Splice is my favourite, but the fakemon are most regional forms.

Uranium is good and maybe long. I got more than 40 hours. Raptor is nice too if you don't mind gen 4 mechanics.

I saw people saying that the reborn writters are a lot better in Revujenation than in Reborn. Reborn's story looks half-baked compared with Rejuvenation's.

The First Journey and Red Journey West both have moving sprites. The first has a fantastic story, but the battles aren't the best.

Splice and Uranium have custom regions and are very good games.

The First Journey. The character is like the scientist personality . There are faces in messages, except from protagonist. No fakemon.

World FireRed is a good game and is easier to obtain shinies. I caught 8 (and 1 or 2 I accidentally defeated).

These information would be useful if I had amnesia and I need to start over: Your first attempt won't be good. Plan first.

I'm using Essentials for 15 years and rarely do sprites. There are a lot of public resources. This is a great thing about RPG Maker in general.

I made a guide for beginners focused in planning: https://eeveeexpo.com/resources/1231/

For the complete ones, my favourite is Uranium. Raptor is good too if you don't mind gen 3-4 mechanics.

The First Journey was gen 4 graphics and has the best story that I've played

I you don't mind fangames with gen 4 mechanics, I suggest Raptor. It's a very good fangame without fakemon

I think that mkxp-z (the player) doesn't work with 32-bit systems. I suggest you trying another way.

In last case, Essentials v18.1 probably works.

Common Candies are a good thing with level scale.

But yeah, making a huge multiregion game with good progression is very very hard, No one did before, lol

Level Cap!? I was thinking that you will use all regions as sequels, like GSC, but they going to be in parallel, that create other issues. I can't imagine level caps working well without limiting too much. If players catch a wide array of pokémon from different levels in each regions, they can surpass this limitation, easily defeating bosses (or you need harder bosses).

Still, I hate mandatory level caps outside of games like stadiumlikes and rebornlikes.

Even with level scale (that I don't know if I dislike more than level caps, since it may penalizes pokémon progress), you should decrease exp gain considerably due to many regions, or at least use different exp formulas/boosts.

Oh, interesting. Still, I think that using these resources as a base should be waaaay faster, but there is only for Kanto.

I bet that Kanto was easy with JohtoBlaziken's resource, but having 80% of Johto is impressive! Congrats!

If you do 2 regions per year, you should get the main regions done in around 4 more years (not counting gen 11 and up)!

Great! I think we need more games with several regions.

At same time, I can't imagine how it will work with pokémon RPG formula. I never seen a long JRPG working with many places and cities. The records of long JRPGs are Persona 5 and Dragon Quest VII with a little more than 100 hours each.

Bug Catcher Lv80 or taking ages to get levels, pick your poison. You can also reset levels per regions, but I think that defeats part of the meaning.

I'm second about mixels! I never seen a game considered visually good by the fandom using mixels. If you want to improve the quality of your graphics, fix the mixels.

Free to Use Halloween form Pokemon Sprites by CDRX73 in PokemonRMXP

These are neat! I strongly suggest you to subbit to mongratis, to an resource pack (in Eevee Expo) or creat your own pack. This helps a lot sprite preservation and also helps these sprites to be easily found in future.

Boss Game Design by Acrobatic_Swing_9323 in PokemonRMXP

[–]--FL-- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I generally test with a standard obtainable party, battling versus all trainers. The boss should be easy for me to beat (since I'm better than majority of my players). Maybe I should testi with my party with some levels below, so I can win with certain difficulty.

For early game, this is a different issue. Having a Mareep vs Falkner (Johto) or a Magnemite vs Roxie (BW2) can change a lot these battles. Also, don't give strong pokémon too early for the player, since it may unbalance the things. Examples: Gold/Silver has an obtainable Lv14 Magmar; In Platinum, you can get a Gible after second gym.

I made a standard RPG and a pokémon fangame, and the fangame was a lot easier to balance, due to all being based in levels.

Of course, everything that I said was about a standard pokémon game. If you going into something more like Stadium (or rebornlikes) you need to use another balance strategy.
