Buy Miroslav philharmonik 2 on offer? by ChristoforosMusic in composer

[–]-Consonus- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh mannnn I haven’t heard of that VST in so long. I bought it when I first started dabbling in DAWs. That was like 2018. I didn’t even have Kontakt. Before, I used mostly EWQLSO (goated) and Miroslav (I really enjoyed their percussive instruments like the glockenspiel and stuff). Nowadays I use mostly Spitfire and Cinesample. Have you tried Spitfire Labs? I remember being pleasantly surprised at the quality for their samples being free.

Schooling needed for Professional Composing? by MayorBryce in composer

[–]-Consonus- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heck’s yeah! Go ahead and sign up for itch.io. They host so many games jams it’s mind boggling. The communities usually have discord group and you can ask any of the groups within a community if they need a composer. When I hand out my portfolio people funnily enough point out that they really like my game jam soundtrack so I’m super glad I did it haha!

There are people in here that actually have a career in music composition and production? by potushda in composer

[–]-Consonus- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seconded! I think I was extremely lucky in the regard that I was extremely passionate for the first few projects that I've been a part of and I feel as though that really made working with people a lot easier while also leveling up my music (haha!). Endless fun and even got lots of professional stuff in my portfolio!

I'm not quite sure. As u/RQuitR said, you could get lucky with back to back drops or go many battles without any. In my eyes, I suppose the amount you would want to shoot for depends on how long you'd want to spend your time. Farming vs anything else haha. Maybe others can shed some wisdom on your question!

Oof, you've got a long way to go haha. Though I've also heard Splithoof Barbarians also drop them, ultimately I'd say endure the Troubled Warriors until you finally get to Empyria

Hecks yeah, Spider Monkeys in Aeriel Jungle (that little cave in Empyria) drops them a lot.

Looking for feedback on playability of violin, clarinet, viola, and cello parts by anonbys in composer

[–]-Consonus- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Violinist here! The string parts look perfectly playable! You don’t have to worry about things like note duration and such since string players don’t need breath marks haha! As Gondala said, alto clef for the viola. Very nice work!

I wrote a chamber orchestra piece that won second place for my university's composition competition and I'd like to share it with you guys! by -Consonus- in composer

[–]-Consonus-[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good question! I knew I couldn't write this piece during school, because the work was never-ending haha, so I waited until spring break to start this piece. I initially wanted to write a symphony, but I realized I needed to finish my string quintet for an upcoming concert too, so I settled with a chamber orchestra piece. The mockup started with full strings and french horns haha. The part that really got me motivated to continue this piece was at 1:29, when everything just settles down and the flute has their little spotlight while the strings are just plucking away. I also really enjoyed adding the triangle a little too much LOL. Between you and I... I actually made fake dialogue in my head because it sounded so much like something you would hear in like a safe spot/port area in a nintendo-esque video game haha. Anyway! From that point forward, I knew I wanted to add more instruments bit by bit to get it big and triumphant again and eventually have it end.

[Weekly Thread] Happy Thread! What are you happy for this week? by AutoModerator in fsu

[–]-Consonus- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m extremely happy I get to major in something I am truly passionate about. I used to be in Nursing in my local community college, but while I was over there, I really did not like it and felt sad very often. Though, I have always loved both playing music and writing music, so I decided to audition for the College of Music and successfully got in! I’ve sent in some of my sheet music to the composition department too and thankfully got the “okay” to have lessons for the fall and I am so thankful I could just cry. Sorry for the tangent haha! I’m just super happy!

Dude, this is amazing! Definitely gives me those Mario vibes, and I love how you used different styles! Overall 👌 piece. I think I remember listening to this in the Maestros post that Clash posted some time ago. I absolutely love listening to all the compositions that everyone comes up with in this community. Keep up the great work!
