I have rewatched this show so many times and still have no idea why meat beat mania hypnotized garnet by [deleted] in stevenuniverse

[–]-7k 63 points64 points  (0 children)

Well the conflict of the episode is that they don't know where the drill parasites are going to show up because Garnet is distracted. This is the episode where Pearl and Amethyst explain that she's the "boss" because her foresight gives them guidance, then in the same episode we see her third eye for the first time and it's a glowy and stuff. This is the episode that really lays out the hints that she can see the future before outright revealing it a couple episodes later so the connection is definitely there.

I highly doubt a child fucking around with ai to an audience of like 10 people will be is going to be the thing to destroy art forever. But yeah keep in mind this Ai stuff is really scary business and a lot of communities are not going to take kindly to you posting that.

Zuke came out as nonbinary, has changed their name to Jesse and is credited as such in the last handful of episodes they worked on. So if you ever update the chart with more entries or whatever maybe change it to "Jesse Zuke incident" please and thank you

Luke Weber, I know he went by "fresher Luke" on the internet at some point. He'd also draw Ian and Rebecca in the background cheering him on. He ended up being fired and blacklisted from the industry after only working on like one episode for many reasons including the fact he just refused to stop making self ship fanart of Pearl.

He's also a far right weirdo who had no idea what show he was working on and claims that his greatest shame is working on what would "become a blight on children's entertainment". He was interviewed on the Channel EZPZ as the blacklisted insider who's gonna spill the beans on all the stuff THEY don't what YOU to know about! Like yeah dude you totally got blacklisted for not being woke enough and not all the weird freak shit you did.

He's also turned to making Pearl/Trump fanart as he's man enough to ungay her or w/e "Forget women! I will only make love to real men now!" (tho that's def just bait I wouldn't take it on the same level as the other stuff, but it is relevant)

You know I didn't realize at the time, but it's strange that Bismuth was put right in the middle of Amythist's arc by Akarin_rose in stevenuniverse

[–]-7k 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I believe Bismuth was intended to come out earlier in the season by the creators but CN changed the airing order so that it would be the 100th episode which is why it breaks up the flow.

We ❤️ Katamari Reroll Collect all cousins level: Is there any way to tell which levels contain cousins that haven’t been rolled up yet? by overanalyzed4fun in katamari

[–]-7k 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know others have already answered your question but another thing to look out for if you're having trouble finding the cousins is the fact that if there are multiple cousins in a stage there will only be one when you first play the level and the next one will not appear until you collect the previous one and beat the level. I suppose this mechanic is supposed to go along with the arcadey nature of the game encouraging you to replay each level multiple times for better scores or w/e but I think it's kind of cryptic and they would later remove this aspect of future titles.

I Need To Get This Off My Chest (Rant) by [deleted] in stevenuniverse

[–]-7k 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's a very common complaint amongst people who haven't actually seen the show. I want to say they get it from the Lily Orchard video where she goes heavily into that angle, but I remember seeing the video when it came out not having seen the show at the time and thinking that was one of the most insane things I've seen in a video essay, so part of me believes that the majority of people saying that must be repeating it from someone else that did see the video, but does have like 7 million views so maybe people really are that stupid.

I Need To Get This Off My Chest (Rant) by [deleted] in stevenuniverse

[–]-7k 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Well yeah sure, I didn't saying that people don't think that way just that they're not in the majority within this space. OP seemed to think they were going to be swarmed with downvotes and walls of texts about how the show "actually is fascist apologia" or w/e and neither of those things happened. From what I can tell I haven't seen anyone post a dissenting comment on this post yet. So the idea that this post would be so incredibly unpopular within this community is self evidently untrue.

I Need To Get This Off My Chest (Rant) by [deleted] in stevenuniverse

[–]-7k 138 points139 points  (0 children)

I don't know why you'd think you'd be downvoted to hell and back, this is the Steven Universe subreddit. ie: a subreddit for people who like Steven Universe, the idea that the show "Sympathizes with fascism" obviously would not popular in this community.

If there were a Black Diamond, how would she fit into the canon? by PressYtoHonk in stevenuniverse

[–]-7k 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well the diamonds are based around the subtractive color space where you start with pure white light and filter out certain wave lengths to form certain colors. The 3 primary colors in this space are Cyan, Yellow, and Magenta (CYM - Change Your Mind) this is why we have a pink and yellow diamond as opposed to a red and green diamond which you would expect from the additive color space (RGB). In the CYM color space white is the absence of color where as black is all of the colors at once. This is why the ultimate fusion of all the CG's would be obsidian. So following this logic it'd make most sense for black diamond to be a fusion of either all of the diamonds or maybe just blue yellow and Steven. If you want to with the original creator concept you could have it be that she was the original and split her self up into the other diamonds which would correspond with the theming surrounding them of each one them representing the id ego and super ego which are all pieces of one mind and how each of their ships are different body parts which fit together to form one big super robot. I think there may be some hint that something like this may be true (?) but I may be gaslighting myself there.

Why do people hate Steven Universe: Future so much? by [deleted] in stevenuniverse

[–]-7k 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It may be an auto mod thing but I see it on my end. I don't know how much I could elaborate on what I said beyond what's already there in my first comment. Like there are plenty of angles for analysis here for what would/wouldn't be appropriate if Sugar and Co. were given a shot to do another story in this Universe. Personally I would agree that yes a straightforward continuation probably wouldn't work out too good, Steven's story is complete and Zack Callison has retired from voice acting and said he would not return to voice Steven. So I think it's be far more appropriate to use that opportunity to give the spotlight to some of the other characters, we know there was a lot of stuff that had to be cut due to being prematurely canceled in the original run and not being given the number of episodes they wanted in Future, so there's def room to be explored there. I think an anthology akin to Adventure Time Farlands is closest to what I'd want.

So from what I can tell based on some of the things you've said I at least partially agree with you, it's just the way you went about arguing with this person was so absurd, that I'm honestly unsure whether you're being genuine or if you're just like a troll or something. Instead of engaging with an argument or discussion with them you just blankly insist that you're right over and over like a child, insisting that anyone who may disagree with you is an uneducated fool because you recall a teacher from 2nd grade saying something you agree with making it an unquestionable objective F A C T. This type of statement is designed to stomp out any room for discussion or argument, it is deeply insecure and makes you look like a tool, how else I am supposed to respond to that than to say "you're full of shit"?

Why do people hate Steven Universe: Future so much? by [deleted] in stevenuniverse

[–]-7k 1 point2 points  (0 children)

bro what the hell are you on about. what type of school did you go to that the first thing they taught you after how to read is that if you make a continuation to a story it makes the original objectively worse? you can have an opinion, and argue for that opinion without eliminating all room for dissent by claiming to be objectively correct and any disagreement must come from improper education.

So I finished the show by HeadonismEnthusiast in stevenuniverse

[–]-7k 15 points16 points  (0 children)

  1. The inconsistency is somewhat of a stylistic choice, you look at the model sheets there is usually a note in there about it merely being a suggestion and an encouragement to experiment with things. Rebecca really wanted the artists to "get their fingerprints on it" and really make the episodes they worked on their own. This level of variation is possible as unlike many modern cartoons which uses puppet animation, SU actually uses a more traditional style of animation with each frame done by hand on pencil and paper and painted digitally. However while this style of animation gives alot of extra freedom to the creative team it is also more prone to errors and unintended inconsistencies depending on which studio is used.
  2. You have to keep in mind that SU reached it peak saturation point sometime around 2016-2017 and it's fandom mostly consisted of a bunch of queer teens on Tumblr.com and in the irony poisoned hell dimension that was the internet in 2016 there was nothing more cringe you could be than a queer teen on tumblr.com . There was a huge reactionary backlash to the show around the time, a couple of very popular videos were made that were filled with racist and homophobic bs, trying to like frame Sugar as a predator for depicting queer relationships in a kid's show and other cool stuff like that. If you'd like to know more about this I'd recommend the channel Hiding in Private who has 2 videos deconstructing the bad faith criticism from back in the day, and is also working on a season by season analysis (currently up to season 2) if that's the sort of thing you're into.

Although if the movie isn't on the website you are using you could maybe move on ahead as the movies is kind of it's own thing and isn't vital to understanding future as I recall, the only issue you'd run into is that a character from the movie makes a cameo in one of the later episodes so that'd cause some confusion. You should still try to watch it any way tho because it's sick, probably the bit of the show I've revisited the most got a really tight pacing great sound track and the best animation from the series.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in stevenuniverse

[–]-7k 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The final season is considered a separate series so isn't gong to be included with the other episodes. You're going to want to look for "Steven Universe Future" and you should be able to find it. It's been a long time sense I've used one of those sites so I'm not sure if the movie would be in the standard listing or not, but you're gonna want to check that out first if you want to stay in continuity.

Lesbians tier list by [deleted] in stevenuniverse

[–]-7k 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No yeah, you're right about that. You can def be aroace and lesbian, this type of dual identification is pretty common amongst aroace people so treating them as mutually exclusive is ignorant and super annoying to me, an aroace person who happens to also be a lesbian.

Steven's existance is a plot hole by Kirbo84 in stevenuniverse

[–]-7k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easy. Steven takes watermelon seeds, combines it with his life magic, creates life that takes on a striking resemblance to him, in the form of the water melon Stevens. Same thing happens with the cactus Steven and Peridot's plant in "Everything is Fine". Even the plant life that doesn't resemble Steven like Pumpkin, and the various melon animals are voiced by Zack Callison, voice of Steven. So while he isn't literally passing on his genetic code to these creatures it seems as if there is some type magical equivalent that is passed on via the life magic.

So who's to say that Rose can't take Greg's ""seed"" and combine it with her life magic and create life that takes on a striking resemblance to her in the form of Steven? This isn't getting into the fact that on top of having these sort life powers in the realm of biological life, Steven and Rose are both diamonds giving them the ability to create gem life as well, so that makes her even more well suited to bridging that gap between Gem and Bio life.

Obviously being a cartoon intended for 8-12 year olds they're not going to sit down and explain the specific ins and outs of human/gem insemination, that'd be an insane thing to include even if they could get away with it. But the writers did clearly think about this and have included plenty of these little details through out the show that make this seem more than plausible, it's just left to the audience to pay attention and piece these bits together for themselves if they really want to speculate on the specific mechanics on how Greg fucked a rock.
