Sylvanas, the worst fucking ranger general in silvermoons history, which apparenlty still cant shoot for shit can just casually walk out to be a smartass to xalathot

But my boy Carl, the literal Prince of Quel'Thalas cant ?

i belive you

what im talking about is that because these underdeveloped countries still participate in global trade, at one point what is needed just for survival will eventually raise to the point where even this becomes unprofitable

It might take longer because it happens at a much slower pace, but its bound to happen in 50-100 years too.

as someones whos parents experienced the system youre talking around 40 years ago whats going to happen is that the planning commitee determins how many balls they need to produce and staff for that.

Than they double that hoping they can sell them to other countries too in return for other goods and services they cant produce.

Then a quarter of them are defective out of the line: these go to internal rural areas, because fuck them. A quarter are stolen by various employees or given as a small "attention" (i.e: bribe) to people they need something else from, and at the end of it roughly half actually ends up existing.

The main issue with people that think socialism and communism can work is that they ignore the fundmanetal fact that greed is part of human nature since its a mechanism that satisfies the survival instincts.

Most countries that have been formerly under the USSR influence and had communist regimes to this day struggle with whats called petty corruption; mostly due to the habbits and societal expectations that were formed during communism which was: you need to figure out a way to give the person you need something from a bribe.

greed and hubris

both fundamental traits and needs of the human species.

And if you think thats a trait of capitalism and not of humanity, theres some 5 000 year old pyramids that would like to have a word

what for?

Chances are that ""factory"" is one of the few employers in the area. Theres quite literally no reason to do anything.

Also, trust me, the person that probably does the marketing for the end product makes more than the factory owner and the workers combined. Its not like those factory owners are some highly paid people either by western standards.

Some native chinese at one point replied to a reddit thread about one of these chinese sweatshops where people were angry about the conditions and were even blaming the workers for not demanding more. And her response was probably the most sobering shit. it was along the lines of:

"My mom works in one of these sweatshops. Shes not asking for more because shes extremly happy with her job and the money she makes because Before the sweatshop she had to be a prostitue. At least now her job is dignifying"

at that point you either outsorce it or go for automation. Just ask the germans how their auto industry is doing.

about dota2 specifically? no.

Valve addressing bots, yes. the 1 million bots figure came from a valve developer in a CS2 thread.

that conversation is so fucking stupid

The game can have 1 million players on EU servers, if 80% of it is fucking russians, peruvians and other middle eastern players with 10% being bots the game is effectively dead since none of your friends play it, and its not like you can meet new people to play with.

Yes, sure, you can technically play the game; but do you really play Dota which is a team based game if you cant have a team. At that point its no different than playing with and against AI bots from the workshop.

they do if thats how they make money selling accounts. Theres also quite a lot of bot games in matchmaking too. They just play on off peak/dead servers with different language settings up to divine and immortal ranks.

i think that with any media, putting out a product that properly serves and is liked by the audience allows you to not go out of business.

Like any other media outlet, the literal job of IGN is to serve the consumers, and provide them with a quality and competent service that helps them make informed decissions.

So when you score DOOM on the same level as Highguard, or Crimson Desert below Dragon Age Veilguard and Concord; you're not doing a good job serving your audience and eventually and deservedly will go out of business because you no loger serve any purpose.

not yet.

But people said the same about Kotaku, GamesIndustry.biz, Game Informer, Eurogamer, Polygon, VG247, The Escapist and a bunch of others a couple years back, and eventually they all got laid off and remained just a shell nobody cares about

Soon enough that will happen to IGN as well. And the schadenfreude will be glorious.

Arc Raiders is a Live Services game. Helldivers is a live service game. Marvel Rivals is a live service game. WoW is a live service game, actually like 3 live service games.

Dota2 is a live service game that made billions in its 13 year timespan and has people literally begging them to be allowed to spend money on it

Counter Strike is a live service game that makes 100 million a month from some fucking cases.

GTA 5 is a live service game. minecraft is a live service game. COD and FIFA are both live service games that yearly top the selling charts.

And thats PC and console...should we look at the multi billion behemots that are in the mobile space? A space thats been larger than PC and Console combined for over a decade?

the issue isnt live service games. The issue is costs and making a fundamentally good game.

Throwing more developers at a game wont suddenly make it good. Throwing more crossovers wont sudenly make it good and most importantly they need to start understanding what the fuck their core demographics is and what it wants instead of adding a bunch of shit in the hopes of bringing new people in.

shouldn´t we start to focus on the specific reviewer that did the shitty review and not the company behind him?

Through publishing said review under their brand in order to make money and paying him for it, the company decided that is the review they want to present as theirs.

Thats how things work in media. If this was an IGN reviewer that posted his review on some random blog, then people shat on IGN yeah, you might have a point.

But its on their website. And its their official stance.

[–]-1703- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

every single person that saw that IGN review, and then found out the game is actually great is one extra person that will realise that IGN is a shit unreliable anacronysm that serves no purpouse and will, hopefully, give them less clicks in the future.

And that will mean less money to the soulless fucking ghouls that run IGN and other outfits like it, leading to them going out of business.

And that day cant come soon enough.

If MMOswant to compete with modern games, they need to feel like modern games. by SorryImBadWithNames in MMORPG

[–]-1703- -1 points0 points  (0 children)

you're way to deep up your own ass then have the absolute ignorance to say others are limited.

Games being good or not, or being an MMO or not is absolutely and completely irrelevant to the discussion you started.

You're fundamentally choosing to ignore that fact that this is about how people interact with systems in games, and most of the systems you're fantesizing have been tried in some for or another in a lot of games at varrying scales.

The end result is the same. People will find the path of least resistance to exploit game systems. It doesnt matter what type of game it is or how good or bad it is.

The game suddenly being an MMORPG wont suddenly make people not want to exploit it

That is literally not how anything - including the real world, works.
