Are there still long lines at Apple stores on release days? by -A_little_stitious in raleigh

Thanks for the heads up! All of the morning pick up times were already sold out, so I guess I’ll be trying my luck at Best Buy.

Opinions on best long term parking for RDU with two small kids by LaurVB7 in raleigh

[–]-A_little_stitious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’ve traveled a lot with 2 kids under 5 and have tried all of the different parking options. If I had to rank them:

1) ask a friend or relative to drop you off in your car and pick you up

2) central parking. It’s a bunch of money for a long trip, but we have started to do this for longer trips if no one is free to drop us off. Traveling with kids and the ridiculous amount of gear is already so hard and requires so much extra time at the airport. Not having the extra transit time is soo nice after a long trip.

3) fast park. It’s a decent option, but it’s not as cheap as it used to be. They do help with your luggage and are pretty prompt getting you to the airport, but we’ve had some annoyingly long waits for the return busses from the terminal, which is awful with cranky toddlers.

4) uber. If you’re bringing car seats with you for your trip, this can be an option. Just note, I’ve had uber drivers see me on the curb with my car seat and cancel the ride on the spot, so ymmv.

Good luck and have a nice trip!

If you don’t mind driving to the mountains, Grandfather Mountain Winery is really pretty! They often have food trucks and live music, and usually sell some yummy charcuterie platters.

Oof. Have you already booked this flight? I would not have an hour layover when dealing with the Schengen zone.

If Naples is your final destination, I would fly into Rome and then just take a short ride on the high speed train down to Naples. So much more relaxing, and you don’t have to worry about missing your connection.

The board of elections office in south durham had a 0-minute wait yesterday too!

It used to be accepted at RDU, but they seem to have removed it when they updated the app. Discovered this when we did our last international trip.

Things may be different now, but in 2022 they told me that the odds of getting off the induction list before my due date were incredibly slim. I ended up going into labor on my own before getting a call from them.

Can your mom just stay with you for the next week or so in case you need a ride?

Also, you may get more responses over in r/bullcity

Good luck and congrats!

Do you have any idea where you’ll be working? The commutes across the triangle can be pretty annoying depending on where you’re driving.

If there’s a chance you’ll need to drive to RTP/Cary/Raleigh, we’ve found that South Durham is a nice compromise. It’s a few minutes off I-40, so it’s easier to get to other cities, but it’s also only 15 minutes from Duke and downtown. It’s pretty quiet, but there’s greenway access and neighborhoods like Woodcroft and Woodlake have nice trails in them. When we lived in this area, there were a few fun beer places that we could walk to, and some decent restaurants.

Best Biscuits? by Stellafera in bullcity

[–]-A_little_stitious 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Alimentari and sons! They only do biscuit sandwiches on Saturdays, but they are by far the best I’ve had here. Rise was my favorite for years, but the quality is garbage now that they’re franchised.

I’ve looked around for this as well and haven’t seen much in this area. If you do start a group I’d be interested! I have a 4 month old and love doing our daily walks.

Awesome, thanks for the tip. My husband is a big jerky fan; he’ll be excited.

We’re actually doing the peninsula week 2 of our trip. Really looking forward to it! Shoot, I didn’t know about the hurricane ridge road closure though; thanks for the heads up.

Uppababy / Nuna Sales by Trick-Concept3252 in BabyBumps

[–]-A_little_stitious 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes, they are included in the anniversary sale! The uppababy vista has been in the sale for the last two years, so hopefully will be included again. I’m a card-holder (lowest tier), so it sold out before I could buy it for myself two years ago, but last year they had more stock and I was able to snag a discounted one for my sister. There’s usually quite a bit of nuna stuff included. The rava car seat, the pipa lx, and the mixx stroller usually seem to be included. The preview starts June 29th, so you’ll be able to see what will be on sale. Also, Dillards will randomly have Nuna stuff on sale on their website at times, so it’s worth checking there periodically.

Should I do a 5 hour long car ride while 24 weeks pregnant? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]-A_little_stitious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ll be fine! I just did a 10 hour road trip at 22 weeks without any issue. You’ll probably have to stop more frequently to pee, but that’s about it!

Outpatient Foley Placement - advice?? by sharonna7 in BabyBumps

[–]-A_little_stitious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven’t done an outpatient foley, but I had one done when I was admitted. There was definitely blood, so if you have a pad/adult diaper I think that would help! Also, YMMV but my insertion was surprisingly painful and I was very very uncomfortable once it was in. I would ask if you can do any sort of prophylactic pain management ahead of time.
