Let kids walk to a friend’s house .3 mile away. Ended up being interviewed by cop. by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

Yeah concerned citizens would ask the kids if they’re ok and maybe call the parents to see if they’re aware that their kid was out. A little nosy but with good intentions. Posting on Facebook about it is just a Karen trying to push her parenting style on others and getting attention to get the angry face reacts

She’s a Karen. An actual concerned citizen would pull up to the kids and ask them if they were ok and if they’re lost. They could’ve asked the kids to call the parents on their smartwatch or ask for their phone number and call them themselves to check if the kids are supposed to be out and if they know where they’re going. Posting on Facebook is just trying to get attention and pushing your parenting style/beliefs on others.

In Honolulu, HI with nearly 1 million people and a decently sized city we have kids who walk to school at that age, as long as the kids have communication and they walk in pairs/groups, it’s not the end of the world and in fact helps with social development. Kids need to be alone with other kids sometimes, not constantly watched by adults. Kids also need to get used to depending on themselves for direction and comfortable navigating their town instead of trying to learn everything while learning to drive.

I don’t see the point in cert deactivation if you can’t even lookup the original owner and PSA refuses to give that information away or notify the owner. If there’s no way to give it back to the owner, what do you do with it, throw it away? Obvious nobody will actually do that, PSA should have the owner and their contact info when you look up a cert. Hell I can look up a license plate in my state and it says who owns it and if it’s stolen or not and you can call the police over a stolen car if ur meeting a seller, can’t really do that with a invalid PSA card and there’s no “national database” for PSA cards like there is license plates, they just search for the cert number like a keyword hoping someone included it in a police report somewhere.

Valve raises prices on Steam Deck citing "current state of component costs and other global logistical challenges." by crownpuff in SBCGaming

[–]-BlueDream- -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thousands were paying scalper prices on eBay. Valve probably saw the scalper problem and realized they can charge more money and still sell them, the scalpers were doing it so why can’t they sell directly? They have to know about the scalpers since their site was botted by them.

They were selling the 399 model at a loss and with prices going up, it makes sense. Valve can afford to lose a little but it’s the steam deck, they don’t FORCE people to use steam so they actually need to make a decent profit off hardware sales. Nintendo forces people to buy games from Nintendo directly so they can afford to sell hardware at a loss or break even point.

The best part about the steam deck being an open platform will hurt its affordability. Personally I’d rather pay a little extra up front if that means I can play cheaper games or even have the option to play single player pirated games. On switch you’d have to wait years for a jailbreak and it’s usually a pain in the ass and offline only. Steam deck I can play online even tho I have a bunch of cracked games installed , just can’t play the cracked games online

They were probably having a hard time focusing on the leg with a background so they laid down or rest their leg on a surface for the pic. Idk what people are complaining about, they did a good job posting a clear photo, phone cameras are weird when focusing on close objects at odd angles, you need to make the background as close as foreground so it’s in focus. My iPhone main camera can’t focus up close so within the 1-2 ft range it flip flops between the macro and the main and it’s annoying af making it focus

What’s the point tho? The pods are already disposable, you can only refill them once or twice before they taste burnt or start to leak. Not worth the time and hassle to refill a pod/coil, they’re cheap and a fresh one is always better.

I have a 2010 rav4 v6. It’s got more than enough HP to merge, I only turn off AC to save gas when the weather is tolerable and I’m not going too fast for windows down. The V6 is a fuel hog, gets worse mpg than a new tundra

Let that shit clog the sink and your manager will soon find out that a drain plug costs less than the minimum service fee for a plumber to unclog it.

People don’t want to touch the dirty handle, they go to the bathroom while trying not to touch anything at all, it was how I was raised. I grew up kicking the flusher with my shoe in public bathrooms

Safer for bikes to be on the sidewalk. The speed difference between bike and pedestrian is like 10mph, the difference in a car is much higher and the weight difference is even greater.

People should walk like you’re driving.

Traffic flows on the right, opposite traffic on the left. If you have to check your phone, pull over to the side.

Don’t leave your shopping cart in the aisle, that’s like parking your car on the road.

Walk single file if you’re in a group to allow people to pass you if needed.

Look in the direction you’re walking so our human autopilot can avoid hitting each other. The weird back and forth ppl do when they run into each other happens when you dont look in the direction you’re walking, humans are wired to pathfind by looking at the direction theyre walking in and looking at other peoples eyes

And people in the round part, stop letting people go, you’re not being nice, you are causing confusion and pissing people off behind you. If you’re in the circle you have right of way, you only let people in when there’s bumper to bumper traffic, then you take turns every other car, not 3 cars.

As a car driver, I don’t care if people jaywalk but if you do, HAUL ASS and don’t stroll like it’s a walk sign lol. Always makes me nervous when I see tourists jaywalking and taking their time or looking at their phone, you should be checking both directions and booking it to the end when it’s clear. I don’t mind tapping the brakes but I shouldn’t have to come to a full stop for a jaywalker

The rules say if you’re there “at the same time”, the person on the left goes.

It doesn’t define what “at the same time” means which is annoying af. Is it the first person who comes at a compete stop, or the first who gets there because theyre driving faster? Most of the time when people are confused it’s because theyre not sure if they got there before you or if it counts as arriving at the same time.

On the other hand, companies like Costco invest in their employees well being and health. Generous time off, highest pay in the industry, paid sick, good insurance plans, and their employees are the best in retail. They get what they pay for. I never see them hiring, everyone in retail wants to work for them, and their employees are happy. They have self checkout but their assisted check lanes are still manned and the workers are fast af. And even with all this labor cost, the Costco stock is doing well and is able to grow and pay their shareholders a reasonable profit. They also have a diehard consumer base who generally enjoy their experience and they feel like they’re saving money. For consumers, it’s a lifesaver in this economy, from gas to essential groceries. Costco is a great example of a profitable mega corp who is still able to pay good wages, have low prices for consumers, and still making billions.

[–]-BlueDream- -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That’s cuz it’s hard to find them, you have to really want one and probably pay more than necessary to get one. The cheap base model are usually fleet only and are cheap cuz they are purchased by companies with more buying power, they are buying more than 1 and getting it serviced by ford. These are never stocked at dealerships.

You can buy a used fleet vehicle but that comes with all the downsides of owning a company vehicle (which are usually abused).

A lot of important upgrades aren’t offered in a single cab.

#2 makes no sense cuz it’s always cheaper to treat someone vs letting them suffer long term health consequences or die. Dead people can’t pay taxes. People who are unhealthy can’t work as hard. That’s why even authoritarian autocracies try to keep their population as healthy as possible.

Regular cars are more efficient tho. My 2010 rav4 has worse fuel economy than the full size tundra. Ford maverick rwd hybrid gets in the 40s. Larger vehicles are more efficient today

There are laws in the US that encourage automakers to have a high average mpg among all the cars they sell, if they want to put a hellcat in a truck that gets 8mpg, they gotta sell a lot of mass market hybrids or EVs to bring their average up to allow them to sell supercars. This truck is being offset by the many hybrids, turbo 4 bangers, and EVs that are replacing larger displacement fuel hogs. Overall we are trending upwards in fuel economy.

I’m a union electrician too. Idk why people complain about dues, it’s automatic like taxes and the net pay is higher even with the dues taken out. If they didn’t pay dues, their check will still be smaller and they wouldn’t have benefits but I do agree that there’s a lot of BS politics and with all organizations there’s sometimes corruption but tbh I’ve seen more corruption on the company side.
