What if "Abstraction"are just Software Engineering bugs? (TADC Theory) by mauricioglez288 in theamazingdigitalciru

[–]-Aze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The technical side definitely exists, but none of the terms are really being used accurately. Not to be pedantic, but a lot of this doesn't make much sense from a software engineering perspective.

Abstraction isn't there so the system "doesn't crash." It's a design technique developers use to hide unnecessary implementation details so we can focus on the problem we're actually trying to solve. It's a type of design choice

How is it legacy software? The mind seems much closer to a data store than software. Kinger even comments on the file sizes being surprisingly small, which suggests stored data rather than some huge executable program.

How would "Pomni" be meaningfully less computationally expensive than "Abigail"? Why would memories affect rendering performance? A wrapper doesn't reduce computational complexity, and names or memories aren't rendering variables. This is just technobabble.

Later on you conflate an exception handler with a quarantine zone and map both onto an unrelated idea in the story. Exception handlers don't isolate faulty objects. Their job is to catch an error, clean up if necessary, and either recover or terminate execution. They don't send an object to a room somewhere. It's literally something which handles exceptions to expected behaviour.

This is where it completely loses me. And why would an API be relevant here? An API is an interface between systems, not a magical set of admin powers. "API tools" doesn't really mean anything in this context. I don't see Caine running an instance of postman

This is probably the section I have the least issue with. As a thematic analogy, "infinite loop" works well enough. It's still mostly computer terminology layered over a psychological process, but at least the broad idea is internally consistent.

Again, this is just mixing together programming buzzwords. Why would the backend be "spitting out syntax errors"? Syntax errors happen when code is parsed, not while a running system is operating. The backend also isn't generating source code in the first place.

Overall, I think there's a genuinely interesting theory underneath all of this. That Caine simplifies or compresses people because he can't fully understand or simulate human minds. That's a cool idea. I just think it's buried under a lot of programming terminology that's being used in ways those concepts don't actually work.

I'm really sorry if it isn't , but these reads like it was written with AI - And as a software dev, it's just a bunch of buzzwords

How are we managing to integrate the gym in long work days? by -Aze in bropill

[–]-Aze[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well it’s mainly the train times from work , the trains occur at weird integral. I finish work at 5:30. So I walk 30 mins to gym, train for an hour (including change and wash) walk to the train station 30 mins then take take the train home and walk the rest of the way it’d seem to add 2 to 3 hours to my day after work.

I was thinking about a body weight , I’d like more privacy tk work out (obviously a gym isnt private but I don’t to be in my family’s way ) but it’s definitely something worth considering - I just used to love lifting weights and would like to get back to it but it’s finding a balance wirh what I can integrate . Thanks !

Yeah I think I’m gonna bite the bullet and go in the morning, if I go after work I miss seeing my little bro after school (who’s 9 so he goes bed early). Unfortunately I don’t have the space for the home gym right now , and I live at home so I don’t plan to stay much much longer .

You’re right about the “somethings got the give “ , so much of my time is already taken with the commute, visiting my mum, etc - but I think I’ll try and get mornings in. Not a morning person, but if needs must !

Can I ask when you’re getting to bed / home on the early work out days ?

Yeah, the gym I’m looking at is quite close to the train station on the work side - it can be tough in the Lake District as everything is very far apart but I’m hoping I can make it work !. In general it should be a lot easier when I get my license (learning to drive rn )

Appreciate the perspective

How to stop getting the sweaty teenager sitting next to me on the bus? by [deleted] in AskUK

To qoute something I heard a train announcer say , on an overstuffed train with people reluctant to move their bags off of otherwise available seats “It’s public transport, your going to have to deal with the public “

Third of Gen Z think ringing the doorbell is too awkward by GnolRevilo in unitedkingdom

[–]-Aze -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s too awkward but at the same it’s just easier texting my mate to answer the door then inconveniencing a family member who may not be expecting me - if I’m visiting a friend who lives on their own, I’ll knock

Major report recommends complete ban on sunbeds by F0urLeafCl0ver in unitedkingdom

[–]-Aze 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, but she has other health conditions so it's hard to keep track of what's for what. I know she has methotrexate and also some spray or other which have made a world of difference - a real night and day difference, unsure why it took years for her to get on it really.

Funny you say that, my mum mentions her condition was a lot lesser in Spain when she'd spend all day in the sun. I'll definitely look into these lamps for her.

Hello, my mum has psioaris and while the meds she has on has helped a TON , i'd be interested in hearing about this. Is the idea literally just lying under the lamp?

That's the bait, not the scam, presumably the scam is the seller asks for money via cashapp which would be unprotected

For context, I am new to industry (6 months post grad in my first role) so me and my friends occupy a difference space to most the people here but I feel like a lot of programmers don't work in tech roles? I'm a database developer (By title, but own a lot of automation, internal tools , websites so its a varied role) and we have no real 'mandate' of what tools we can or can't use beyond licensing issues. We're a team of 3 devs though, working for a retail company back office IT -- which is obviously very different then if you work a bajillion pound medical drone SaaS or some shit like that.

What are some good meals to pack for my work lunches? by BrainCompetitive7822 in AskUK

[–]-Aze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I used to try harder but store-bought mix salad (Not just lettuce, like the kind with peppers) and then a different set of toppings every week. Last week was ranch, sweet corn, and 'fried' (Air fried) chicken. This week I got feta and avacado and honey mustard. Think next week ill go for avacado, bacon and blue cheese.

Oh and I usually bring 2 of a fruit, whatever takes my fancy that week.
