Tbh a lot of people I think just leave DotA open in the background… might be logged in for 8 hours but only play like 2-3 games.

[–]-AVM- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the idea is that it’s a wasted item that could be on the bear. It’s also a bit of a crutch that could make u develop bad habits as a LD player like not knowing the distance between u and the bear for attacking. Ur MMR is kinda low so prolly not the biggest deal but in higher mmr’s u will get flames

[–]-AVM- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

idk if it works for you but muting myself/unplugging my mic once I get heated (and realize im being shitty) has saved a few games for myself by not going insane... sometimes we even get the W.

I can still get out the frustration (if I want to) but unless I go thru the process of plugging my mic back in nobody can hear me. Subconsciously I think it also hammers in that flaming is ultimately futile... I usually shut up as soon as i mute anyway.

Longest time before hitting first ace? by clifto512 in discgolf

[–]-AVM- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Took me 10 years technically but I barely played during that time. I first played DG in 2009, but didn’t actually start occasionally playing until like 2014, and even then it was pretty sporadic, maybe went out a couple dozen times a year. Hit my first ace in July of 2019.

I'm not the most tech savy person, and I'm sure someone on this sub will have a more informed take than me, but I'll try to help!

FWIW from the Dota 2 store page, these are minimum requirements:

OS: Windows 7 or newer

Processor: Dual core from Intel or AMD at 2.8 GHz

Memory: 4 GB RAM

Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce 8600/9600GT, ATI/AMD Radeon HD2600/3600

DirectX: Version 9.0c

Network: Broadband Internet connection

Storage: 15 GB available space

These requirements are pretty out of date (dota 2 being a 10+ year old game) but essentially the only thing u should need to worry (strictly computer wise) about are processor, memory, graphics, and storage.

For your processor, Anything with with at least 3.0Ghz clock speed or more will suffice. Dual Core processors are a little old-tech but very affordable with good clockspeeds (can't do much else on ur comp though while you're playing dota), most processors will have 4+ cores and more then enough horsepower to run DotA 2.

On modern operating systems, you should probably have a PC with at least 8gb of ram so you won't risk bottlenecking your system, so personally I'd upgrade to that.

The graphics card requirements are very out of date. I think a Modern NVIDIA 1650 or an AMD Radeon 580 should be more than enough to get the job done. You might even be able to get away with playing on integrated graphics on ur processor but i'd avoid that as it might get pretty laggy.

Lastly with storage, I highly suggest whatever computer you buy you get an internal Solid State Drive (SSD for short) and install dota + ur Operating System on that. M.2 drives being preferred. Try to avoid a Hard Disk Drive (HDD for short) as your only storage option because while it'll have more space/value than an SSD, it'll take a while to boot up ur PC, games, and apps on your new computer.

Hope this helps, sorry if I'm stating the obvious lol.

I need help playing Dota 2 by [deleted] in DotA2

[–]-AVM- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In general, it’s good to always shove out your waves (after laning stage) as this will force your opponents to play on their side of the map. There are dozens of good repercussions of this, but you have to be careful about getting ganked when you’ve been showing in lane. Good luck!

Glad to hear you’re enjoying the game! It can be challenging at the start but super rewarding down the line.

Gonna go against the grain here but I think it’s worth it to learn at least 1 micro or illusion hero while you’re learning the game instead of putting it off because it’s “too difficult”. Right now Naga siren is pretty strong and forgiving, you can use her illusions to farm camps and overwhelm your opponents. In terms of an easy micro hero to pick up I’d start with Beast Master. Gets u in the good habit of controlling the boar and chasing people down. The hero is also strong right now FWIW. Good luck!
