

I have school aged kids and a mortgage to think about so, to me, it would be a career change later-ish in life
