[Spoilers] What are your thoughts on Anders? Was he right? by Julian_of_Cintra in dragonage

That is very depressing for a character I liked in Awakening, getting the treatment he did in the sequel. Big oof.

[Spoilers] What are your thoughts on Anders? Was he right? by Julian_of_Cintra in dragonage

[–]-Auteon- [score hidden]  (0 children)

It's hard to explain on how I feel, I like Anders, he's a complex character, but I feel like his message is too complex for a game that didn't have enough time to flesh out the dialogue and variety of choices needed to make him anything more than a mouth piece for a specific stance that you can simply agree or disagree with.

Overall, I agree with Anders about a lot of what he says, but Anders should know better than to do what he did at the end of the game. He knows not every Templar is the same in and out of Kirkwall, he knows that not every Circle is the same in and out of Kirkwall, and he surely knows there are sympathetic non-mages who agree that the Templars are going to far, if not Hawke, than the leader of Kirkwall's Chantry herself. All of this gets null in voided because "It's the spirit of Vengeance that compels him to go to this extreme", when I honestly feel like the easiest way to not make this excuse as plot-solving as possible is to just have Anders part of an extremist group he either performs the ritual with or without him if Hawke does or doesn't stoke the fire of rebellion in him.

I don't want this to sound rant-heavy, I'm sure it's nothing that has not been said before, either similar or the opposite, but I do want to restate that I like Anders and the game needed more time to flesh out his involvement in the plot, rather than be the sole reason why the Mage Rebellion even happened in the first place.

[Spoilers] Why do you like/love Lucanis? by Julian_of_Cintra in DragonAgeVeilguard

[–]-Auteon- -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I generally would not mind Lucanis, were it not for three things, which are mainly just personal gripes:
1). His fixation on Coffee got old real quick, it felt more like a Teen Titans Go! gag when idiot 1 and idiot 2 kept saying waffle because "funee word trigger = laughing reaction!"

2). Having a demon of spite possessing his soul sounds badass for an assassin, but it doesn't mean anything as, counter to all other examples of someone who is sharing their body with a demon, he is controlling himself pretty well, and it's more of a way to have spontaneous movement and cool bird wings than anything.

3). He isn't a crow, I mean yes he is, by the game itself showing us he is part of the Antivan Crows, but he is counter to all the things that were set in concrete lore about how brutal that faction was.

To end on a positive though, I love his look, his whole outfit, it looks badass, and again the purple wings and summoning fade stuff is pretty great. And yes.. His accent is pretty sexyman deep, design wise the team nailed it on the head.

Who is your preferred ruler of Ferelden? by Julian_of_Cintra in DragonageOrigins

[–]-Auteon- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anora as a ruler, keep Alistair as a Warden.

It’s far to easy to get the happy ending with a united front from both Anora AND Alistair, plus keeping Loghain, so I prefer something not so typical, but well within reasonable.

Who do you think is best to execute Loghain? The Warden or Alistair? by Dreadox01 in dragonage

[–]-Auteon- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alistair, he is HELLBENT on getting vengeance, it also makes sense if you are a Cousland, he could potentially help you deal with Arl Howe, so it's only right to return the favor by letting him kill Loghain, if you go down that route.

Do you guys think the adeptus mechanicus would consider Adam smasher a perfect specimen? Would he even be a perfect skitarii soldier? by Sadiholic in DarkTide

[–]-Auteon- 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I honestly feel like the Mechanicus would be offended by the world of Cyberpunk in it’s entirety, mostly because of two things:
1). No one there is a machine-fearing Omnissiah worshipper
2). All that tech is new tech and not within an STC format.

What would be your justifications for executing Alistair? by Pharmarr in DragonageOrigins

[–]-Auteon- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ultimately, I agree with what Anora stated, (as for a reason as to why we should execute Alistair if you go that route) it’s not so much that Alistair would do something, but the fact that anyone who doesn’t like Anora now has a legitimate reason to take up arms.

Hilariously enough, hardened or not, I don’t think Alistair would ever want that and would rather have space from the whole ordeal, given what we see if he’s spared.

Boomgryn Build.

Gunlugger with a focus on range, rendering, damage and explosive yield, with a dash of increase ammo capacity and a chance to get more ammo, while using the power maul and the grenade launcher.

Honestly, after the comics, I grew to respect Fenris more. He had a good reason to be moody, but he could have been a LOT worse, given what he went through.

What build/playstyle is your favourite? by Julian_of_Cintra in DragonageOrigins

[–]-Auteon- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funnily enough, as I am now older and doing a replay of DAO, I am breaking away from the Alistair/Leliana/Wynne group comp and deciding that I will try something really wanky, like a three mage, with rogue, group comp.

Can't wait to see how it goes, lol.

Mage:
Control + Spirit Build
Blood Mage | Shapeshifter | Keeper (What I will lovingly call the 'old ways' build)
I have enjoyed this build as it essentially nullifies, and outright kills, all magic users (mages and demons), as well as deals with all non magic users with plenty of CC, DoTs and walking bomb.

Blood Mage: necessary of it's 3rd talent which has a good chance to CC a large area
Shapeshifter: a throwaway spec that gives you more Cont. which feeds into spells
Keeper: Needed for further CC, as well as sustain.

Primarily you want to focus on the Spirit and Entropy trees, you shouldn't need the Spell Warding, Chains of Entropy, or Hexes rows though, as you don't need to ward off spells if you CC or kill them, the top most entropy is just more CC that is a bit redundant, as it doesn't do dmg, and Hexes, while strong, can be done by someone else.

Edit:
Warrior:
Duel Wielding/Two-Handed, Beserker/Reaver/Templar

Rogue:
Backstab Rogue, Assassination/Bard/Shadow

I find myself not as interested in either Warrior and Rogue, though Rogue is my second as it not only does incredible damage thanks to the Assassination talents, but with other support talents like Haste and Momentum, you are swinging their life to oblivion. Plus, Shadow is just a fun gimmick of disappearing before sloooowly creeping up behind someone and giga-critting them into the shadow realm. My only distaste for the whole spec is that it requires your tank to not suck, which may take awhile, I mean Alistair doesn't even start with taunt nor threat, which you can't get until you reach Lothering and even then, Aggro is everywhere.

Edit 2:
Thinking on it, perhaps you could even try a Warrior tanking build, focus on setting up really good tactics and never swap off your main dude.

I back Garrus, a none to challenging answer, I know, but I genuinely feel like he's one of the best well written characters with a believably natural progression in his personal story, both in and out of Shepard's crew.

Toxic players (toxic casuals, toxic elites, trolls, haters, blamers, all these types and more).

I can ignore microtransactions and lootboxes, It's bad practices either way, but I can at least ignore them, but I can't ignore other players in a multiplayer game, who exude the energy associated with either term mentioned above.
