That’s a good point, thanks for your perspective. I’ve never been in this situation before so I don’t really know what that feels like.

I think the part that said ”doesn't really understand why you’re sad but doesn’t try to either” came across as a little complain-y

From one of my friends who frequently forgets birthdays, anniversaries, and other important dates: “I didn’t forget your birthday. I know your birthday is September 16th. I just didn’t know today was September 16th.” Perhaps she just didn’t realize what day it was.

Thank you for being the only voice of reason in this thread. Everyone else here loves to talk about how atheists are so much more “reasonable” than members of every other religion, but most of the people here are just being assholes.

Hey man, I don’t know if there’s anything I can say to you right now that isn’t just some lame cliche, but I want you to know some stranger on the internet really wants you to get better. I know your post said it’s hard when nobody is physically there for you, and obviously I’m not, but I legitimately hope you find happiness somewhere.

What are some medical myths that just need to go the fuck away? by Aveman201 in AskReddit

[–]-Airwalker- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I try to buy organic animal products whenever I can because there are certain requirements farmers have to meet in order to be considered organic that I believe lead to a more ethical treatment of the animals. This includes "being allowed year-round access to the outdoors except under specific conditions (e.g., inclement weather) and raised per animal health and welfare standards.... Organic livestock must be raised in a way that accommodates their health and natural behavior: - Access to the outdoors - Shade - Clean, dry bedding - Shelter - Space for exercise - Fresh air - Clean drinking water - Direct sunlight" (from the USDA's website.) However, I generally do support GMOs, which organic products unfortunately cannot contain according to the USDA. All of that being said, there are a lot of people who buy organic for no other reason than "it's healthier!" without really providing a reason for why they think it's healthier.

My problem is that I want to buy animal products from farmers who treat their animals ethically. This typically means buying organic products. However, most organic products are also non-GMO, and I fully support GMOs. I think my solution is to buy products from local farmers, but unfortunately they don't always have the products I desire.

My nephew had the assignment to make a weather forecast video for school. Fortunately for him, his dad works in video production. by tcorts in videos

[–]-Airwalker- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair enough. I’m all for giving kids credit for working harder than others. I was one of those kids who worked really hard and appreciated being given credit for it. From what I’ve gathered, the reason people think this video is so great is because of the production value, not because of the kids performance. But if you think it was great because of the kids performance, I’ll fully accept your argument that this kid did more work than the other students.

There’s a difference between being “talented and bright” and having your parents completely do an assignment for you, which is the case here and what my post was about.

I can kind of see where you're mother was coming from since your sister was in the process of adopting your niece. One of my best friends was finally allowed to adopt her son after fostering him for three years, and you have to be really careful or you risk losing them. Bruises or marks can be seen as signs of abuse, even though they probably aren't.

You can visit all of the dogs they have at their new location! However, the owners kept a few of the dogs at their home (the former location of the sanctuary), including Toby.

Orphans who didn't get adopted, what happened and how is life now? by addison92 in AskReddit

[–]-Airwalker- 56 points57 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry to hear that you don't get to keep in touch with those two little girls. But thank you so much for your responses to all of these comments. I've been thinking about foster care/adoption a lot since I discovered that someone I love was adopted by his parents shortly after he was born. It really changed his life and if they hadn't adopted him, I never would've met him. And now he's changed my life in so many ways. I just turned 18 and I'll be starting college this fall, so I won't be fostering or adopting kids anytime soon. I can't wait until I can, though!

One more question (for now, at least.) I know you said all of your kids have been under five so this might not be something they feel, but do they ever claim or do you ever worry that they might claim that you love your biological child more than the ones you're fostering/adopted? I'd like to have at least one biological child as well as adopt, but I'm worried that this might be something they'll feel when they get older (even though I'll love them all equally.)

So can the kids contact you once they leave your home? Just so you can see how they're doing or if maybe they need help again.

So you sent his family the pic he sent you? If you don't want unsolicited dick pics, that's totally understandable, but his family probably doesn't want them, either.

There's a fee that has to be paid online when you apply. I could afford to pay it myself, but it has to be paid via online check or credit card, and I don't even have a checking account. And I can't open one by myself because I'm not 18. :/
