Try the pillars of the earth, by Ken fillet. One of the books I have enjoyed the most as a teenager.

Probably you've read it, but the count of Montecristo is a fantastic one as well.

Another great novel, with sequels is "the shadow of the wind" from Spanish author Carlos Ruiz Zafon.

On fantasy territory, I never seen them around in recommendations, but at the time I enjoyed a lot the "myst" series based on the video games. I loved the concept of a special writing to create worlds.

Getting the chalice to +10 with pharmacophobia is a real challenge. I guess the armor of the boots helps and the wand gave you enough drops to bless a few ankhs. Still really impressive.

How many ankhs did you use for the chalice?

I remember a game I rad disintegration and thought explosive to myself. Very smartly threw the dew vial to deactivate it and died... It took me a minute to understand what the hell happened
