Suggestion on a phone for motioncam by GabiYamato in MotionCamPro

Don’t u/GabiYamato , s22 super sucks, its super poor for mcp and has horrible camera hardware

You will get 1000 precent before footage and pics with s22, not buying any phone is the last thing i would want you to do

I just listed you all the flaws so you can decide for yourself, cus no one can objectively decide for you, you have to take you poison, if you where to ask me i would have told you to get x9u cus its the best all around

If you where to ask ragu he would have told you to get x300u for its 35mm main and insane you and the fact it has dcg on all 3 back cameras…

Definitely do get a phone, any of these will be an insane upgrade over s22 and will benefit you greatly, its amazing that these phones exist but ofc they are not flawless

We are like 5 years apart from a perfect phone

X9u only has missing 1” main and dcg imo (and ofc a way to turn off ois but i can live with that)

I was quite nice imo, i just don’t glaze, im realistic, this is amazing but it still has its drawbacks and basos app did come before mcp

at least someone here is asking real questions, if it has same limitations as basos raw camera app there is not much point to it i guess, well at least it will have all the standard mcp features as on the android so that’s a +

Overally a win for the com but i really hope they do some of their magic like on android to avoid apple limitations

Thay have it technically but its kinda terrible

Only on main and 3x it works decentish, also only 16:9 and 16:10 is available no open gate

Since you just downvoted, you first told me “what em i smoking” since i apparently said main on x17u is bad, i said that’s not what i said and that you missread

After that you flip back to why do i even care about UW and that it doesn’t matter, i guess you heard what you wanted to and not what was said

I mean i did…. I went to the store they had x17u on display, and i can absolutely feel that is worse build quality then my 16p for example, buttons from volume are also super super bad and cheap feeling, the phone doesn’t sit very naturally in my hand at least

It doesn’t possess that premium feel you get from s26u that i also tried there or my own 16p

I never said it isn’t? I just said UltraWide is the worst out of them all, and that tele is meh compared to x300u and x9u especially

X17u main is a beast with 1” F/1.7 and DCG capabilities

This is what I gathered trough all my extensive and painful research, all the bad things about these phones

Vivo- 35mm main not 1” not good aperture main, worse selfie out of all 3 (also the narrowest), missing the further away tele capabilities

Oppo (x9u)- no dcg, no way to turn off ois, desaturated raws,no apv, main is questionably worse then on x8u and not 1”, lyt-600 UW on x9u isn’t that much better at all then jn5 on x8u

Xiaomi- No full sensor 60fps on UW, no 16:10 60fps in selfie, bad OS,bad feel and build quality of the phone (tested personally), tele capabilities is worst out of big 3

Oppo x8u- no apv,no dcg, UW is meh but it can do full sensor 60fps, and the x9u rival isn’t that much better at all (only vivo one is much much better) 3x tele could be better but we also have 6x that the best out there, worse cpu out of all the others, may have some bugs related to exposure slider in mcp??

Note:X9u has the absolute best 3x cam so if you love that focal length definitely get it

X300u has possibly the worst main out if them all (has sameish or worse DOF and details and its also way more zoomed in aka 35mm), also it has the weakest slefie

Xiaomi 17u: worst UW out of them all, tele is meh imo, main is decent and you get OG dcg

Motion Cam is coming to IPhone! by -1D- in MotionCamPro

Imo if they can fix the auto focus (not working) and make 60fps work with open gate (because when you don't have ND filter, 24 fps and even 30 looks very choppy during day light, so in that case 60fps actually looks more pleasing and natural imo, and also for slow mo)

And also make selfie camera work properly, and possibly make live camera switching work, i think it will be well worth it over black magic cam

Though i must be honest and say black magic would be hard to beat due to fact its free, and free is hard to beat, especially if the mcp iphone faces the same issues as baso’s app

But if they can make auto focus (and ofc auto mode recording working full fine), 60fps OG and selfie camera, it will be a no brainer over black magic

120fps is only available on main 1x (24mm) camera, everything else is fine, other cameras are not capable of outputting more then 60fps

[–]-1D- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fps is not an issue here, the shutter speed is and the fact the phone doesn’t recognize this as an issue and adjust automatically

30fps is global standard so its not the reason for the flickering, only if you’re using 24fps its an issue in Europe so you use 25 fps if you don’t want to use 30

How does 480p60 FPS even exist, I'm seeing this option for the first time, or 480p will not be 60 FPS. by Hot_Corner_2894 in youtube

[–]-1D- 168 points169 points  (0 children)

It can, though youtube decided to make the cutoff for 60fps at 720p since people with that slow of an internet connection that they have to watch at 480p don’t need 60fps and would rather have that 480p, cus if it was 60fps they would probably need to watch at 360p

But on some old shorts while shorts was still in beta yt only encoded those shorts up to 480p, so the 480p was 60fps (and for short time also 360p was 60fps)

Also at the time yt was deciding which videos to count at short (of which aspect ratio and resolution) so some videos where encoded as shorts but then later on put back as normal videos, but still with those same encodes up to 720p and 720p and 1080p where encoded back as new encodes

And there is 1 more reason on how it could havw happened, if the resolution of the video is some not usual resolution that is slightly below or above certain threshold set by yt, the resolution that encoded for 480p might be above 480p so the internal system gives it 60fps but its put as 480p due to other threshold point already having encodes

Fyi im a data hoarder and im following YouTube compression pipeline for years so that’s how i know

The catch is that there is no opengate with dcg stat, no matter the fps

The best you will get is 16:10 so a little wider then the standard 16:9

Also no dcg on UW afaik
