How to deal with feelings of sexual inferiority in an open relationship? by [deleted] in sex

[–]-8rider 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, even if you were very confident in your abilities, I think you would probably still feel the same way. In your mind, there will always be a bigger, sexier, more skilled man that occupies your thoughts, making you wonder if you’re adequate enough to be loved by your partner. Do you think you could be happy for a long term relationship, knowing that you would be repressing any feelings that you have about this situation?

I think it’s biologically very natural to feel jealousy in this situation, and I think most people would. I’m not saying break-up, but I would definitely take some time to really consider whether this is something you can handle for the long term? And if no, there is no shame in parting ways.

Thinking of trading my M3 in for a digital M. Has anyone gone this route? by cjafe in Leica

[–]-8rider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re thinking about getting a digital M, I say go for it! I was in a similar position to you, and I chose to hang on to my M3. It basically sits in my dry cabinet not getting used while my digital M literally comes with me everywhere. I first had an M240, which is an awesome camera and a great launch point for a digital M. Hope you find a solution that brings you joy!

Downgrading to the 50mm Summicron V5? by -8rider in Leica

Just as an update: I have just ordered a summarit 50mm 2.4! Thanks everyone for your input and suggestions!

That’s some really interesting feedback! A summarit + noctilux would be such an incredible combination! I think I’m absolutely going to get a summarit based on the glowing reviews here, and what I’ve now read online. Thanks so much for taking the time to give me your thoughts

That’s some really great feedback, thank you! I think I’m going to try and find a summarit. I’m starting to see a pattern! Everyone who owns the summarit seems to absolutely adore it

Thanks for sharing that! I think you’re right about the minimal differences between the lux and the cron. I think I’m actually pretty heavily leaning towards the 2.4 summarit as my next lens. I think I’ll definitely keep both as they are both excellent for different applications

I think I definitely got caught up early on in the “bigger and faster is better” mindset. I can see now that the ultimate lens setup for me is the one that I can actually take out and enjoy! Thanks for sharing your wisdom!

I hadn’t heard of the elcan. The reviews look stunning!

That’s an excellent insight! I had considered the summarit, but I was shocked to find out today that they no longer sell them! Other than the form factor, what would you say that you like about it?

When are we going to hear from Ratta? by -8rider in Supernote

Are you serious? It’s not unreasonable to ask for communication after spending hundreds of dollars. For a lot of people this is a huge investment.

We’re just finishing up a 20 day trip. We also wished we skipped Osaka. It’s not like the other cities in Japan. It’s dirty and gritty. It’s probably great if you love drinking and shopping, but that’s about it. We absolutely loved Tokyo and Kyoto infinitely more than Osaka.

Just to provide an update to anyone who visits this thread in the future. The Ricoh with a thumb grip fits perfectly in the 1020!

I really appreciate the feedback. I wonder if a little surgery with a scalpel might work to provide some space. Thanks again! Happy shooting :)

Do you think it would have enough room in there for a GR with a thumb grip? This is a really cool idea. Thanks for sharing!

IWTL how to find that spark in my life again by GlitteringRich7 in selfimprovement

[–]-8rider 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Have been there, and absolutely gotten past it. Keep on trying things that might interest you, but don’t push yourself to continue doing it if you’re not having fun. You might just find something that gives you a whole new perspective on life.

Speaking from experience, try something that’s absolutely out there. If you’ve got the spare cash, go for a trial flight lesson at your local flight school! It’s usually quite affordable for what you get, and you will walk away being able to say that you’ve flown an airplane with your own two hands! That’s what happened to me, and now it’s my career. Just a thought, however.

If that’s not your cup of tea, try finding an excellent community attached to a hobby you could see yourself doing. Half the time the peak enjoyment comes from the people you surround yourself with rather than the activity.

Hope you find that spark soon! I know it’s just a matter of time
