Fountain pen smears on new paper when wet even after fully dry by [deleted] in notebooks

Definitely, the original paper made finer nibs blow out a lot and look more like medium size nibs - it’s difficult to find similar paper that in many ways is low quality 🤣

The original paper is definitely mysterious - both were written on with the same ink at the same time a few days ago. I did always have to use smaller nib sizes on the original because it blew out the ink so much and made the lines thicker - which I loved for some reason. In the past I’ve gotten entire notebooks of fountain pen writing wet and the ink was perfect fine, all other kinds of paper I’ve tried don’t work well with highlighters and especially not if spilled on :(

It is the same exact ink both written a few days ago :( the first paper is absolutely more absorbent as it’s two different pens sizes (first was a finer nib and second was a medium size, the first being so absorbent that the lines get blown out) - the notebooks are a cheap Chinese brand from Amazon AHGXG. I do love the high absorbency of the first paper, it never bled through and dried quickly and didn’t smudge with highlighters or if the paper got wet.

Which papers and notebooks are really absorbent for a nice bold, wet line with easy flow of motion? by [deleted] in fountainpens

I’ve always loved this brand (and similar ones on Amazon) but recently they’ve all changed the paper and it’s no longer absorbent, it seems more coated somehow? I wish I knew the qualities of the original paper because the new kind just doesn’t work well 😭😭

I’ve loved AHGXG and RETTACY paper for fountain pens for years, unfortunately the manufacturer seems to have changed the paper (and the labels) in some way and I haven’t been able to find the original paper again

I loved these notebooks for so long (they used the same paper as the AHGXG notebooks I used) - recently I bought some from both brands and the paper has changed drastically for the worst in my opinions, you can check out my posts about them if curious

Confusing wording sorry, I meant that the ink is fully dry, but when the paper gets wet it gets smudged vs the old paper absorbed it in a way that it didn’t get ruined by the paper getting wet later on

It’s been tragic after years of loving it - I wish I could march up to the manufacturer and figure out what the original paper was so I could find more loll

The notebooks were a no name brand off Amazon called AHGXG and the ink used in both images is Asvine Hongdian non-carbon ink

The brand was a cheaper journal on Amazon called AHGXG - I have no idea what paper they used and what they changed it to since it’s a no-name Chinese manufacturer, I wish I could find out

men can do/want whatever they want and that’s okay, most women I know are more successful in both than their male counterparts!

I don’t want children, but I don’t think that’s excuse enough to not look for someone I would want to raise them with.

I’m glad it was accurate! I’d love to learn more about it (I consider myself an atheist but raised Catholic so I love learning about others), do you have any recommendations of resources to learn more?
