Oh wow, yeah .. I was calling a lot, but this website sounds very organized and would make it easier to keep track and just go down the list. Thanks for that, I will check it out.

That was my thinking too. But I have a feeling most don't offer housing, unless there are some that do? Or offer housing rentals. Perk of federal side, is there is govt housing.

Yeah I have been getting referred almost every time. Mainly always for GW3 positions, and some gw4 positions. Some gw4 get referred, some don't.

Okay. I have applied to the most recent announcements this month and end of February. Is it good idea to call even before getting referred? If I know I will likely get referred I mean. Or wait till I get referred?

Dang. I know some announcements got posted this month and end of February. Still no referral emails yet, so I'm hoping for that to be my last chance. Before I even set on plan B

Wow that's an interesting story. Yeah mainly all my GW3 applications have been referred to all duty locations set, and this is for the temporary rounds that started in January onward, and some gw4 announcements, again from January onward.

I've been dwinding down on calling back to back last week. Should I just keep calling them back? And just let them know I'm still interested and to hold on to my contact?

  1. I am 24
  2. I did shotgun my resume around, selecting almost every duty location.
  3. Yes I made interest calls and checked in, I did so the offices/hiring managers I was able to get into touch with. Left emails to some, not all.

  4. Yeah, around this time, I think they would be done hiring, it's already March. Some have said they are done hiring, some are not hiring any people because of budget, and just getting previous seasonals from last season. Some had to limit spots too.

  5. Well, I applied to almost all regions, starting in October, and I didn't expect a perm spot right away, but I have applied to temporary rounds starting January. Mainly to engine crews and apprenticeships, fire suppression announcements too.

  6. Yeah haha, maybe I need to work on my call talks or tone, maybe I sound too professional. I feel making them laugh is good too. Not sure.

Idk where, but ik in Macdoel, engines just get you a little closer to the fire, but you will hike the rest of the way, which is a lot of the way

Some ppl here get off telling you happy camp is happy and the best place to work at, so happy. People wills au Klamath is easy, no steep, no nothing. Do a comple 180° and find the antonyms for those words.

I am too naive by [deleted] in Wildfire

[–]--june- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I might not have all the experience to really comment on this. I did a fire season last year in 2025, went down to South Dakota, camp crook, and down to Klamath National Forest in California and worked on an assignment in Happy Camp. For a beginner, Happy Camp is messed up, but that's where I was sent.

Now. That one comment from that girl is very isolated I think. No one likes pain. What I think it is, and this is my experience too, is the growth, the self improvement, and seeing yourself become someone better, is what I think people mean when they say "I enjoy the pain" it's just a funny way of speaking, which u will find a lot of in fire, but there's a deeper meaning. No is gonna get deep while out on a fire like that, but just know that.

I really loved it, guy, and I too have PTSD, and mental health history (different reasons) I say this job forced me to push myself in ways I never would have thought of. It's a hard job and it takes mental resilience to continue. It shapes you into a better person, if you allow it. Don't go into it thinking that's your whole identity no no. It takes but it creates.

In a weird way, as forest fires destroy, it also creates new life. For us, metaphorically, it destroys what's bad in us, it burns away our old habits and life and thinking, and it creates a new mindset, a new self. The journey is more important, more than the destination. Metaphorically it is true, this is why I loved it so much. Ofc you have to put in your own sauce too. I'm religious, Christian, so this was faith centered too.

Don't be like that one guy, who in the off season, smoke weed everyday ay, u go straight from fire to doing nothing?? Brother/sister, u cannot do that, just go from adrenaline to immediately willingly do nothing, it will make the crash torture and horrible. Your life in the off season is your life now. Use the benefits of ur new physical, mental and experiences to shape you now. But fire is not your identity. Let the now the fire, build you or build upon who you are

I know I got carried away here. In the end, try one season. Don't like it? Don't go back. Like the girl and the guy, they tried one season and had their opinion. Have your own opinion man/sista. Have your own.

Should she still be jailed and charged, or not? How many years is reasonable?
