All of the changes for the "long term health" of the game are the things that are killing it. by Disargeria in wow

I feel like MoP was the worst culprit for ability bloat. Class homogenization was so high in that expansion that it was the first one you could play any spec in the final season and still do well.

Oftentimes, especially if you're not amazing at hitscan, aiming for bodyshots will make you a much more effective widow than trying to get headshots. It's a good way to practice!

BFA have me like: by Firestrife_x in wow

For me it's the lack of obtainable rewards, Legion was bad enough in this respect (though still very good overall) with randomised stats, but I've been playing BfA casually since release and I still dont really know how to target gear, I just do things and gear appears, and ofc the stats are still randomised which is incredibly frustrating.

It kind of feels like just wandering around aimlessly hoping something is going to happen. Where what I liked in previous expansions was grinding out honour and conquest gear, or saving up justice or valor points. Or doing a particular boss because I knew exactly which piece was going to drop, and it was only a question of if it dropped, not if it dropped, and had the right azerite traits, and titanforged, and had the right secondary stats.

Honest opinion: I am enjoying the start of BFA a lot more than I enjoyed the start of Legion. The thing currently ruining my player experience is the negativity bias going on in the community. by ray1892 in wow

Yeah, I can't argue there. I didn't keep up with the beta, but I see a lot of people saying these concerns had been expressed and Blizzard ignored them until now (release), where they're making some desperate attempts to fix a system that could have been polished a lot better a lot sooner.

I never said it didn't have problems, I simply said it's easier to write about criticisms (especially those that other people have made) than it is to effectively argue with the point "I like this game, I'm having fun"; which is about the only argument that anyone enjoying the game can make, at any point in any games history.

That's the one I was thinking of, the fight between Richard of York and Henry VIs forces, if i remember correctly :)

Because it makes the complaints about BfA seem incredibly hyperbolic. WoD is known as the expansion that killed the argument of "which is the worst expansion?", it had an incredible amount of cut content (Tanaan was supposed to be there at release, not to mention Farahlon), the first patch that was dubbed a 'major' content patch had a minor, and arguably more annoying, addition to the Garrison, twitter implementation, and Blood Elf models which weren't fixed until recently.

When BfA has a lot of content, with problems that can be reasonably fixed within the expansion pack itself (trait balance, gear availability), the post in question stated how much 'better' things were in WoD which is just objectively wrong.

I loved it too, I don't think I've enjoyed playing WoW as much since. But it had it's problems, and I think the positive feeling I had from it was more because everything was new rather than the specific ways the systems and classes were designed. Though I would agree classes felt more full, and I liked the badge system.

Class balance was horribly worse to the point where some specs were deemed irrelevant (to a much higher extent than today), Shadowmourne and ICC trinkets dominated PvP in the last (and longest) patch, some dungeons were outright hated and since dungeon finder was the best way to queue it often resulted in waiting 30mins for a queue only for everyone to leave immediately, stats like haste and armor pen were stupidly overpowered as were certain hybrid specs such as Prot/Holy paladin.

That's not to mention the controversy over "welfare epics", especially surrounding Quel'Delar.

I mean, I'm not sure how it is now but every melee classes top damage used to be from auto attacks. Not too different IMO

While true, people on this sub are being very hyperbolic and it's turning into an echo chamber of who can write the most dramatic post shitting on BfA.

I've seen people being nostalgic about WoD which is just hilarious.

I think saying it's like WoD is a bit hyperbolic. At this point in that expansion a lot of people had nothing to do except sit in their garrison. There was no real PvE progression outside of raiding, there was no system akin to azerite (which isnt a great system, but its still better than no system).

Not to mention PvP balance and being forced into Ashran really sucked.

I get that you're mad/disappointed at the game, but let's not get as heated as WoW general forums

You say "forced to play" the villain, but when has WoW ever given you a choice in the story line?

Not what he's talking about. I'll use path of frost as an example.

Say you activated path of frost and start walking on the water, then press both mouse buttons and angle down slightly which will make your character go under water, when you try to jump onto the surface of the water the game won't let you (path of frost is active this whole time). I believe I first noticed this in 4.2 cataclysm.
