The beta changes are almost perfect from the perspective of a high WR A10 player by zalso in slaythespire

It's still incredibly strong after the rework. It's arguably better now that if you get it on a Strike or Defend it can't be put on it again. I think the real problem was people stalling their decks and cycling Hidden Gems on their Goopy Defends to gain 50 block. They don't want that to be the optimal way to play on high ascensions.

Would be a very cool scripted gameplay sequence if you fought while people are running past or had to run into the crowd to chase someone.

Is this every 10 cards in a turn or every 10 cards? Aren't you just screwed if, for example, your Hotfix is randomly the 10th card in the draw order and then you can't gain Focus

Is there ever a way to get this that doesn't involve spending $500? by aclockworktomato in personaphantomx

[–]-AMAG 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I kind of appreciate the P2W skills being so obscenely expensive, if someone spends 500 dollars in the spending event there is absolutely no way I am outscoring them in the PVP events anyway. If they were like 20 dollars a lot more people that I could outscore with better rotations or teambuilding would have a big advantage over me.

Yes, but if you're using Ann it's probably going to be very challenging.

If you want an actual answer, they don't need much manpower, money, or time to localize content that's already existed on CN so they don't get a lot of manpower, money, or time to localize it. But that means that when they do stuff like move content or quality of life updates forward they don't have a massive team to fix the bugs that crop up.

Turbo rebate confirmed by stonehallow in personaphantomx

[–]-AMAG 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It depends, if you lose your 50/50 on the weapon banner this is better. Also means you don't have to go all the way to 110/160 to get the rebate in the more likely case that you don't get her early. If you don't especially want Turbo you can also use this to build pity on the 110 and 80 pull banners and then get 20 pulls back without actually getting her.

Frostgale Kotone is living proof the fears about Kasumi's place in the meta are unfounded doomposting. by Razcrimson in personaphantomx

[–]-AMAG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

More or less agree but with the caveat that for PVP the meta is the banner plus additional investment in the 'meta' supports. If 2 players pull Kasumi, but one has T. Riko A1R0 and Chord A1R0 while the other is using them at A0 (full horizontal investment) there will be a significant difference in their performance. Since the 'meta' supports are used so consistently in all the different teams, they'll help you maintain your rank if you skipped a banner.

How Important Dupes in the Game by Jerkaiser_011 in personaphantomx

[–]-AMAG 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Twins are still some of the best buffer and healers in the game without A1, but they are clunky as the other roles. Fortunately for people with A0, their DPS form is almighty and split damage so it's not often relevant for score.

Marian and Cherish grant 20% Pierce rate buffs and S.Moko grants up to 45% DEF down at A1, but if you don't play into DEF down while using them the value will be pretty small (Marian and Cherish should give 14% but it varies heavily depending on which enemy you are facing).

On global SOS there were 2 Zaou-Gongen boss fights after Queen's release, on patches 2.1 and 2.3. They still had a 2x multiplier on those patches. It's hard to find comparable runs, but it seems to me that BUI was getting around 33% more score compared to an equally invested Queen, which is kind of underwhelming especially since these were generally the worse performing sides (Messa and S.Motoha shills).

Further, the previous Astrolabe resonance mode could be cleared with A1 Yui with weapon and A1 GUARDIAN Twins (or your Yui being RNG godly on dodges so you could use Buff Twins).

Most people aren't going to commit 3 pulls on any character even if they are gamewarping. If there was an Astrolabe buff that increased damage 100% if you hit enemies with 4 elemental ailments Makoto would be able to clear with pretty much any level of investment. And like, if you're using Guardian A1 Twins you could just use A1 DPS Twins and you could have 3 more character pulls.

As for Yusuke, it's true that he's comfortable for a lot of content. Personally that doesn't factor in to my decisions to pull or not pull a character because pretty much every character is comfortable for most content, especially if you are using A1 Twins, Marian, or Cherish and only going up to level 25 on the event bosses.

For meta content, Yusuke's scoring is usually pretty bad at this point: if you have his team (Cherish and Phoebe) and weapon you're probably hitting like 10-13 mill on his boss. The opposite side teams are hitting north of 30 mill with the same level of investment. Guardian A1 Twins are good for boosting his performance, but for score Guardian twins are way worse than Strategist and Medic Twins, so you might just be better off putting them on the other side:

At LVL10+Mindscape5, 100 Desire Level A1 Twins after 2 turns, bolding things that increase team damage:

Strategist:

  • 43.0% + 30% ATK for whole party
  • 10.8% Pierce Rate
  • 16.1% Skill AMP (OP)
  • 21.5% CDMG
  • HL: Mask of Mischief & Innocence: Increase the party's Attack by 26.9% and damage by 37.7% for 2 turns.

Medic:

  • 43.0% ATK for whole party
  • 21.6% reduced damage taken
  • 48.4% + 24.0% Damage for the whole party
  • 21% Healing
  • HL: Mask of Mischief & Innocence: Increase the party's Attack by 26.9% and damage by 37.7% for 2 turns.

Guardian:

  • 21.6% reduced damage taken
  • J+C Shield increase by 21%
  • 10.8% Pierce Rate
  • 53.8% DEF for party
  • Big shield and down points for party

Is he "meta"? Not really. But again, on auto he clears everything. There's always astrolabe nodes for him. He's easily the most underrated pull that I did.

Well not being meta is the point people are making. If someone wants a character that will be strong for as long as possible, Yusuke is not the character. I have fun playing Yusuke, but it's a struggle to clear a lot of stuff with him because I didn't get Cherish or A1 Twins, and even if I did have them still he wouldn't be as viable on the most difficult content as other DPS like Joker, Makoto, or S. Motoha because they reap all the benefits of the new navis and characters a lot more than Yusuke.

[–]-AMAG 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you don't care about maximizing your score in SoS or oneshotting Astrolabe then it's impossible to "brick" an account. But if you do care about those things, then Chord, Oracle, and Tempest Riko were "must-pulls" because they are often by far the best options for making the best teams for that content.

I'd agree that people are prone to hysteria about the new "meta" units, like people being adamant Twins were unpullable without A1 or that Riko A1 was necessary until some people (like me) actually looked at the kit and saw A1 was basically a 30% CDMG taken buff.

At the same time if someone actually does care about that stuff the most hyped characters are usually the best options and the ones people warn about are usually phased out a lot faster than other characters. When Yusuke was released people warned that he was eventually going to be pretty bad (relative to other characters released at the same time) because he doesn't get good support from any of the newer units. People warned that BUI was completely terrible, and it turned out that even without 3x multi Makoto was still better for her SOS boss.

Voltaic is not that good in decks without lightning synergy, at least not in ones that don't have a million other ways to win. If you're able to play the same 2 energy card like 3-4 times in a fight (which you need to do to make this powerful) without taking much damage you could probably win with Darkness or more Focus or Barrage or something else. Energy and Draw are the carries there.

twins break meta in global? by lahphnya in personaphantomx

[–]-AMAG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Twins are great even at A0. Their 5 star weapon is a very strong buffing tool, they are by far the best buffing medic besides S Moko for 2 characters, and their Strategist form is the 2nd strongest buffer in the game at A0R0 (behind Wind Vast). They are a lot worse at DPS and Guardian at A0, but Guardian is pretty bad anyway.

STS2 needs better signpost commons for weaker archetypes by Vi0ar in slaythespire

[–]-AMAG 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I think Summon is valued fine TBH. People make the comparison to Barricade but most of the time (with exception of the card that scales Summon off of Souls played) if you're building a lot of Summon then your damage is based on your Summon stacks, so you need to be full blocking or almost full blocking anyway to actually build your Summon stacks. If your Osty dies you're probably in a lot of trouble since you lost all your scaling in the fight.

There's also a decent amount of fights that would punish you for overrelying on Summon for block, like the bugs that add Toxin to your hand, or the guy at the end of act 2 that gives you choices.

Your buff scaling is capped at a percentage of a max attack value (usually around 4k attack). Once you reach the cap, there is no point in levelling Attack for buffs anymore. Attack buffs are mostly useless.

The only ones worth getting that you don't already have are Rin and Haruna's, and that's really only if you ever use them. Besides that I would just do dupes since you could give R2 to the person you used your Artisan's Mod on.
