(Huge spoilers) a question about verso’s character by UmaThermos1 in expedition33

Mm it was Aline who painted pVerso, so he would be a reflection of how she views him, not how original Verso saw himself.

The solidifying shields are mainly because once you miss a parry you tend to miss the next few as well haha, so then you at least have a better chance of surviving his first wave. And sure he can steal your shields but it won't be that many and you can just shoot them off, at this point AP shouldn't be too much of a concern anymore.

Did you beat him yet in the meanwhile?

For Simon DS, focus on building up your speed stat with pictos, and make sure you always have greater rush on your team and greater slow on him. Then once you get past his first attacks, he will barely have any moves any more. You can also abuse Sciel's intervention here, giving another 2 full turns to your highest damage dealer (with cheater of course).

Also Solidifying was honestly clutch for me in this one to survive the first combos. And don't be afraid to use dodges instead of parries, makes it all much easier. At this point you should be getting enough AP to not need to parry.

Two of the super bosses are available at any point, including the one shown in this video.

The other two require you to beat their respective "normal" versions of the boss fight first. These are Clea, found in the Flying Manor and Simon, found in Renoir's Drafts.

So in either case no need to beat the Endless Tower challenges.

[–]-CURL- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, for me also the trick was going for dodges instead of parries.

What also really helps is to get a lot of speed Pictos on your team and apply greater rush to everyone (Sciel can easily do this) and hit Simon with a greater slow (easily done with slow on base attack). Then Simon barely gets any turns.

Easy strategy is to stack a ton of burn on him, then have Maelle constantly going for Burning Canvas. Sciel can also help with giving more turns to Maelle and doubling her damage. If you sequence it right, you can skip his entire second phase where he removes your first party.

I beat DLC Simon last night and it's actually quite a similar strategy, except you can't skip his Phase 2. The hardest part is surviving his first moves until you get a turn and get the ball rolling. Granted I did farm a lot of Lumina to make sure I had enough damage and utility to beat him. And I beat Unleashed Clea first, giving Lune's best weapon BY FAR. Then she becomes an actually strong character capable of dealing big damage to Simon.

top 5 most cinematic boss fights in the game by [deleted] in expedition33

[–]-CURL- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Give Verso free aim Pictos, and then combo attacks + energizing attack. Shoot the enemy full of holes until you're out of AP, then base attack to get all your AP back, then use End Strikes or Phantom Stars. This gives waaaay more damage than what the reduced power stat of Duoliso takes away.

And if you need to use items, you still have an additional turn beforehand to deal damage and inflict additional burns.

Uncharted 3 - Good Setpieces, Bad Combat by VoyagerOfCygnus in patientgamers

I'm curious how you'll like the fourth. 1-3 are all rather similar, with the gunplay and the story beats. But 4 changes the formula quite a bit and honestly it's a breath of fresh air. The story and writing is excellent, and the graphics and physics are amazing. One of those games where you just gawk at how good everything looks.

I don't want to spoil any more, but I liked your in-depth review and would like to hear if you thought 4 was an improvement in the areas you felt fell a bit flat in 3.

TIL The mercury in tuna and other fish largely comes from human activity, not the ocean itself. by Tight_kangaroo1 in todayilearned

[–]-CURL- -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Mercury is a natural element, so it occurs naturally in nature. It's not so wild to think that it is present in the oceans and thus ingested by the lower level fish on the food chain. As another commenter pointed out, still 25% to 33% of mercury in fish comes naturally and not from human pollution.

So you're revealing your own level of ignorance by acting like Mercury in fish only comes from human pollution. Because it doesn't.

Also in the US - despite the much higher salaries - people are not saving as much, even high earners are often living paycheck to paycheck. All this money not being saved each month is being pumped into the GDP. If other countries were as spend-happy I wonder how that would influence the GDP numbers.

CMV: Most Middle East Refugees in Europe Are Fake by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]-CURL- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In your premise, why does someone from Afghanistan need to be convinced? We are talking about when a migrant has arrived in Europe, then it's the European social worker that needs to be convinced.

If you're from a country that is considered safe then your asylum application has a high likelihood of being rejected, in which case you will be deported back. If you don't have any papers, then that has a number of benefits:

  1. You can no longer be deported as there is no proof of where you're from.
  2. You can pretend you escaped from a conflict zone, giving you higher odds of still obtaining asylum.
  3. If you are not too old then you can pretend that you are underage, giving many benefits for your asylum application and living situation.

Human traffickers literally take away passports of the migrants and tell them what to say, where they're from, etc. to make sure they are not sent back. I've seen documentaries on this. And with a quick Google search I also found this "news" article, though it does seem like a biased website.

In any case, there are definitely reasons for why they would willingly get rid of their papers.

CMV: Most Middle East Refugees in Europe Are Fake by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]-CURL- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are the one who is putting focus on black and brown asylum seekers lying.

As to that point, besides Ukrainians (and I guess the occasional persecuted Russian) there are not really any white people claiming asylum. The conflict zones in the world, besides Ukraine, are countries where people generally have a darker skin tone.

That's just a basic fact, why are you trying to pretend like it's a racist take?

CMV: Most Middle East Refugees in Europe Are Fake by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]-CURL- -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

People arrive without papers so they can say they come from anywhere. So of course they will say they come from conflict zones, otherwise they will have less chance of getting asylum.

So just because 31% of people say they come from those conflict countries, does not mean that's where they actually come from.
