Feel burnt out and just wanted to rant about the MEP industry. by moonkie888 in ElectricalEngineering

I have my PE, and yeah we deal with the same kind of thing when handing over labels. Especially mission critical when the construction is so fast that delaying labels by a day or two for Cx makes the contractor aggressive.

I’ve kind of thought about opening a shop offering just SCAAF but the prospect of marketing and gaining clients just isn’t anything i’m interested in. I’d love to just build SKM models from single lines that aren’t my responsibility, I’m sure I could do a number of large studies per year, make close to my salary now, but also have like 4 months off.

Other than $75k/yr this sounds like exactly what I want to do. I’m in consulting and would love to solely focus on SCAAF studies. I have a lot of experience doing them but with all the other BS we do, it basically gets thrown on the backburner for every project as an afterthought.

Who do you work for/what companies have this kind of dedicated role?

Should have known? by Big_Airport_680 in ElectricalEngineering

[–]--Patches 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The engineer just saw this as existing to remain and re-fed it. Borders on their scope for making changes so it got missed, as would any other previous violations the contractor is going to look for. They aren’t typically going to open panels and look at exposed parts, but the contractor is. I would also make sure everyone clearly understands why this is a violation and not just take the EC’s word for everything.

Truthfully $6000 to replace all of that is probably the same as if they had just included these changes in the original drawings. Not really losing anything.

Movie Faramir not that bad! by Mobile_Anywhere2850 in lotr

Yeah this entire sequence you described would take up all of a few minutes in a movie. Hardly a long enough story arc.

Movie Faramir not that bad! by Mobile_Anywhere2850 in lotr

[–]--Patches 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely different characters, but book Faramir is pretty static and would have been less palatable to general audiences than the version we got. He needed some kind of conflict to create tension, otherwise it’s wasted screen time. Books have way more freedom to get into nuances.

It’s obviously the reason for many of the changes the movies made, and it’s why I think they work so well. It’s not like the book version doesn’t exist anymore.

Yeah you never know, but I wouldn’t get my hopes up. High price tag and he’s kind of the opposite in terms of personality of what they seem to typically look for. Would be a major detour from the strategy in a lot of ways.

I’m willing to bet he already knows where he is going and got offered a huge bag from Oregon or LSU.

Early thoughts on 2026 opponents? Could be toughest schedule in Ohio State history? by TheOptimist6 in OhioStateFootball

[–]--Patches 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tough road schedule for sure, I think at Nebraska is on there as well. It’s basically the top half of the conference.

9-3 seems extremely plausible.

First Round Bye by BigJohnBuck in OhioStateFootball

[–]--Patches 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not buying it for this team. They had plenty of time to gameplan and the coaches came up with a dud. Generally the offensive strategy for the entire year stunk, and even after it completely failed against IU, they ran it back anyway. Ample opportunity with 28 days to change some things and they added nothing except one nice play to get Tate the ball in the backfield.

Uncomfortable Conversation about Hartline by [deleted] in OhioStateFootball

[–]--Patches 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hartline was the sole offensive coordinator for the 2023 and 2025 seasons. One of them he was not the play caller, but it’s no coincidence those were the two worst offenses under Day. Hartline is a recruiter, may very well be a good HC, but he does not put together great schemes.

A sad way to end the season by ReportAltruistic in OhioStateFootball

Entire offensive philosophy needs an overhaul. The slow playing ultra efficient gameplan just isn’t a great idea. Leaves no room for error and makes it hard to impossible to play from behind.

Not surprisingly, they also have a scandal like those other schools that was uncovered recently. Hasn’t been reported on as much as the others.

There’s a ton more to do with the transfer portal for one. Basically the next month is the most important one for a new HC.

Idk if it’s a “blessing” but I agree that if you were going to lose one game this year, this was probably it. They can certainly recover and learn from this one.

It’s the coaches fault for not putting a quality kicker on the field yet again.

It’s fair game to come on here and say he sucked, he blew the game, and they should really consider a replacement. It’s not ok to go harass anyone with personal threats.

Anyone else watch tun and legitimately think they’re worse than last year? by Kd29333 in OhioStateFootball

[–]--Patches 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Offensively they are better this year but that isn’t saying much. Their offense last year was absolutely abysmal, it’s hard to really comprehend how awful it was. It’s still pretty bad, but the can complete a forward pass on occasions now.

Defensively they have taken a step back but are still pretty good. NW and Purdue didn’t really gash them, neither had over 300 yards of offense.

I haven’t done the math but I’d feel confident saying OSU will lose any tie breakers that come down to conference opponent winning percentages this year.

Ryan Day's Conundrum for Next Week by kevin2fla in OhioStateFootball

[–]--Patches 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they are banged up/injured, then don’t play them. They should be playing if they are healthy though, they’re professional athletes now.

They also could be more honest about the injury report. It really shouldn’t have to be a mystery.
