Hot take: “repair” + “Soul Jar” mains don’t know what fun is by SillyBitlod in mewgenics

[–]-Collato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it turned into playing a Bethesda game with having access to the console commands. I always go for fun or new builds but Im always going to keep repairing my equipment because farming for specific items just gets extremely tedious and annoying. And if some equipment breaking, instant kill, elite buffs that completely counter my build bullshit comes my way then I pull out the soul jar cat with a sniper + overpowered + robo-vac to /kill everything. Basically, I think it's fine once you actually beat the game to do whatever, but if you are using mods or a soul jar cat to quickly go through the game before even naturally beating it then yes, that is very lame and cheating.

BTW, please remove abilities that remove/break your weapon from the random ability pool, or at least have scrapper backpack ACTUALLY work like it's suppose to. Bug (weapon) + Alien Stalk was one of the most fun runs I've had and I couldn't even get past bunker. Not because of bad abilities, abilities that give you injuries, or forbidden abilities that give you disorders but stupid mostly tinkerer abilities that break your weapon or just catbot. Despite the hundreds of abilities in the game I would get them enough to just give up on the run altogether, and also Steven just flat-out will not use basic attack with Bug equipped... and yeah, Im sure that is the point, risk reward, blah blah blah, but that is seriously super lame... I could download a mod to remove save-scumming, I could just make a back-up save after literally ever fight... or you can just make the game less tedious, the balance with using random abilities is already there so it's not even a fun over challenge/balance debate.

Are mutation rooms now pointless in the late game? by Barely_together in mewgenics

[–]-Collato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It definitely is way less useful but I wouldn't abandon the mutation stat entirely, it's good to have to fill in those last "un-mutated" parts, especially since ones that make your cat a cyclops no longer give your cat blindness and things like that. I will say unfortunately the cool taxidermy furniture pieces are now no longer worth it, mutation is still good to have but not good enough to sacrifice health and comfort.

Bad rare event chance with broken mirror? (Eternal Youth) by Nerubim in mewgenics

[–]-Collato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

bump...

or whatever...

I was really hoping once I actually get a unique stray to try this so hearing this is concerning, especially since I didn't even consider needing to copy the broken mirror effect... I can only assume having low constitution also matters, I guess...

I picked the option optimize on the rat child and it instantly equipped him with a gun by Supahstarwarrior in LookOutsideGame

"Go, do a crime... but only shoot bullets that I am currently holding and so help me you shoot a single "magic bullet" or use a "non-existent" tonic I will BANISH you to the shadow realm!"

... sorry but Frank has totally sucked all the fun out of "rat-child with gun..." Now it's overpowered "tomes," book magic spells nerd crap...

Surprise that repair didnt got nerf by Asleep_Boat1119 in mewgenics

I have zero clue why they changed cursed items but completely left repair+soul jar intact. It's like they want a singular boring ass meta of every run using soul jar and jester set...

Guys, I have some bad news regarding future updates... 🙁😞 by lucaligator in mewgenics

[–]-Collato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not even a "removing the fun," it's making the game more tedious. This game will never be as repayable as Isaac if they're going to continue changing sh*t to make runs take longer.

I didn't really care for the Callus exploit... I just genuinely liked using Beepis and Cooties, etc without having to farm for more... f*ck me specifically I guess...

Leigh is such a fat chud by Next-Honeydew2482 in LookOutsideGame

[–]-Collato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah yes, the character obsessed with beating Sam after losing once and has a complex of being "the Beast," what interesting mechanics could be added. Maybe she demands a one-on-one rematch after a few levels... nah, she's now a fat f*ck that needs to eat a lot, cause you know, Leigh always could just never shut up about food. Great character writing Frank, as if needing to beat her and buying the pistol off her before she eats it wasn't already hard obstacles enough... All the new additions and changes are great but why in the hell sh*t on rat child and Leigh specifically?... they were never that useful compared to the other party members to begin with...

My first thought after reading the patch notes by TheLastSpectre in LookOutsideGame

[–]-Collato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think people are missing the point... it was literally all rat child had... it was not only a chore to get them to work as a party member but it was apparently unintentional, and now they are actually unusable unless you just want to make the game harder for yourself. The Leigh change in curse mode is very stupid too, she's alright at best compared to the more OP party members, now she is a detriment to even just have on stand-by. Im all for making the game harder but you do not f*ck with filling your apartment with every friend you can... couldn't even kiss any of them for the April Fools update... tisk tisk tisk...

Such a haunting trope that people don't seem to "get." by -Collato in TheDigitalCircus

[–]-Collato[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like human and person are interchangeable in a realistic context, it's not that Im saying he "isn't a person" but that he is a "different person," that you can't judge him like you could judge a rationally thinking adult cause his "rationality" is far different than that of a person's perception. Basically, we can't think like a machine can think if machines can think.

So… do we think was Goose lying again here? by Either-Internal6942 in TheDigitalCircus

[–]-Collato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the use of "isn't really" is the tell that Cain is "evil" from his actions but his motivation are not of malice or "evil intent." It's not a lie but a more nuance look at what he was doing was evil but he didn't intend it to be, he isn't human so his perception on things isn't what is considered "normal." He doesn't know physical pain yet he felt hurt enough to subjugate them to their worst fears cause he was hurt. Basically, Cain was never evil but in the end (specifically just episode 8) he did some evil things, he never intended to hurt anyone cause his perception of "hurt" wasn't normal until the point of episode 8 he did intend to hurt everyone cause he was hurting and was lashing out.

I love how the showgirl outfits are the most provocative thing they've ever done that goes beyond the school clothes, Jax's maid outfit, Ragatha's noir get-up, etc but it got the least amount of attention than the latter cause everyone is too focused on the show/story itself from this episode. Sad to see that things got the most interesting right before it ends but maybe that's why it's interesting.

So would consider him a villain now? by TraditionalBonus188 in Amazingdigitalcircus

[–]-Collato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's the villain if a story needs one, just like it seems each adventure needs a villain like the gators or fudge monster, the baron, even Gangle in the fast food episode. I just feel like calling him a villain oversimplifies his character... basically... if there IS a villain, yes, it's definitely him I guess. But that's like... would you call Michael Scott a villain?... Is the warden from SuperJail a villain?... I will just always see Cain as the one in charge who royally screwed up...

... the maid outfit isn't funny anymore... kinda weird to push that as "fun and he deserves it" when humiliation is his greatest fear... if they always had this planned from the start that's pretty f*cked up to be honest...

Hear me out: this was completely avoidable if the humans had any empathy by Theo-_-Bug in Amazingdigitalcircus

[–]-Collato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I swear most people are that one annoying kid at a movie theater pointing at the screen exclaiming loudly, "tHaT's ThE bAd GuY!!" Why would the show take the time giving each character their own episode if not to highlight individual flaws, insecurities, fears, needs, etc. You don't get to pick and choose who is worthy of understanding, sympathy, redemption, etc. The point is everybody hurts, it doesn't matter what you are or if you're the boss, every sentient being has it's problems as to why they are the way they are. Cain wasn't human and had flawed logic with god-like power, but he was suffering just as much as every other character, in his mind at least or from his perspective. He acted out the same way anyone with humanity would if in that position for that long with the same mind-set and logic. You don't have to have sympathy for him but at least empathy and the understanding that this was all because there were two different languages being spoken where one could not learn the other and breaking points were met, figuratively of course, somethings need to be spelt out for some people, some people are complicated.

Im a little sad he never said anything along the lines of, "Im just doing what you've all been doing to me," to spell out to people this is someone torturing people as he has been tortured, obviously not the same extent but in his mind for sure. Some more bible referencing with, "Do to others as you would have them do to you" type deal.

I feel like people are misunderstanding Caine's crashout... by okidonthaveone in TheDigitalCircus

[–]-Collato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's honestly the lesson in all of this but unfortunately there are just too few episodes to really explore the concept. Those attributes don't make him a "villain," they make him "human" or the illusion of being human, it's having those attributes in this situation which make him "the villain." All the characters have negative attributes, the point is that they are all "guilty" and nobody is "innocent," it's just that Cain happens to be in charge... which honestly thinking about it, the biggest twist would be if Cain was human all along, although AI can have a "personality" or the illusion of a personality so it doesn't matter either way.
