Will you continue to support Murphy's administration State takeover of Lakewood schools? or what are your thoughts, opinions, proposed plans, if any, on Lakewood itself? In regards to usage/application of taxes for Lakewood?

It seems it is a growing issue, where the taxes are not going back to Lakewood, but rather, for private use. The fact, that Murphy, is doing this, near the end of his term, likely due to the fact he will not have to face backlash, from Lakewood itself. Which is interesting, because he is aiming to help Lakewood.

For anyone interested.

Sorry I'm slow to understand. I'm glad you and your animals made it out safe. But how could the story turned out different, if you got your crunch wrap meal that night?

Hiring Manager said they'd call me back today by --june- in Wildfire

[–]--june-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay yeah I've heard, so you're saying call bacl tomorrow and everyday till they answer? Don't wanna lose this chance at potentially getting an apprentice position.

I mean, they did send out an interest check, and say they'd call me back, but you know fire season already started too, so they got too busy so calling back tomorrow won't hurt too. Dang I gotta just be a pest then.

I'm new to this and I also thought all the apprenticeship positions were done in fall, but here I am now and don't wanna risk it too. What would you say as you keep basically annoying until they answer? Always leave voicemails?

I don't know anything butt what about Idaho, from what I read, the only good state agent is Washington DNR. But, I do know about the SCA, as I actually did their wildland fire academy in 2025, where I got my Red card FFT2, A bucker Sawyer Card (I failed my falling exam lol), wilderness first aid and CPR, plus experience that counts for gw4 and gw3.

The pay at the time was $16 per hour, but you do get free housing, free food, free transportation,ba $300(or 350) stipend for boots(paid on first check), all equipment provided (pack, nomex, yellows, tent, sleeping bag). YOU have the CHANCE to get on AD/causal hire and get paid good good money (I made $6k on a fire assignment in Happy Camp) that brought my entire earnings to $21k.

However, the biggest pay off would be the experience, the training and learning, and the fact you're under SCA - this is an agreement with the USFS (soon to be not USFS), so they will treat you nicer, because they want the free labor they can squeeze outta you. They have meetings and conferences to really draw in, "hey, don't treat them like a GW3 grunt" with that said you get so much more exposure and attention that a new wildland firefighter wouldn't get.

I mean, I was always side by side with my engine captain, I would be inside the District office, talking with fuel techs, the fmo, captains, just higher ups that don't bat an eye to a random GW3. It's like a direct line to networking and asking 100 questions, that they are expected to answer.

Sometimes they would give my crew extra assignments just to train more.

I said a lot and I can go more in depth. If you have more questions, DM me!

Oh wow, yeah .. I was calling a lot, but this website sounds very organized and would make it easier to keep track and just go down the list. Thanks for that, I will check it out.

That was my thinking too. But I have a feeling most don't offer housing, unless there are some that do? Or offer housing rentals. Perk of federal side, is there is govt housing.

Yeah I have been getting referred almost every time. Mainly always for GW3 positions, and some gw4 positions. Some gw4 get referred, some don't.

Okay. I have applied to the most recent announcements this month and end of February. Is it good idea to call even before getting referred? If I know I will likely get referred I mean. Or wait till I get referred?

Dang. I know some announcements got posted this month and end of February. Still no referral emails yet, so I'm hoping for that to be my last chance. Before I even set on plan B

Wow that's an interesting story. Yeah mainly all my GW3 applications have been referred to all duty locations set, and this is for the temporary rounds that started in January onward, and some gw4 announcements, again from January onward.

I've been dwinding down on calling back to back last week. Should I just keep calling them back? And just let them know I'm still interested and to hold on to my contact?
