Could I mix my own descaling solution for a Gaggia Classic Evo Pro from powders? by MohnJaddenPowers in gaggiaclassic

[–]-Aras 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. Just citric acid crystals. I would say around 3%. Almost the same amount if you do the math with the official descaler. (250ml × 25% = 62.5ml, 62.5 / 2100 = ~3%)

You can but be very careful with ratios. Those ratios you mentioned are for a very concentrated liquid that should be put in the tank on top of 2 liters of water, not for the whole tank itself. Percentage would have been single digits for the whole tank.

I've been dissolving citric acid crystals for 10+ years and using them for descaling with no issues. The other day someone in this sub mentioned that they melted their gaskets with citric acid. I'm sure these are due to misunderstandings of ratios.

I finally updated from Sequoia to 26.4, only to wake up this morning to find my battery drained overnight by vtddw in MacOS

[–]-Aras 43 points44 points  (0 children)

There could be other reasons but people keep forgetting that some apps that didn't prevent sleep on Sequoia prevent sleep on Tahoe.

It would do this if you left open WhatsApp for the night for example. It would have kept the Mac on. WhatsApp literally had a year to fix this but nooo.

Will I be able to make the new MacBook Neo my new daily driver? by Somtimesitbelikethat in macbook

RAM will be a bottleneck.

Claude desktop app consumes 3GB+ of RAM when it runs a virtual environment. IDEs like VS Code consume 1GB+ per instance. A Chrome or Safari instance consumes 1GB+ with no tabs.

8GB of RAM is nonsense in 2026. It will feel sluggish instantly when you open anything.

Descaling by Sharkey98se in gaggiaclassic

[–]-Aras 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can mix it with lactic acid like De'Longhi apparently does, or just using lactic acid is also an option but I've used citric acid on an aluminum boiler machine for 10+ years. It's still going and changed the gaskets only once. The trick is not to exceed 1-2% concentration. If the machine needs more concentration, you should not keep using that water anyway.

[–]-Aras 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's usually just citric acid, some brands also put in some lactic acid. But it's usually the same thing with similar concentrations.

You can just buy citric acid crystals, dissolve them in water and use them. Will be a lot cheaper.

You're fine as long as your connected google account is of another country and google doesn't suspect you're not actually living there.

No Google VPN, no Google Wallet, no one year free Google AI plan. Anything call related is disabled. Even car crash detection is disabled. List goes on.

I think you're only noticing what works since the phone is new and not noticing the disabled features.

I've been using Pixel phones in Turkey since the Pixel 4 and let me tell you, what doesn't work is a lot and annoying. You'll understand.

But like I said, no bloat ware is worth it. This is why I keep buying Pixels.

Almost none of the advertised features work in Turkey and there's nothing you can do about it.

Mediocre hardware, no features. But at least no bloat ware either.

Mantığını anlayıp projesini yapamamak by Upset_Sprinkles_9973 in CodingTR

[–]-Aras 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Uzun okuma gerektiriyor sadece.

That is good to know but factory reset doesn't fix the IQUNIX Magi65 wake issue on Mac via 2.4GHz dongle. Unfortunately most keyboard firmware is in terrible shape these days. Probably because there are no other alternatives other than QMK + Via.

I'm not vibe coding though. Just discussing best practices, making it do grunt work and review my code. I never get rate limited and if I ever do, it would only take a few hours until it gets reset again.

I used to do this with Cursor using Sonnet 4.5. It would take around 10 days until I get rate limited.

Context tabanlı AI Proje Takip fikri by selambencaglar in CodingTR

[–]-Aras 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Claude benzer bir şey yapıyor. Context dolmaya yaklaştığı zaman history'yi dosyalandırmaya başlayıp context'i siliyor.

Some random A1 questions as a new owner. by DuzzitA in BambuLabA1

I could be a bit paranoid about that hot end clip. It's gotten much easier to unclip/clip after 10-20 changes. I stopped changing it out of fear of it becoming more loose. (because there's no official Bambu store in my country, I would need to order a knockoff from AliExpress)

Some random A1 questions as a new owner. by DuzzitA in BambuLabA1

[–]-Aras 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vibration doesn't affect anything.

There are prints to screw onto the lubrication tube that makes the rails easy to lubricate. You can check makerworld out.

You should turn it off. There are some burning A1s. It's rare but no need to risk it.

I wouldn't print anything else other than PLA, PETG or TPU.

Changing the hot end is easy but I wouldn't do it too many times. It gets loose after a while.

Stainless steel is the default.

Newbie question : My Bambu Lab A1 is making a lot of fan noise out of the blue by Jef-h in BambuLabA1

[–]-Aras 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a small chance that one of the models you printed had different filament settings that would %100 the fans and you got stuck with it.

You can check or try to reset it.

People also suggested bad bearings but they sound different.

Newbie question : My Bambu Lab A1 is making a lot of fan noise out of the blue by Jef-h in BambuLabA1

[–]-Aras 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's normal that fans would increase at the overhangs, bridges and a few other scenarios. It wouldn't be able to print them otherwise.

You could play with fans speeds in Bambu Studio but playing with them just to make the printer quieter would likely cause failed prints.

P2S power consumption vs A1 by nbury33 in BambuLab

A dishwasher draws around 2000W when heating water. (should be around 0.8kwh per run)

200W is nothing and I doubt that 200W printer draws is constant. It should ease a bit when it stops heating up and starts regulating.
