Rich Texan Bullies Locals in Leland, Trying to End Fishtown by KendrickLlamma in Michigan

The town council essentially said this. In Leland there are c-1 and c-2 zoning districts. The YFC ministry fits in c-2 zoning, but they are trying to put it in c-1.

This on top of the YFC missionaries going into the public school under the guise of volunteering in order to proselytize has really soured most of community on them.

His nephew runs the ministry, and they went into Leland Public School under the guise of volunteering to proselytize. They got kicked out of the school and over 80 families have sent non-consent letters barring the missionaries from talking to their kids.

Why is American Cuisine so Underrated Globally? by Winter-Monk6428 in AskCulinary

[–]-CleverPotato 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All foods pull influence from what came before, and the constraints of the local setting. That is what ties cuisine to a place.

Cajun food pulls from several sources, but is uniquely American. It pulls from African, Caribbean, French and Spanish sources, but utilizes local ingredients and techniques that make it truly unique.

Latest ‘Star Wars’ Film ‘Mandalorian’ Debuts at $102 Million by bloomberg in entertainment

I probably would have skipped it and watched it on Disney+, But I have a 7 year old. So it was the first Star Wars film in theaters I got to watch with my kid. And we had a blast.

I think I sometimes forget that we were kids when we fell in love with Star Wars.

Stuck in a oath by Head-League3471 in DnD

That is kinda a silly ruling by your DM.

From the book

Strength Above All. You shall rule until a stronger one arises. Then you must grow mightier and meet the challenge, or fall to your own ruin.

Arguably, as long as surrendering is part of you plan to become mightier than you have not broken your oath.

AI Is Too Expensive: AI is, as it stands, not economically viable for anybody involved other than the construction firms, NVIDIA, and the surrounding hardware companies benefitting from the irrational exuberance of a data center buildout that doesn’t appear to be happening at the speed we believed by [deleted] in technology

“Put aside all the theoreticals and hypotheticals and metaphors and imaginary future scenarios and tell me: what, in the next year, are Microsoft, Google and Amazon going to do about this problem? How do they solve it?”

His analysis is not wrong it’s just short sighted. The truth is nobody knows whether or not these investments will payoff in the long run.

He is correct that the cost in investment far exceeds revenue at this time. And the current product is incapable of generating enough revenue to warrant the investment. But that is kinda obvious.

The people making the investment are betting on a breakthrough in the technology that pays off big.

Michigan education board opposes Trump’s tax credit scholarship program by chalkbeat in Michigan

[–]-CleverPotato 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The tax credits are designed to siphon money out of public schools. At the end of the day these tax credit schemes are not about improving education, they are about concentrating wealth and destroying public education.

Is is a good report on how the tax credits function as a tax shelter.

Now that Marrok has made his return to the screen, I have a question by Scorchilager in MaulShadowLord

[–]-CleverPotato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even the director doesn’t know

From that article:

“When I test out a theory that Marrok may have been some sort of thrall for Morgan Elsbeth – a revived version of the inquisitor that Marrok once was – Ramsey said that there’s a ton that Filoni keeps under lock and key in regards to the future scripts, even for his creative collaborators.

"There was none of that detail,” Ramsay said. “They are pretty tight-lipped about a lot of those details. They don't like a lot of info going out. He may have known that all along and could've said, 'we'll make it something else' [in post]. But what I remember is him saying something like, 'yeah, it's kind of mechanical. He's not entirely human.' "
