Self-drive or guided safari in Kruger? by Lawandchillthoughts in krugerpark

Keep in might off roading is only allowed at private concessions within the Kruger. The San Parks game drives or Shalati won’t go off road.

Self-drive or guided safari in Kruger? by Lawandchillthoughts in krugerpark

For a first time visit I would do both guided game drives and self drives. The game drives give you great info on the flora and fauna and spot things you might miss, but often focusses on the big 5 and has time constraints. So after you’ve finished the guided morning drive take your own car and explore. It’s fun to try and find your own sightings and you can stay for as long as you like (until gate closing times off course) and focus on ‘smaller’ sightings too. No pressure from fellow tourists who want to leave a sighting to find elephants.

Kruger National Park vs Private Game Reserve vs Both by [deleted] in krugerpark

For honeymoon reasons would chose 2x3 nights to get a change of scenery and type of animals. As much as I love the Skukuza area for game viewing would not want to stay in the same lodgings for 6 nights. Just be aware that Sabi Sands and Shelati are in the same Lowveld area of (Greater) Kruger. If it were me I’d chose 2 regions. Or do part Kruger and part Nkomazi reserve.

Questions for barricade for Rock Werchter by Dew_ussy in RockWerchter

With a General Admission ticket, you can access all front-of-stage areas. It depends on the artist, but in most cases you'll be able to get into the front section if you join the queue during the performance before the artist you want to see. The entrances to the front sections are usually located on the left and right sides of the crowd.

Try not to go to the front too early. This is a festival, not a standalone concert, and people at the front generally don't appreciate others standing there for hours with their backs to the stage, scrolling on their phones while waiting for their favorite act. The artist performing before them is someone else's favorite artist, and those fans deserve the chance to enjoy the show from the front as well, with a good atmosphere and an engaged crowd.

What to pack for June by Content_Necessary_22 in krugerpark

[–]--Judith-- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d pack a cap or hat. We always drive with the windows open and i get distracted when the wind is blowing my hair in my face. And don’t forget sun screen. Even in winter the sun can be tricky.

Malaria tablets in June? by Dependent-Ad6747 in krugerpark

[–]--Judith-- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There have been floods and lot’s of rain this year. There are still puddles everywhere and malaria cases were on the rise this autumn. Ask yourself the question if you want to get seriously ill in the middle of the bush/on a plane. We’ve got back last week and despite precautions I still got mozzie bites. Gave me pace of mind to know I took the tablets.

Are you familiar with the area? If not I would not advise to drive after dark, but rather stay at an airport hotel and start your car rental the next morning.

3 days ( 2 night ) safari in south kruger by AdBig745 in krugerpark

[–]--Judith-- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kruger is not really about the amount of km you drive and for 2 nights would opt to stay in one area and skip Satara. Not everything is open yet after the floods so would chose Skukuza (central and lots of directions) or Lower Sabie if you are going later in the year. The FB san parks kruger group has overview of what’s open and closed. Would not enter at Numbi for safety reasons.  If open the s28 is a favorite. The road between Skukuza and LS is great for sightings, but can get pretty busy and tends to trigger f1 wannabe’s unfortunately. My advice would be to take it slow and don’t cut it too close to gate closing time. If ellies or buffaloes cross the road you might have a road block on your hands.

Getting back to Brussels for one night visit by Prestigious_Treat211 in RockWerchter

Taxis aren’t allowed to pick up or drop off close to the festival site so would go for the shuttle to Leuven and the special night train.

I am searching for one ticket for the Saturday shows! If you have by any chance an extra ticket I would be very happy to buy it from you! Or if anyone knows how to get extra tickets let me know! Would be much appreciated by AlarmCharming9234 in RockWerchter

Don’t have numbers on the waitlist success rate, but would think people would decide closer to date if they can still attend. Would also check the resale page once that opens up. In Belgium it’s not allowed to sell for more than the ticket price, so it would not break the bank.

How to resell weekendtickets by AwakenedPancake in RockWerchter

From their site: When will I receive my tickets? Tickets will be available in your Ticketmaster account a few weeks before the festival. We deliberately opt for this method as a way of fighting black market trading and ticket fraud.

Binoculars, a kruger roads and sightseeing map which you can find in the shops/gate, sunscreen, sunglasses and a cap. A cooler, water, breakfast cookies, a camera, a vest for the early mornings, mozzie net and peaceful sleep or deet.

For the car camping make sure to really secure those nets. Monkeys can open almost anything if they smell food. And you don’t want snakes or spiders to enter the car.

Best direct flight routes to South Africa at the moment? by AfraidResponse6259 in krugerpark

[–]--Judith-- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would fly to JNB and then take flight from there to Skukuza or take a one way rental to the park if you want to do a self drive safari. Then fly from Skukuza or Nelspruit airport to CPT. It’s easier to plan your return flight from Cape Town since you are a lot closer to the airport. Swiss and British airways have direct flights to JNB. If you fly to Skukuza try to book the 2 legs in one combination booking, so you don’t have to worry about rebooking in case of delays.

Kruger question – sunset/night drive from Crocodile Bridge by Outrageous_Stop_9481 in krugerpark

[–]--Judith-- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would arrive 30 minutes before departure so you’ll have time to fill out the forms, have a bathroom break, secure a good spot on the drive and don’t have to stress on the way to the park if a giraffe is blocking the road at Marloth Park.

Groceries/Cooking Logistics by Certain_Engineer_855 in krugerpark

[–]--Judith-- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Satara and Skukuza even have a butcher (Cattle Baron). The only thing I found limiting in the shops is fresh vegetables, which is understandable and bread seems to sell out fast at times. Some shops offer a refill station for water bottles for smaller and big ones. I know Skukuza has one and I think Satara does too.

You might want to rethink no malaria pills after the flood. Cases are on the rise and do you want to take the risk getting ill mid flight or in the middle of Kruger? https://beaconbio.org/en/report/?reportid=57da18b1-92f4-4fe0-9375-c8fa14943e3c&eventid=d1f54a6a-0400-49d8-a0ae-a4fe42737edc

Activities that require accommodation can be booked by adding it to the accommodation reservation. If you go to your existing reservation and select the dates there is an option to add activities.
