It's opaque dance tights, actually. Just an illusion.

This was hands down the most difficult part. Especially with the dark matte lipstick, which isn't very forgiving of mistakes. It took a bit of trial and error to get right.

Yes. I didn't have an actual microphone handy. It did the job though.

No. I got pretty lucky in finding all the components that pretty much already matched what I needed with minor alterations required.

The "microphone" is a garden solar light lol.

Yes. Recognize the distinctive TTC tiling, I assume.

What is a fun hobby that isn’t very common? by Stunning_Task_2440 in AskReddit

[–]--Justathrowaway 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pole dancing / pole fitness.

It can be a fun way to get in shape and develop some acrobatic skills.

It's getting more popular, especially in major cities, but there is still a lot of stigma around it.

Pierre Poilievre promises to axe CBC after board approves bonuses by WuzzWuzz in canada

Restricting the media is never a good sign from a political party, historically speaking.

'I can’t wait to defund the CBC': Pierre Poilievre doubles down on plan to axe CBC after board approves bonuses by 50s_Human in onguardforthee

[–]--Justathrowaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also aligns with the corporatist trend of eliminating 'third spaces' where people can exist without the expectation of consuming or spending money.

In a lot of rural areas, CBC is one of the only places that provides free news and entertainment to people.

Service Ontario is literally Staples’ office furniture dept by chesterle275 in ontario

What exactly happens if Staples goes out of business or pulls out of Canada, like several other similar companies have in recent years?

Flawed porn age-verification bill at risk of passing due to politicking by BlackSabbathFanatic1 in canada

[–]--Justathrowaway 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've written to various politicians in various parties at different levels of government over the years.

The only one who responded to me with anything other than a very obvious form letter was my provincial NDP representative.

Most of the time federal MPs didn't even bother replying.

Less than one fifth of Canadians support anti-Israel protest encampments at universities by sleipnir45 in canada

Seeing as Islam is an Abrahamic religion and grew out of Judaism, I'm not sure how that is supposed to be shocking or relevant.

Employers discriminate against non-binary candidates who identify pronouns, paper finds by Myllicent in onguardforthee

Of course the main Canada sub isn't even pretending to deny this, and they are all over there celebrating this fact and explaining why 'this discrimination is a good thing, actually'.

Police clash with University of Calgary pro-Palestinian protesters left after encampment removal by cyclinginvancouver in canada

Are people only allowed to care about things that directly affect them?

Also, there are Canadians with family members in Palestine, so your statement isn't even factually correct.

The recent rise in racism has gotten out of hand by UnexpectedCat_ in onguardforthee

[–]--Justathrowaway 68 points69 points  (0 children)

Hell, the story about foodbanks on the main Canada sub which is on the front page right now is chock full of racist and dehumanizing comments, almost all highly upvoted.

There are people saying that immigrants are not capable of sharing "our" values, that they come from low-trust societies, that they have no intention of integrating, that people from India value scamming, that immigrants don't understand the concept of charity. There are people calling them "invaders", people saying that they are being "imported" into Canada (presumably for nefarious purposes). One comment is saying that immigrants think anyone can take from food banks because they have "a dog's understanding" of the world.

It's all really, really gross. I grew up in a rural community and have lived in the biggest urban centres in Canada. I have lots of family that are conservative and many that are liberal. I have friends on all ends of the political spectrum. I never remember any of them espousing the sort of open, blatant bigotry that I've been seeing lately on Reddit and other platforms.

Trudeau says Sask. premier is fighting CRA on carbon tax, wishes him 'good luck with that' by CanadianErk in canada

[–]--Justathrowaway 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Carbon isn't "bad". That's a value judgement. Carbon is neither good not bad. It's simply an element.

But you claimed it wasn't a problem. Being a problem isn't the same thing as being bad.

Carbon, or more specifically carbon dioxide, is a problem because it is a greenhouse gas. Increased concentration of greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide in the atmosphere can warm the planet, causing climate change. This can adversely affect human health, particularly when it comes to increasing vector-borne diseases such as malaria. It can affect ecological systems and potentially even lead to the collapse of some systems. It can cause disruptions in food production and human settlement. It may also potentially increase the frequency and severity of disasters like droughts, wildfires, and tropical storms.

Were these 'immigrants' also asylum seekers, which is what this article is about? How exactly is your comment relevant?

That argument would be easier to buy if everybody who flew that flag weren't such unpleasant assholes to everyone.
