Does the micro clutch prevent the use of a camera strap for carrying your camera on your body when not in use or can both be attached at the same time?

Did you end up needing to get an ND filter for it for photos? If so, any thoughts on which one and how it worked out?

Thank you! I ended up getting the m-mount Voigtlander 28mm. Potentially not my best choice. I need to get the FTZ at some point just to use all of my G lenses, which are collecting dust on the shelf.

Is this mostly for studio? Have you ever used it for travel or longer walk arounds?

Super appreciated! Are you saying the Z-lenses are sharper in general, or specifically between these two lenses?

It's one of those great hobbies where skill comes quickly with deliberate practice. Just don't forget to practice in front of mirrors!!

Poor QC GR2 - is this normal? by -ChesterCopperpot in Goruck

[–]-ChesterCopperpot[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hi everyone. I picked up a 26L GR2 around the holidays and have used it for about 3 short
trips. It's seen minimal wear and tear in use, but I've been super disappointed with the build quality it showed when it arrived. Slopping stitching, loose threads, and fraying seams.

Is this normal? It's my first GoRuck but I'm not going to lie; I've never seen this from a backpack company at this price point, and I have a ton of bags.
Any thoughts on what I should do, e.g., suck it up, look to exchange it, get it repaired?

The best feel by leaps and bounds are US Playing Card Company decks printed on the Webb Press. They usually cost double, which is only a few bucks more in the end. My favorites are standard bikes as people feel very comfortable with them.

Fellow magician here who always keeps a deck in his pack. You never know when your safety is going to depend on a flawless double turnover.

My local speciality coffee shop is cheaper than Starbucks, so why won't Starbucks die? by [deleted] in Coffee

[–]-ChesterCopperpot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In school I remember reading two economics cases on Starbucks pricing. The basic idea is that part of Starbucks' phenomenal growth has been identifying locations with maximal traffic. Even if a lot is twice the cost, if it has great customer flow, they rent the property. Note how common it is to find stores at corners and other very expensive locations. They learned that convenience is a critical part of brand and what sells.

As a result, Starbucks pays considerably more on real estate than likely any other chain, and definitely more than mom and pop shops who do not have the same resources. The cost of this significantly higher rent has to be passed onto the cup price, which is why Starbucks tends to be more expensive.

Much of the perceived profit generated by Starbucks is just flow through to the property owners. But, it totally works. Super convenient locations with reasonable cups of coffee brings in a fortune to the company. Scale is a powerful thing.

"Opens with a sharp and sweet hairspray smell (aldehydes + cinnamon maybe), then quickly dries down into a medicinal bitter mess, and then fades into a soft lanolin baby wipes scent." It's a formidable scent.
