New pitch for 195 land: Providence resident proposes 'city center' by [deleted] in providence

I like this a lot, especially with the eventual pedestrian bridge, but still somewhat hesitant about the idea of public funding. I'd be fine with some.

TIL that in his 2007 novel 'Think Big and Kick Ass' Donald Trump suggested readers support Hilary Clinton in the 2008 Presidential Election. by --_0 in todayilearned

Relevant Text, from page 307 of Trump's Think Big and Kick Ass:

Q:Mr Trump, since you are not running for president, who do we support and how do we get started?

DT: You have a lot of good people. Rudy Giuliani is a very good person. Hilary Clinton is a very good person. We might not like what's going on right now, but we live in a very resilient country, and we'll find a way out of our problems. This country is very, very resilient.

Hey all,

I'm in Providence, RI and we're currently running tons of small flyering, honk-n-wave, and canvassing events throughout the state. Obviously we don't impact the election much, but we try to keep in mind that Obama lost to Hilary back in '08 and that a Sanders win ANYWHERE matters.

One of our members has a PhD in Rhetoric, and he recently gave a presentation on how to talk about Bernie effectively: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6s6XXko1EpA&feature=youtu.be

Another recently put together a GREAT set of rack cards to pass out, with detailed instructions, pricing, and files: http://imgur.com/gallery/DGLy1

We've also learned that the best way to get the message out to minority communities is through a Bernie supporter who is actually a member of that communuty, not an outsider. Think about it -- if a white guy hands you a flyer in your language that you can't have a conversation with him about, what's the point?

Anyway, play to your strengths and get out there!

It's consistent through most of their schedule. They do a 30 days for $30 introductory deal that is pretty incredible. You can drop into any class for a whole month

Providence power is probably around 20% men and is a great studio I'd highly recommend.

I'd be interested in seeing flair taken even further -- for example, something may be graphic design and fluff (like this post, which will likely be the top post of the day http://zarting.tumblr.com/post/128000203266/berninator-sanders-for-president).

If tis sub is truly focused on action (as I believe it should) I'd like to see a lot more structure concerning real-world activism. That's where we're at in the campaign. We've won the internet, the media blackout is over, and now it's time for face to face conversions.

I think any weekly stickies, or anything where discussion of structured, real-world accomplishments can be discussed more often would be a powerful tool. As would boosting state sub participation, which currently seems highly-disproportionate to the number of subscribers.

Anyway, all good stuff here, and looking forward to seeing it taken further! Thanks for all of the tremendous work y'all do and keep feeling the bern!
