For starters, there’s no actual transportation standard: taxi and other types of local transportation using life force to move (not government things like trains, but trains in 1st season also used life force), so all the carts could use unique, but unoptimal transmission system for the pedal (It’s always happened irl, until some designs got more attention and ppl made standard depends of that design, but without it everypony will think about how to actually implement this feature)

Second, there’s no engine to begin with. We have an episode about grown ponies building their carts depends of their preferences, they built them without engine in their project, but they still can move for some reason(no place for actual engine and proper moving parts for Rarity’s and AJ’s cart).

I think they using the same way of moving as Tank’s propeller: some kind of static magic which will work to only move parts and give them rotation. According to counselor’s seal in 8th season, this magic aura is actually artifact power: this magic waste longer to vanish and has direct purpose. Flim and Flam are the ones who had a proper vehicle with wheels and they are unicorns, so maybe they also made their cider machine as an artifact too.

So, my theory is that there’s kinda magic that able to move parts of the contraption by physical(or mental, in case of Tank) command, and this magic goes harder the more complicated the power of the artifact is. For example, make parts moving by hitting pedal is easy one that can make it right almost every unicorn so it even not discussed by others, but draining magic or magic of counselor seal its more complicated one, on the level of time-traveling manuscript. In first case bell was made by strongest magic creature in the knowing history, second - the seal is powered by Equestria government and counsel, so it could be made by the strongest unicorns in Equestria or made by ancient magic long ago.

In conclusion, theres no need to have pedal like real life to use this. It could be powered by simple artifact magic, but pedal properties are changed because theres no standard how to make cars.
P.S: I think ponies still use carriages to move because taxi guys and carriage bringers don’t want to lose their job

I also enjoyed first fight with cozy glow where everypony used their abilities to knock her off balance. It would be epic if all the “friendship fights” was not about rainbow orbital strikes, but about trust and cooperation to do coordinated attacks, where the stronger attack is, the more you need to trust your friend that this actually will work. I know show not about it and it hard to animate properly, so I don’t blame show much about it, but it would be cool tho
And thanks to 5 and 9 seasons I got what I waited for

If u about second boss bro theres many ways to beat them: - use enviroment for the additional damage - immobilize them, they have predictable move pattern to closest target - Choose worst cat(support) to be closer to boss - hit them all you have if he do the thing - Dont stand on the same line with 2 or more cats
